I ordered this Small Safe for Home Use after I had received and reviewed a really bad safe about the same size. This safe is three times as expensive as the other one and at least three times better. I gave this safe four stars instead of three for the simple reasons that 1) It was missing a piece - one of the bolts for the pin that secures the internal shelf and 2) I had to drill a third hole through the back of the safe to really secure the safe to the wall without it wobbling a little bit. The metal comprising the back of the safe is thin enough that it flexes with just the two pre-drilled holes. For the price, I would expect stiffer, or thicker metal, so that the two pre-drilled holes were enough to secure the safe without any wobble. Note: The safe does not come with the 4 AA batteries required to use the button-code. I don’t have a problem with this, as I would rather install fresh batteries and not worry about the quality of included batteries. Other note: Drills do not fit well inside this safe, for installing. I installed using the back bolts and had to use an extension to drive a thick screw into the backing. The safe comes with concrete expansion bolts which would probably best be also driven with an extension attached to a driver or drill. Good things about the safe: The instructions were quite clear, and the front diagram did tell you where the reset button is. Coding my own number into the safe was very easy and worked fine. Two keys are included and they have an etched number, presumably for replacement. The keys are not magnetic. They worked fine in opening the safe, and in fact are necessary to open the safe for the first time. The safe is heavy - nearly 10 pounds. Most of that is in the front door, which is thick and has two heavy duty bolts that secure the front door shut. The safe is easily big enough for a normal-sized handgun and ammo. The safe is not pry-able - the door overlaps the closed section just fine. The safe can be installed via the back or the bottom to a surface. Things I was not happy about: Missing bolt for the shelf - I have a whole box of bolts but could not fine one that size. The holes were relatively low on the back, and I’m not sure why, since the shelf is easy to unattach and lay on the bottom of the safe, so it doesn’t get in the way of installation. I just drilled a third hole at the top (and this was surprisingly easy, again suggesting that the metal on the back of the safe wasn’t super thick). Overall, the safe is going to keep someone out as long as they are not too determined or who doesn’t have access to power tools. However, someone with a grinder with a cutting blade, or a drill and a skill-saw, could probably cut a hole in the side or bottom of the safe pretty easily. If the safe is mounted in a place where the sides and bottom are not accessible, then it’s going to be a lot more secure.
