  • It is a cheap incubator BUT____----====
Color: BEggs
I have been hatching chicken eggs for a few years now from home made incubators and (cheap) purchaced ones. Know this now that it is unlikely you will get a high hatch rate using these cheap incubators. The one thing anyone should know is a machine (unless a very expensive one) cannot compete with mom)!!! Now this incubator; things I don't like, there is no sight window to view chicks as they pip, Thats it!... My first suggestion to newbys is ; After turning on the incubator and establishing it is in working order and holding the necessary temperature I drilled a 1'' hole in the side of the lid making sure not to drill into anything that would interfear with the operation of the unit, especially electrical! WHY; to be able to verify that the turners are working without lifting the lid and losing heat and a place to verify the tempature is accurate, 99-101...Place a piece of duct tape over the hole and you will be fine. I placed a mouth thermometer in the hole to check mine and it read ( at 38 c) 100.2 ... perfect, if for any reason yours does not stay consitantly between 99-101 and can't be set to hold this temperature, send it back as it is faulty. In my years of hatching eggs I don't think I have ever hatched over 50% (using these cheap incubators). Most times it was a lot less and I lost a lot of sleep monitoring my machine. You get what you pay for, so let's not be too critical. You knew it wasn't a $500 incubator when you bought it. Good luck... ... show more

  • Not a good success rate
Color: BEggs
Pros are the attachment for battery access incase of power outage, easy to use buttons, audiomatic rotation and easy access to add water. Cons are the humidity is hard to control, no hydrometer is included, temperature control is off (has to be a degree higher), no window to check in while hatching and cord hangs inside chick got tangled. The biggest thing I have another styrofoam incubator and split my eggs to see hatch rate between the two and had better results in the other styrofoam. The styrofoam had a 70% success and this one has 30%. The design idea of this incubator is nice but overall there's flaws. ... show more

Was easy to use, just wish there was a humidity gauge on it. Returned for that reason

  • Just alright.
This was our first time incubating eggs but I found that the incubator could not maintain a steady temperature even when the lid had not been touched. The plug into the incubator was very touchy and if moved it would not work. The eggs also drifted to one side while on the rotaters and I don't think they rotated much so we still manually rotated occasionally. We placed a dozen eggs in the incubator and after the 1st week we could tell we had 7 that were developing so we knew those were fertile. By the time hatching came we had 2 successful chicks. The others had all stopped developing along the way. Not sure what all could be the cause of that but it was more of an experiment for us. If you definitely want chicks I would choose a better incubator. If just experimenting this will do but kind of an expensive experiment. We just put more eggs in to see how it goes and so my husband can't complain about me spending so much money to use it once or to just get 2 chicks. Lol Hoping for a better turnout rate. ... show more
