Tried other products that were plastic rim and diffusers and those always looked cheap. We wanted a skylight effect and these looks great, the glass helps the light look natural. No flickering, no patchy dark spots, just a nice disc of warm/neutral light without the tinge of green that so many led's can have. They dim smoothly throughout the entire intensity range, unlike others that dim to 30% and cut out. Install was average compared to other flush mounts of this type. So glad we found these, very happy with the look! We did receive one that had scratches in the paint on the rim and sent back for replacement, really appreciate Amazon's policy with that. ... show more

    • DIDN'T LOVE THE INSTALL, BUT IT LOOKS AND WORKS GREAT

I've installed a couple of 14" flush mount LED ceiling lamps like this from Costco, and found installation a snap and the finished product great. But I needed a 10 inch size, wanted real metal and glass, and this light seemed perfect, at least from the product page. And once installed, I give it five stars for appearance and functionality. But I'm deducting one star for an installation that was more difficult than it should have been. First, I could not re-use the existing screws that went into my junction box, so had to use the new ones that came with this light and they were very short, while my junction box screwholes are somewhat recessed. The screws reached, but just barely, so I spent at least a half-hour, working mostly blind, trying to get the screws lined up exactly right so I could start threading them. Of course, I also had one hand holding the mounting plate to the ceiling while one-handing the screw. What a pain, and longer junction box screws that are standard for this application would have eliminated the problem. The second issue was that the light, itself, is very heavy for its size, and getting the hang wire clipped to the mounting plate so that I could actually wire the electrical proved balky, so it was annoying that what could have been a 10-15 minute installation ending up taking much longer. Once finished, however, I was really pleased with the light and dimming works well with one of the Leviton dimmers recommended by the manufacturer. I'd say that the 3000K color temp is good, general purpose lighting on the warm side, but not nearly as yellow/warm as 2700K LEDs that I've had, and I consider that a good thing. My Costco lights have easily switchable color temp between 3000K, 4000K and 5000K and that would be a nice addition to this light. But no stars deducted for that since I knew what I was buying. The style is nice, the light is great. Installation is easy due to two simple things: 1-The cable with a clip to hold the light fixture so that it's not dangling from electrical wires while you're working above your head. All ceiling fixtures should have to have this! 2- Washers to go with the screws for the junction box. Again, why don't all ceiling fixtures have this. I've always added washers so the entire fixture isn't just dangling from two #6 screws. Very pleased with these lights and have installed six in my house. ... show more
