It is little black ant season and they leave the base of a large cedar tree and come up a deck and into my back bedroom - I HATE them. This kills ants only when sprayed directly on the pests - and since they must have a huge home nest I'm spraying on them every warm day (they stay home on cold or rainy days). A huge positive is that the spray doesn't smell funky and doesn't kill family pets or my family.

This stuff is GREAT but it has a few minor drawbacks; I'll explain below. NOTE: While its NOT TOXIC to pets; avoid them ingesting it anyways as they will get diarrhea from it as a side effect. You can spray near the edge of litter boxes and the adjacent walls where insects may appear from but not directly on or into the litter box. First off it's perfect to use to get rid of the majority of house pests (not including the two legged kinds) without trouble. Ants, Bugs, Spiders, and Termites all run when this stuff is put into a simple spray bottle and walk around the house to spray as needed: door and window frames to kitchen shelves. Remember that this stuff is sticky until it dries and even then there's a little bit of tackiness about it; so wipe with a clean wet cloth to remove it from where you don't want to touch it. If doing the outside of the house and yard; I would recommend a 1 Gallon Lawn and Garden Pump Pressure Sprayer with 3 Water Nozzles, Pressure Relief Valve, Adjustable Shoulder Strap available at Amazon or local hardware/Big Box Tool Store. I do recommend that you cut the formula for spraying to 3:1 mix of Distilled or Bottled Water to Orange Guard solution to allow it to pass through the pump wand easier. Use a FINE or MIST Setting on the spray pump wand and go slow and even over the areas you want to spray. Usually you should the base of the house around the Heat and Air Conditioning Units outdoors anywhere Insects and other pest can enter the house about 18 to 24 inches. This includes electrical outlets and water taps outside. Spray along the outside of gutter down spout/drains (again 18-24 inches). If you spray outdoor plants to prevent bugs remember that you should spray them and then wash it off after a week or wait until about 2 hours after it rains to apply. Don't forget to wash your hands and shower afterwards since you'll smell like you spilled spoiled Orange Juice on yourself after using it. It's the old downside the smell dissipates after about an hour or so and can be annoying the first time you use it.

Lowe's quit selling this product and I momentarily went into a panic, then I calmed down when I got out my phone and saw that I could order it on Amazon. We don't like to have harmful chemicals around the house so we've used this product for years. It quickly kills ants, wasps, the little brown roaches that hitch rides in brown paper bags, spiders . . . and has the pleasant smell of orange, not the gagging smell of chemicals. I've sprayed this on wasps as they were flying toward me and they drop out of the air immediately. Since I'm allergic to both wasps and a lot of chemicals, this is the perfect solution. I keep a spray bottle by all the doors to take out in the yard with me so that I can be safe while I'm out in the garden, walking out the front to get the mail or going out in the garage to get in the car. Last year, because of our severe drought conditions, the city had an epidemic of Black Widows. They were in our bushes, by the water faucets, in the garage, in the shed, around the front & back porch -- it truly was the "plague of Black Widows". We went through Orange Guard like crazy keeping our dogs, cats and ourselves safe from these poisonous spiders. We weren't about to kill spiders and then poison ourselves with the typical chemical insecticide. This works as well as well-known chemical insecticides, if not BETTER. It's safe to use around food (not ON food, but around food -- like at a picnic, for example), is safe around pets & children and adults. This is our product of choice when it comes to dealing with unwanted pests. I'm am SO GLAD that I was able to find it on Amazon!!!!!!!!! Thank you Amazon!

While spraying garbage can under the sink seems to slow down fruit flies, spraying them directly has very little effect. If you hit them right, it may drown them. I have better luck using Windex when they are flying or sitting on the edge of my ACV trap (go figure on that). Also, spraying down the sink drains, another possible source for eggs, seems to help. For the price, I am extremely disappointed.

I mix this with water to spray on plants that have an insect problem and spray in the house full strength where I have ants. For both I think this is a very environmentally responsible way to deal with insect infestations. My pets are safe, no toxic chemicals, smells pleasant and it REALLY works. I have been using Orange Guard for years now and will continue to do so. First time I bought in the large jug, but this is probably the most economical way to purchase.

I’ve tried a lot of natural insect repellents, but Orange Guard is the only one that’s actually worked.
