Don't waste your money. The plug is super cheap. The breaker in the plug came loose and rattled inside. The motor ended up burning out within the first week of use.

I got this to actually go on my kiddie pool. It works believe it or not and works well too! It needs to have water inside the cylinder though before you just turn it on and think its going to just suck the water and prime itself. That is not gonna happen but as long as you fill it up it will run like a scolded dog. Its pretty quiet compared to some I have heard. Not silent but not too bad either. I definitely recommend this to anyone who has an above ground pool in need of filtration. As long as its not too big you should not have any problem.

Do not buy if you want to not have pump running non stop for entire season. The method of pumping is to use pressure through the pump so water does not leak out of top. So if you have an issues with power outages don't buy this pump. Most of your pool water will be lost before you even realize it.

The media could not be loaded. I enjoy my portable cold plunge and been thinking of various ways to keep the water filtered so I can use the water for few more days. One method is to use the pool filter pump. Most portable cold plunge baths have a drain at the bottom, so I plugged the intake hose to the valve, put the output valve back into the bath and clipped it to the side of the wall with a clamp and voila! The pump is effective. VERY IMPORTANT! The pump will only work when it has a flow of water into the intake. This means there has to be a direct flow into the intake via gravity feed (pump positioned lower than the body of water) or direct pressure, usually requiring water pressure to push the water into the pump first. If you have neither, it will not work! This pump is modest in size so it's perfect for my use case, but not sure how the pump will do with a much larger volume of water running all day. I turn mine on for 10 min then turn it off. I'll add a timer in the future. That said, this thing works!

Only ran the pump for an hr or hr and a half and the pump is at almost completely failure. Checked hoses for blockage, checked filter, purged pump several times and it's barely putting out water. When I first set it up it was great, shooting water almost half way across the small kids pool. But never expected it to fail in less than 2 hours. Don't not waste your money or time

Right out of box will not pump, can't see why because it's all sealed in plastic. Don't waste your time and money. Update: got the pump working, the problem was if any air is in the system it will not work. If any air gets in the system it stops working. Will not self purg the air. That would have been nice to have known. Going from a 1 star to a 3 star.
