  • sleek and accurate
Color: Black
I can't imagine the mind that thought, "You know what would be handy? A kitchen scale that charges your phone!" But once you get your head around the concept, it is a pretty good idea. I mean, we all have our phones with us all the time. So when you are cooking and you finish measuring your ingredients or your portion or whatever you need to weigh, you can set your phone down and charge it while you make your food. OK, so it still sounds a little odd to me. My head isn't totally around the idea. But just as a kitchen scale, this is terrific. ZWILLING J.A. Henckels is an old German company. I have several Henckels knives that are excellent. This scale is manufactured in China, but the design and quality strike me as very German. It is heavy, sturdy, and sleek. It weighs things to a tenth of an ounce or tenth of a gram -- incredibly accurate. It is easy to charge and then does not need a cord or replaceable batteries. The most difficult thing for me was figuring out how to turn it on! The digital touch switch is on the front, not on the top, so I had to read the instruction manual to find it and figure it out. And I had to fiddle around with the touch controls until I could figure out how to zero out the weight and switch between ounces and grams. But all this took no more than five minutes and I was ready to go. I'm not a fancy baker, so don't usually weigh my ingredients like you are advised to do. But I use a scale for some things, like when making marmalade, and like to weigh portions when I'm trying to slim. I also like a scale to calculate postage. This goes up to 22 pounds/10 kilograms, so is handy for weighing letters and small packages. As for the charging feature, I'm still getting used to it. I put my phone on it and it flashed to let me know that my phone was charging. I need to get in the habit of setting my phone on it when I'm in the kitchen to make use of this feature. ... show more

  • This looks futuristic
Color: Black
A lot of times, I forget what this is sitting on my counter. It looks like a very large flat phone charger. I forget it does so much more. I've weighed many things just to see how accurate it is - it is right on! If you're gonna start measuring your food for a New Year's diet, start with this one here. ... show more

  • Why did I get this?
Color: Black
I still don't know. This an answer to a question no one asked and I somehow like it. The weight measuring portion of the it work perfectly and has everything you would expect like being able to change the unit of measurement, tare etc. The charging portion of it work, thats all I can tell you. I've been hesitant in putting my phone on it just because of the possible germ contamination. ... show more

  • I am not sure we needed a Wireless charger and Food Scale
Color: Black
A product category that I am not sure that we needed but here we are. The scale is made out of high quality components and feels like a quality product. There are a few puzzling design decisions that have turned off my wife from using it. My wife likes to bake and swapping between metric and imperial measurements is not easy. You need to lift the scale up and press the bottom button. When you are baking, that is not an optimal user experience. The front "power" button to turn on the scale function is finicky and sometimes takes me multiple touches to get the scale ready to weight objects. Overall, a well built product that I question the need for. ... show more

  • Nice Scale
Color: Black
I do an amount of weighing in my work, so I needed a convenient, accurate scale. The ZWILLING meets the needs. I like that it is thin and not heavy, so easy to transport. It is also easy to use - the button on front is a touch type instead of a push button, and it works well. It also serves to do TARE weight by swiping on the button to the left. On-off is by maintaining contact. What I like the most is the accuracy. I tried both 500 gram and 2000 gram verification weights, and it was dead on for each over multiple trials. I also stacked 5 test weights for a total of 2820 grams (6.2 pounds). It was exact at the addition of each weight to the stack. That is one of the best results I have seen, very impressive. The scale lists as being to weigh up to 22 pounds. I do wish it was a little smaller, maybe 2/3 size for what I do and to be a "kitchen scale," but the size still works. I would like a top surface that was more fingerprint proof, but that has nothing to do with the function. I haven't tried the charging feature, but for what I need, it is a 5 star product. ... show more

  • Great Scale, Also an Expensive Phone Charger
Color: Black
This scale works really well for my wife while she is baking and cooking. We are trying to reduce our portions and get better at knowing the portion size, based on weight. I want to look at a handful of ground beef and know it is about 12 oz., or the same for other items, so eventually we don't have to weigh items to know how much it is. The scale is easy to calibrate and it is quite accurate. My wife has an older and bigger scale we checked against. Now the new one will take up less space in the kitchen. I tried it and it works for charging the phones, but w aren't really using it for that. You end up having to double clean it. ... show more
