Description

Polyester Thread We use the very best thread from Champion Threads in Gastonia, NC to keep our tarps protecting you through the heaviest of winds and rain. Polyester thread is the most versatile choice for industrial sewing. It has the strength of nylon plus UV and mildew resistance. Water, Mold, and Mildew Resistant Only the top shelf in water, mold and mildew protection from Buckeye Fabric Finishing in Coshocton, OH is used on our Heavy Duty Canvas tarps. This protective coating has a unique military smell that takes you back in time. This smell dissipates quickly outdoors, but the protection lives on! 100% Cotton Canvas Not only are our canvas tarps Heavy Duty, they are also made from 100% Cotton. Talk about a natural and sustainable product! Just like our clothes, these tarps are susceptible to shrinkage in certain climates. Industrial Grade D-Rings Industrial strength d-rings are used for the very best in strapping and securing. This special feature will hold up extremely well in high winds and driving rain. Each d-ring is sewn into a three layer patch and further secured with high strength webbing. When you buy a Tarp Nation heavy duty canvas tarp you are buying factory direct, no middle man. Tools of the Trade We still use the old school tools of the trade to make our tarps with quality and precision. Our methods have never broken, so we have never had to fix them. Hand Sewn Tarps All of our tarps are hand made right here on site. Pride is put into each and every tarp that comes out of the sewing machine. Cool and Dry Not only do our canvas tarps keep your valuables dry, but they also keep them cool by breathing out the hot air. Read more Things to know about your new tarp The Cut Size of a tarp is the size of the material when it is being cut. After all of the hems and seems are made the overall tarp size will be smaller, typically 3-5%. The Finish Size of a tarp is the actual size after all hems and seems are made. Although very strong, we do not recommend this tarp for highway travel. See our Heavy Duty Vinyl. Your canvas tarp can be re-treated with Canvak for years of service and durability. This canvas tarp is not fire resistant and will burn if brought into contact with flames. Extra Components That Make This Tarp Great! Industrial D-Rings Every d-ring is spaced at 3' intervals and reinforced with a four layer canvas patch that provides an excellent base and extra strength. Breathable One of the greatest features of a canvas tarps is that it doesn't trap moisture and heat. The breathable quality of a canvas tarp is extremely helpful in protecting your valuables from moisture. Hems & Seems All hems are double lock stitched for a superior hold. Every panel seem is double chain stitched. Read more

  • Made in the USA!!!!!
I ordered this tarp to cover a large toolbox in the back of my truck, it works great and is as described with sewn in D rings. Other reviews talk about a strong smell, if you have ever been around canvas wall tents or canvas tarps in general well that's the smell. Well worth the money and made in the USA. ... show more

  • Honestly? Works well on the road!!
So..they said this wasn’t built for ‘road-use!’ I looked and looked to find out why... 1200 miles later this tarp showed zero signs of wear. Not to tell the manufacturer how to sell but wow..this is rugged, thick, water runs off of it. And...it fit my trailer to a T! I did have it tied down so there would be no flapping..maybe that’s the trick on ‘road use’ being sure that it’s tied off well. Great product. ... show more

  • Smells like an Army GP Medium Tent!
Looks like a great tarp. Exactly the size in need for my long bed Tundra. Rating feature choices displayed with the review are weird. Durability and Sturdiness? Thinking about rating one 1 star and the other 5 star to see if the world explodes. Can't comment on that or water resistance. It's new and hasn't been used yet. Stitching looks great. Clearly waterproofed with the same stuff the old Army used on its canvas tents. Can't quite tell if it invokes nostalgia, or PTSD... ... show more

  • Chemical smell
Chemical on the tarp emits extremely strong fumes. I’ve left my out on the sun for a week now and still there. Don’t handle it without gloves if you don’t want the chemicals on you

  • I'll never buy another cheap plastic tarp again!
I've bought three of these tarps, in different sizes, and they are all excellent quality; I couldn't be more pleased. I have the kind with D-rings, and they're very substantial: sturdy, heavy canvas, with the rings securely sewn in. I use one as a permanent cover for my firewood rack, and the other two for yard work. I'll be ordering another larger one soon, to serve as a roof for my chicken yard. ... show more

  • Perfect!
Tied this down over my load in the back of my F350 and drove 960 miles non-stop and it held up wonderfully. Even when parked overnight the tarp kept the rain off my stuff. Comments about it smelling bad are correct, it reminds me of my first boyscout tent and it keeps the water out just as well. What I did was to lay it out, outside for about a week to let it air out. Since this is only used outside I don't find the smell that bad. I do have to wash my hands whenever I deal with it but then it's a heavy duty outside tarp. This thing is great and I recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind having to wash their hands ... show more

  • Unfortunately kind of a let down
I had high hopes for this tarp, one that could really go the distance and cover all the bases I needed covered but it’s kinda a let down. The tarp is super sturdy, very strong, heavily treated canvas. It does have an industrial chemical treatment smell, but it doesn’t bother me and it’ll fade over time and use. The real problem I have with this tarp is the D-rings, they are disproportionally small and weak rings. Both in their physical design and how they’re secured. Not a lot of diameter on the rings, really anyway you assessed them they’re just small, and the stitching is far below par. I’m not a seamstress but I do rock climb and I do expect my stitching to be load bearing. Sure of course not 30KN strong but at least a professional stitch. Also the nylon webbing is very weak stuff, it will fray easily. The tarp itself will survive because it was made strong but this thing will fail at its attachment points. Also tested the waterproofing, mostly held back a pool of water but a few beads did find their way through. It sat there for 15 mins, so pretty good waterproofing. Sad result is I’ll be returning because I’d rather have my $80 than this tarp. ... show more

  • Holds up in strong winds
Size: 8x16
I bought 2 of these a couple years ago, and purchased 2 more recently as back-up. We're using them as protection siding for equipment parked on either side of our farm's pumphouse. They are hung up attached to 4x4's using galvanized hooks and they've held up perfectly for over a year in strong winds and blowing rain. The canvas doesn't get much direct sunlight, but does feel the wind and rain. We're very happy with the performance and glad we could remove the old T-111 paneling which the canvas replaced. ... show more
