The display image is 1.9" W x 1.45" H. A machinist's scale division of 0.1" at minimum magnification is 0.85" on the screen while at maximum magnification is 1.35" on the screen. Thus, object magnification is 8.5x to 13.5x and not 1000, of course. Nonetheless, the attractiveness of the microscope is that a child can operate it easily and with good stability. Pictures and videos at 1920x1080 can be retrieved from the memory card and displayed on a computer monitor nicely. See the example photos I have included to show what one can expect. The included slide specimens are helpful to pique a child's natural curiosity as a starting point. I rate the picture clarity as good enough.

When I first got this, I thought it was broken as the glass on the bottom was not on it fully open when I got it and when I powered it on to test it, I could not see anything and it was blurry, but when I pointed it kind of to a light, I did get some image. So then I decided to try my finger and lo and behold as you can see in the first picture there is a black dot in one of them and that is actually a hair follicle on my finger which was super cool. I then decided to test it out on the slides that were in there and and wanted to test the honeybee leg and it was super cool, but I had a hard time adjusting that when I ended up finding out is the glass and this is a hint for anyone that if you put the glass back on the bottom and look on it there is a slide on the bottom of it that you use to slide the slide into and it makes it a lot easier to align up and then you can view the picture which was so cool. I wanted to test it out on my MacBook Pro, but was unable to because I have a USB-C port.

Perfect gift idea for curious kids!! Such a fun and educational toy! My child loves catching little bugs and looking at them up close on the screen. The viewer is so clear and the view is absolutely amazing. The battery life can run for days if used sparingly. It’s lightweight, easy to hold, and the controls are simple enough for kids to use on their own. A great way to get children excited about science and nature. Highly recommend to keep your kids away from tablets!!
