The rod is fantastic! Awesome action. Absolutely love it. I have the spinning rod also. But the biggest problem is you can only run one line on it. No tippets or leaders on braid. The eyelets are sooooooo tiny that a tippet knot grabs as it goes through. If you were only going to do a 2-3 foot leader maybe.... but if your knot is running in and out of the eyelets it casts terrible. So if you run straight mono or floro you're good. The second thing is the hook catch. It's behind the reel. It's exactly where you hold the rod with your hand or put the rod in a rod holder. It's the stupidest thing I've ever seen... so I hook my lures on the eyelet frame. Which I hate doing. But for the price.... man it's a nice rod. ... show more

The Defy rod is definitely a budget piece but it stands up. I used the Medium heavy this last week exclusively for jigs and tx-rigs and it was a champ. The only thing i found annoying is the baitkeeper placement. But thats a storage issue and not something that impedes function. I retired my extreme 7'4 Bass Pro Shop crankbait rods after almost 20 yrs let's just say I got my money's worth out of them so I got one of these two of these one 7'9 and one 7'4 crankbait rods I think they're fiberglass and graphite I just used it a couple times but I love them I guess time will tell about durability though but that's all I got for now ... show more
