  • Good Buy
I have incorporated this panel as part of a DIY solar generator project and it works great. I was able to pull in a steady 65 watts on a sunny day as long as I moved it every hour or two in the general direction of the sun. If aligned the best I could directly with the sun, I was able to pull in 75 watts. I am not sure if 65% to 75% of the rated watts is consider good for a portable panels, but I am happy with those results as my expectations were not really high for something portable. Having the USB Quick Charge (QC) and USB C, along with DC port makes these panels very versatile and user friendly. You can charge up almost any device including phones, laptops, and solar power stations and don't need to know anything about solar if you are looking for something to just plug into to charge up devices. In the product image it shows Type-C as 12V/3A output which would be 36 watts of power. I was pleasantly surprised I was able to pull a steady 55 watts of power over the Type-C with a good quality cable. Easy to set up and pack away. When folded up, they fit nicely inside my DIY solar generator crate. I found the kickstand legs are a little flimsy and have a limited range of adjustment for setting the optimal angle. However, they work fine on a flat or solid surface. ... show more

  • Not only cool: It's very usable, too
Not only is this device just plain cool, it has real depth as a gadget. Folded with a carrying handle, it's lightweight, about the size of a thin briefcase, unfolding about 4 feet in 4 sections that remain connected. The section with the handle has a pouch with the controller that includes a standard solar connection output cable, USB-A & USB-C ports, and a handy auxiliary output wire with several different power adapters ... I used mine at an event to top off my big portable 12volt lithium battery as I used it for my 50watt ham VHF radio (In an earlier test, it had charged that battery when dead in about 3 hours on a very gray overcast day) ... It also charged my dead cellphone to full in 45 minutes ... O yeah: I ran my ham radio receiver all 8 hours that gray day while transmitting a brief hourly checkin. At the end of the day, the battery was fully charged! ... Really, I see no reason to look any further for portable solar because this product has it all. ... show more

  • USB-C capable, but it's probably not a good idea in low light.
The USB-C port supports a fairly wide range of charge protocols(see picture) - but if you ask for more amperage than the sun is providing, it will reset and renegotiate the power demands. This behavior is in-spec for USB-C, but not what you want for low-light situations. (Note that the bottom line offers PD3.0 60W, which is near the practical limit for the panel ( 100w -25% controller loss = 75w) despite the photo being taken at 10am in the middle of winter. It agrees to that power level, but can't provide it.) You might get better performance charging your USB-C device using an A-to-C cable in one of the USB-A ports, which will provide a steady 5v, but not be picky about giving you all the amperage it can with it. Use the USB-C plug on bright sunny days when it can actually deliver the 20v 3a it will negotiate. ... show more

  • Great
This worked really well !

  • The panels seem flimsy & flex a lot & the weight of the unit means they will glex
This 100W panel worked great at first, but after a few times use it suddenly stoped outputting completely... no green light on the plug panel when unfolded in full sunlight. Nada. Nothing. Dead. The panels are pretty flimsy & flex quite a bit, so not sure if a connection within the unit failed or what. No visible fuse(s). There doesn't seem to be a way to easily return this, so get the $8 3-year warranty for this, lol. Will take it apart if non-returnable & see what's up. Update: Upon slicing open the fabric behind the charge controller, it was discovered that the connections are barely 'insulated' with small squares of duct tape stuck over them rather than (in the least) separately insulated with electrical tape, & being right next to each other, we suspect under full power they shorted, frying the unfused circuit board that is the charge controller. Just really poorly assembled. So a 12 volt fuse installed & a new charge controller should bring the panrls back to life. Update 2: After removing the old, &/protecting the new ($10 on Amazon) charge controller with a 12v fuse on both the + & - leads, & insulating everything properly coming off of the last panel with electrical tape, the panels are back working & essentially putting out the same output (22.7v) as before through the 2 new 5v @ 3A USB C connections. The fused inputs from the panels goes into the 'battery' terminals (instead of 'panel' terminals) on the new controller if used without a storage battery wired directly to the controller. The photo shows the panel hookup used standalone to just output via the USB ports. ... show more

  • Specs on Panel and Review
First, the specs. I couldn't find them anywhere online. Operating Voltage: 20.42 Working Current: 4.9 A Open-circuit voltage: 24.55 V Short-circuit current: 5.23 A There is a lot to love about this little portable solar panel. Small and light (folded size 16"x16", less than 7 lbs). Construction seems solid. The top output through the MC4 connectors was 60-65W in full sun, which is comparable to my other portable solar panel. USB-A ports delivered 15W, although I didn't test using both at the same time. The DC out port worked fine; I didn't test the currrent. Unfortunately, the panel I received had a non-functioning USB-C port so I am having to return for a replacement. I don't know if this is indicative of a generally poor quality build, or just a one-off. If the next panel if fully functional, I'll update my review. I'd love to buy a second one of these to run in parallel. The price is great. ... show more

  • Bargin, easy to live with
Low price, compact portable solar that works. Small packed size. I would not cry even if the sunny day output is 80 watts. I have only had semi cloudy days, but it's output is comparable to my other 100w panel.
