This window AC does a great job cooling larger rooms. It cools the space pretty quickly and the 3-in-1 feature with cooling, fan, and dehumidifier is really useful. It runs fairly quiet and the remote and 24-hour timer make it easy to use. Installation was simple too. Overall, a powerful and convenient AC that keeps the room comfortable even on very hot days.

Okay, this air conditioning unit is a standard unit without all the bells and whistles. It is the typical window unit with the little slider things to fill in the gaps. (I think they call them accordion sliders or something like that.) First of all, it was well packaged and came quality packed which is always good. I worry about damage. As a pro-level note, wait 24 hours after installing before using. This allows the freon to settle. It is heavy so make sure at least two of you are doing it - preferably someone with some upper body strength. Don't get me wrong, it isn't crazy heavy, but two people in their 80's might want some assistance! As far as function, I think it functions fine. It has a remote which is an added touch, but most of the stuff and settings are basic. Don't expect to connect to your IOT or have all kinds of oscillating options here - it is old fashioned oscillation (you move the louvers). So the room I put this is is larger than 550, probably around 800 sq feet (I have the 12,000 btu unit for 550). It did cool the room, but took some extra time and seemed to work overtime. Of course, I live in the desert. It isn't summer yet so have to test on the extreme days, but it did hit 99 the other day and this ran the whole time, but kept up. I was impressed. The build is good quality and I find that value for the price is spot on. It cools well, sets up well, and works well. It isn't the prettiest thing in the world, but what window AC is? I can't tell you about power draw as of yet as my electric is on level-payments throughout the year, but I didn't get hit for a spike at all. Overall, seems like a well-made and durable AC unit. This is a Basic Plus window air conditioner- it does its basic function of blowing cold air very well, and has some extra features, but lacks some high end functions that some users may find essential. First, the basics: It comes very well packed, no damage at all in transit. Amazon states the box is 67 lbs; very believable. I removed it from the box outside and carried the unit inside and upstairs myself, but it was heavy (seller recommends 2 person transport and install). The box and packing material was approx 10 lbs of the total. The manual is good- written in clear English. It provides clear guidance on how to do the minimal assembly required- that is a 10-15 minute job at most. Next, lift it into the window, close the window down to hold it in place, and (optionally) use screws to secure everything. Two accordion type side panels are provided to seal the window space next to the unit, and foam insulation is also included to seal the window. The energy efficiency info sheet indicates that this unit is on the less efficient end of the spectrum, but 10-11 range is typical for this price point. Spending a lot more will get you inverter technology that is a lot more efficient, which would definitely pay off for heavy users in high cost areas, but not for my needs. Turn it on, either at the panel or with the remote, and it immediately starts blowing a lot of cold air. I can't really stress test it in early March, but the room felt cooler in a few minutes. It's really quiet, especially at lower fan speeds, but you can hear the compressor cycle on and off, which is very typical for units of theis type. The extra features it has include the remote control, count down timer, eco mode, "dry" mode (which cycles the compressor and fan in ways that maximize dehumidification), auto mode, which adjusts fan speed to maintain comfort, and sleep mode. The primary function that this unit lacks in web connection. That means that you cannot set it at a higher temp or turn it off when you leave in the morning and remotely cool off your room before you leave work to arrive in a comfortable house. If that is a function that is important to you, look elsewhere. It also does not have motorized louvers to increase air distribution, found on same high end units. If what you need is a reasonably efficient machine to cool off a room, you won't go wrong with this one.
