Used these in France for a few weeks w/o issue. It was nice having a single outlet with plenty of connections for various things. We put one in the kitchen and another pair in the bedrooms. I had no issues having my macbook plugged in at the same time as a couple USB devices charging.

This is a well made adapter that fits easily into Japanese sockets. It gives you a three prong socket, a two prong socket and several USB plugs; these make it useful for running and charging several devises off a single socket. This is not a converter, but you don’t really need one: Japan’s electrical specs are similar to that of North America: they use 100 V while the US at 110V. Almost every US device will run happily off Japanese current. Get this adapter if you need to plug several things into one socket while in Japan, not because you think you need to convert the voltage.

I took this adapter with me for a week long trip to Germany. This was a fantastic adapter to have. It's not the cheapest way to charge your phone, but I think it was the best. The fold down plug makes it more portable than some others. The plug stays in the wall better than the very small adapters that don't have any built in USBs. I used this adapter to charge my phones and plugged my laptop charger into it as well, which kept everything secure.
