In the photo the bottom example is normal and the top example is what came in this package. It still works, but not the right size. It could affect how long it will work by being susceptible to breaking, then the pin could fall out. In addition it is harder to remove the clip.

I have broken more pins on my new snow thrower in one season than in ten years with my old snow thrower. This IS NOT the pins fault! The manufacturer should have used a pin the next size up in width. With that said, these pins are an exact replacement and I can quickly insert a new pin.
