We have full-house ducted air, and I thought this unit would be a great money saver instead of running the whole house all the time. We usually set the house at 68-70 overnight, but there is no reason to cool 1400 sq ft 24/7 when you aren't using all of the spaces. This portable air conditioner is the perfect solution. We set this up in the bedroom for overnight cooling and leave the main unit off or on high so it doesn't come on. The unit arrived well packaged, and the setup was reasonably simple. There is an installation video in the listing images, and also brief instructions in the box. The instructions are a little confusing with the placement of the adhesive and non-adhesive foam pieces that were supplied. So you might need to read it a few times before installing. There didn't seem to be enough foam pieces for us, and we had to get more. You can't use the small piece of non-adhesive foam on the bottom of the window frame under the window blocking slides, and also on top of the open window to seal between the 2 panes on a hung window. There isn't enough foam, and we just had a 30-ish inch window. There are extra slide pieces for wider windows, but certainly not enough foam pieces for such an installation. Anyway, we messed ours up a bit by thinking the thicker non-adhesive foam was for the top and the thin adhesive foam was for the bottom (after re-reading the instructions, it says to use it in both places). We didn't have enough of the thin to go around the window and had to call for backups in the shed. Needless to say, the thin was too thin for our old crooked windows, and we had to pack it out more, with our own foam, after the slides were installed. Confused yet? Watch the videos, read twice, and cut once. Make sure you have enough foam. Also, the duct hole, duct, and locking clip don't fit tightly, and we needed a bit more foam there. On a positive note, the adhesive foam is REALLY sticky, so be careful. It comes with a remote (with batteries, yahoo). It is easy to operate. It is powerful and cools down our large room quickly. The first night we ran it on speed 2, which was great but far too noisy for us, being used to ducted air. It was more like a hotel under-window unit, and you know how loud those things can get, cutting in and out. The compressor cuts out, and the fan still runs. When the compressor cuts in and out, it is loud. Since then, we have only run it on 1/low, and it is much better, although still clearly louder than ducted air coming on and off. We have had some water leakage (not much) on the rug, not sure from where. I would advise getting a drain pan just in case to protect your floors. There is a drainage hose and drainage instructions for when it gets full. You don't have to have it draining all the time. This unit was $439 at the time of order and is currently listed at $339, which I think is excellent value. So far, our daily electricity usage seems lower, but we haven't had it long enough to report on the difference it makes to our bill. I would absolutely recommend this unit, but just be aware of the noise in a bedroom if you aren't used to it.

When I first got it I liked it because it was easy to install and it cooled off my living room fast. I got it on a Saturday and things were good until about after a day I noticed an odd smell in my apartment. It smelled stale and then it began to smell metallic. It is now Wednesday and I can’t take the smell so I will be returning. From what I read online it could be that there are frayed metal parts or perhaps that it’s just the unit, but regardless who wants to pay almost $400 for a smelly apartment? Will be a pain to have to take down the stairs but I hate it enough to go through the hassle, especially on the off chance that something is wrong within the mechanics of the unit. Also, not sure what all the hype is about it being quiet, it’s actually not. It’s not excessively loud, but they have no right to advertise it as quiet, when I have to turn on my TV quite loud since buying this unit. People who say it is quiet are either lying or deaf.

This ac unit is amazing he’s part about it is you do not have to drain the water on ac mode I got two other ones that on ac mode you would have to drain the water constantly or it would fill up every 30 minutes
