  • Great value, don't forget all the trim and vacuum pump
Size: SEER2 18.5, 12000BTU, 230V,2.0 Wifi
Love this, just did a DIY install, took about 4 hours cause I had to get electrical runs installed too. Just make sure you vacuum down the lines and buy the glue to seal the threads. It runs so quiet which is nice. Oh yes, get a trim kit and install bracket so it doesn't suit in the ground with the bottom rotting out. ... show more

  • Can't change the temperature in auto mode - just avoid this if you value your sanity
Size: SEER2 18.5, 12000BTU, 230V,2.0 Wifi
Yet another update: After going back and forth with _very_ cryptic responses from support (via e-mail only) it doesn't appear the "auto" function works in any sort of coherent manner. the answer was effectively "it maintains room temp" but in reality it appears that it just turns the cooling on and runs -- at a somewhat low output but constantly and temp in the room falls well below what appears to be the constant set point of 77. No idea why the set point is 77, and it can't be adjusted - at least not from the remote. You can select the "IFEEL" button and it displays a temp local to the remote, so you can readily see just how drastically the temp drops below the 77 degree set point. So, the unit looks nicer than a comparable sized window unit and doesn't take up window space - but acts just like a cheap window unit at a higher price AND requires professional installation. Oh, and any warranty for the product requires professional installation, but with no real way to prove it, I expect at the first hint of trouble I'll be faced with replacing the entire thing. Further update: This just keeps getting worse. The _only_ documentation you can get for daily operation is a QR code that takes you to the manual for the (third party) remote. Best part I have found so far: "Note: The temperature cannot be set in AUTO or FAN mode, thus these two buttons are not functional." WTF? What's the point of "auto" mode if you can't decide what the set point for auto is???? It appears to be 77 F - at least that's what's displayed on the head unit. Independent temp gauges around the room seem to agree with this, but again... I have window units that have better documentation and real-world "auto" settings. That are less expensive! Update: It doesn't come with a user manual. I called the support number and actually got someone on the phone (which is a plus) but they can't provide a link to the manual for download, nor could they attach it to an email in some type of document or PDF format -- they could "screenshot" the manual and e-mail it -- but apparently the outbound email server stripped the attachments, so I got nothing. The daily operations of this thing are ... you either freeze your *** off or sweat to death. The "auto" mode -- which is what I use in _every other_ system I have, has no way to adjust temp that I can see or find. I have it in auto mode right now -- the remote has no temp value displayed at all, the head unit displays 68 and the actual room temperature is 78.8 Degrees F. If you value your sanity, just avoid this like the plague. Oh, and if you value your sanity or data security stay _away_ from their website. I haven't seen such a horrible morass of cross site scripting, with what I am sure is a site infested with malware and god knows what sort of data infiltration happening. Pros: This thing does cool like crazy (well considering I'm cooling a space in December in Texas) and is _very_ quiet both inside and out. I can't tell the outside is even powered on when standing next to it. Cons: Documentation? What documentation? There are 4 "modes": Auto, Cool, Dry, Heat. In every mode the fan speed is set manually You can't adjust the temperature setting in Auto mode When in cool or heat, the temperature displayed on the remote doesn't appear to have any relationship to the number displayed on the head unit There are buttons in the remote with no explanation "Anti-F", "ELE.H/ECO" (which should be obvious but appears to have -0- affect on operations of the unit) and a "HEALTH/iCLEAN" button (Maybe that's the manual trigger for the autoclean function it's supposed to have?) The worst part is the head unit coolant tubing didn't reach through the exterior wall. The installer, (yes a professional HVAC tech, because you have to have vacuum pump to install this) had to cut and braze an insert in the line in order to be able to connect the line sets outside of the wall cavity. Having potential leaks in a fitting or R32 refrigerant into a closed cavity isn't a good thing. The line set is short. My other mini splits (Daiken and EG4) came with standard 16' line sets. These are just over 13. Overall, when replacing this, I'll do it with another brand. This one isn't even branded in the listing -- when it arrived it's stamped "GARVEE" all over. ... show more
