This safe is not fireproof. The door wiggles and does not seal tight, which would allow any flame or water inside for that matter. The safe is heavy which only makes returning it an even bigger headache. Very disappointed. Do not buy if you are looking for fire protection.

I wasn't 100% sure where I would employ this particular lock box, but after receiving it, I think I may have finally found a use. I picked up something similar a year before and passed it onto my folks for use with document storage and a few knick-knacks in their closet - however, it is the small size of this that can be both a benefit, or a curse. For me, this will be relegated to an in-vehicle lock box since it's size doesn't lend me much other use. The outside walls of this safe feel light duty to me, as does the hinge on the door. The rotating handle to open the door is plastic, and you can feel it want to "yield" if you turn it even slightly further than it is designed for - which may lend itself to breaking relatively easily. I think this is a good enough lock box to deter someone from trying to get what's inside your vehicle for the amount of time, effort, and noise it would take to break into it, but in all honesty, I think at the most, I'll just keep extra magazines in it, and keep my daily carry on me at the most... it's just a little too light duty for me. ... show more

Worked perfectly right out of the box! I’m currently using it to store some extra credit cards, and it’s doing the job well. The size is just right for keeping essentials secure without taking up much space. I’m even considering mounting it to a closet wall for added convenience.
