  • Checks off all the boxes & then some! (review also includes instructions on using counting/PCS fcn)
Color: Orange
I love everything about this little scale! It checked off all the boxes for me, which no other mini scale did: - Readability to 2 decimal places for grams and 3 for ounces. It’s quite sensitive (just blow on it), but still settles. - Seems to be accurate (will see how it fares over time) - Includes counting/’PCS’ function (***detailed instructions below***) - Small & portable - Easy to read - Solid build with elegant design - Includes own tray (that stores upside down on the scale) - Includes own weight to calibrate. (Do I know the weight is accurate? No, but I know it’s at least pretty close--weighs same as 10 nickels at 5 grams each--and more than close enough for my needs.) - Secure but still easy-to-use locking clip on outside - Secure battery compartment (comes with own screw driver) - Very reasonable price/great value Bonus points (wasn’t necessarily looking for these features, but great to have) for: - Capacitive touch buttons (no ability for substance to get in under the buttons and very sensitive to the touch with fingers but not other stuff, although I know the touch sensitivity is a con for some) - Being able to plug in (USB cable included) in case batteries die during use. (Read other reviewers’ warnings/notes about having regular vs. rechargeable batteries in place when plugged in.) Only two relatively small Cons for me. - There is a slight gap on the right side of my unit where the scale component connects to/sits in the base--it’s just not flush like the left side and I worry about substances getting in there. I have tried to see if it will snap in tighter or further, but it does not. Not a huge deal. - The lack of instructions on how to use the counting/PCS feature. Neither the instructions in the brief “pamphlet” in the box nor those on the inside of the cover (but handy for calibrating the scale) included documentation on how to use the counting feature. I ended up spending a while hunting around online trying to find instructions for scales that also offered a counting feature and was often met with the same lack of documentation, but I did get a few ideas. Then I just played around with it, testing out various approaches, until I figured it out and could document it clearly. ***HOW TO USE THE 'PCS' FUNCTION TO COUNT ITEMS*** => Note that items you wish to count must be uniform in weight (as much as possible). => Also, fyi, the “ct” mode refers to carats, a measure of weight used for gemstones, and has nothing to do with the counting function of this scale--that is what the PCS (pieces) button is for. First you must set your "count weight." 1. Predetermine the item count you will use to set the count weight--you have 4 options: 25, 50, 75 or 100 items (higher counts are only really needed for very light items*). 2. Turn scale on. (Of course, hit the TARE button if you add a tray/bowl after the scale is turned on.) 3. From *any* mode, place your 25 items (or 50, 75 or 100) onto the scale. 4. Long press the PCS button until you get 25 or 50 (this can be adjusted). 5. Hit the MODE button to cycle through the 4 options until you are on the one that is the same as the number of items you placed on the scale. 6. Hit the PCS button to set the count weight. Now you are ready to count your items! 1. Make sure you are in the count/pieces mode. If not, hit the PCS button to get there (regular press, not long to enter into counting mode). 2. Add items to count or add/remove items to reach a desired count. (Can be more or less than what you used when setting the count weight.) Bonus: This scale will remember the weight of the last item you set a count weight for, even after you've turned off your scale (assuming your batteries haven't died). *The higher the count used to set your count weight, the greater accuracy you will have. However, using a higher item count only seems necessary with very light items. When counting paperclips or pills, for example, using the minimum of 25 items to set your weight seems to be sufficient. ... show more

  • Very Good : Big CAUTION
Color: Black
I checked this scale when I received it and it appeared to work well. The instructions say that it usually doesn't need to be calibrated, as that's done at the factory. But, since I purchased it to make fine measurements, I decided to calibrate it with certified weights from an older, and finicky, scale (hence the purchase). I was shocked when the 30g weight read 8g and the 20g weight read 5.31g. Ran through the modes and powered the unit on/off several times - no change. Then I ran the calibration program and now it reads perfectly. It's also sensitive to very small weight additions - important to me. The readings are also very steady, once the unit locks in, which it does quickly. So, if you have calibration weights, this is a good buy. If not, I strongly suggest that you purchase a unit that includes calibration weights..... ... show more

  • compact, and precise scale for measuring spices.
Color: Black
this thing is extremely accurate. I bought a set of calibration weights just to make sure it's up to snuff, and it definitely didn't disappoint on accurate reading. plus it's small enough to store anywhere in the kitchen... or your snuff box if that's your thing, I ain't judging. definitely worth every penny. ... show more

  • Easy to use
Color: Black
Compact. Doesn't feel or perform cheaply. Does what It should. Has been accurate from day 1. Its easy to tare. The only complaint I had was in order to tare "correctly" you are requred to buy a 50g weight. I did, it was only a couple bucks. But, who likes buy a product and learn you need to buy a special tool for it? Right? But, it truly was only a minor inconvenience and all in all I say this scale is a keeper. I use it for coins and its a breeze. ... show more

  • I like it
Color: Black
I didn't have a standard weight to calibrate it but I did some quick sanity tests with coins. E.g., a penny is 2.5g and a nickel is 5.9g. Of course, there is some variation in the coins themselves, but this scale seemed to be right on for the coins I tested. I got this to help me understand and adjust the flow rate on my 3d printer, so I needed to measure quantities less than 1g. Again, I couldn't check it for accuracy, but the measurements seemed reliable and repeatable. The scale is easy to use. Great gadget for the price. No negatives. ... show more

  • A trick to recallobrate without weights
Color: Black
My scale was massively off, but I was able to recalibrate it with coins. The trick is to use 8 quarters and 2 dimes. A quarter is 5.67 grams and a dime is 2.27 grams. Combined it will be 49.896 grams. I got my scale to pass and weigh a quarter and it came out to 5.66 or 5.69 grams. That's better than anything. Hope this helps. :) Extra tip: If you add a tiny piece of napkin on top of the coins you can get it really close to 50 grams. Or just buy a 50 g calibration weight if you want true accuracy. Hope this helps. ... show more
