  • Great Outdoor Security Camera.
Size: 5MP PTZ Cam
Given the satisfactory experience with my first ZOSI C-296 Outdoor Security Camera, I hope to have a second PTZ Camera installed by mid year (already done), and quite possibly a third by year end. I am quite pleased with my current Camera given the splendor of its amazing video and audio quality (both day and night), and have already made recommendations to my curious/nosy neighbors regarding this amazing product with its piercing bright LED lights. I recommend a direct ethernet connection to mitigate disruptions caused by erratic wireless broadband connection. The AVSS App (Mobile), is very user friendly (even for me), with little or no glitches in its overall online performance. Viewing with picture perfect clarity the surroundings of my Home from wherever I am at, demonstrates the advanced technology employed by ZOSI in the production of their products. Just ensure you use an up to date PC. Today, thanks to this amazing device, I do feel that more confident in the safety of my home and family, whenever I am away from home or abroad. Amy at Customer Service is truly an asset to the ZOSI Team. Very patient, knowledgeable and pleasantly interactive with Customers regarding their ZOSI products. As a loyal ZOSI Customer, I honestly have no problem in recommending their (tested & proven), products to the discerning customer. Barry S. Bissessar Trinidad. W.I. ... show more

  • Excellent Customer Support is the first thing, very good camera system is the second.
Size: WiFi-4Cam
I bought the 4 camera version about 5 months ago. I wish now, I had went with the 8 camera version. And as you will read, their customer support is top notch which is one of the reasons I am now reviewing the unit... one of the camera I thought had failed but as their support was able to help with, in fact it did not and they easily helped get it back working again. I explain more a bit down this review. *NOTE for those wondering if you can hook the NVR wireless to your router, the answer is a yes and no. I had to place the NVR on the other end of the house from the router but did not want to run wiring... so I found a way to do it using wireless extenders which I will explain at the bottom of this review. Regardless, the quality of the camera's is outstanding especially at night. I have attached a video link of the camera catching a bear at dusk coming toward the house as the cameras switched into night vision mode. The reason I am writing the review now after 5 months however, is due to the customer support I got. One of the camera's suddenly failed... or so I thought. In reality, it turned out that I had to simply reset the addressing hardware ID code for that camera. It failed during a storm and my thought is a lightning strike may have just scrambled the brains a bit. BUT it was not until I contacted the company about a replacement camera that I learned the camera was probably fine.. They instructed me how to reset it and sure enough, it is back working perfectly. They were fast, courteous and knowledgeable. So I will definitely recommend this company and brand for those looking for a system. Finally, hooking this to your router. Sadly, the NVR does not allow you to directly do a wifi connection to your router. While the cameras all connect wireless to the NVR, the NVR itself has to be wired somehow to the router. In my case however, that would have meant running line the entire length of my house. Not something I wanted to do. So I thought about it a bit and then came up with a simple solution.. I bought one of those 'wireless extenders' you can simply plug into an outlet to extend wireless around your home. What many don't realize, is those extenders have BUILT IN network plugs! So while they are used to actually extend your wireless range, they can ALSO be used to plug in a WIRED DEVICE to give IT access to your router! So all I did was buy one of those, setup the extender to extend my wifi in my home, run a network cable from the NVR to the plug in the wifi extender and walla, my NVR is now connected to the router wirelessly because it is directly plugged into the extender via network cable. And it works perfectly.. In fact, I wanted to place one of my camera quite a distance from the house... but wireless range, especially for a video signal, is not very far. So what did I do? I bought a SECOND wireless extender, plugged that one into my workshop and then plugged camera 4 into the wireless extender via network cable and it now can be monitored through that connected wireless extender as well! Wireless extenders have a lot more power and range than the camera on its own. Probably double from my testing so this solution allowed me to place a camera where normally I would not be able to reach wirelessly on its own. As I started this review with, my only regret with this purchase... I should have bought the 8 camera version.. I really need it now as we moved into a larger home and a lot of land.. Wish the company would trade me up to the 8 camera from this 4 camera! ;-) ... show more

  • Hardware is good, software is not
Size: WiFi-4Cam
I bought the 4PCS 720p wireless system with 1 TB HD included version. So far it has been ~5 days since I initially installed it and has been good so far and it's my first camera system. The system comes already setup for use, the cameras linked to the NVR and you just need to power the cameras and NVR. Connect a display and that's it. Very easy initial setup. However, configuring the NVR is very confusing due to the existing software it comes with. Unless you have a little bit of computer/network knowledge you might have a hard time configuring it as the interface is very confusing. You will need to mess up with the configuration if you want to: Change the recording scheduling to custom times, change the recording system from 24/7 to only motion based recording, change the motion area of detection and sensibility, enable email alerts when motion detection happens or in case of system errors or change the bitrate. I spent some time figuring out the user interface and what each feature did. One thing to point out is that the software program used seems very old and generic. So many functions that the programs show are not used with the cameras that come packages with the system. The software itself won't let you interact with those options or they will just do nothing. To play recordings, the interface is still confusing but not that much. Once you get a hang of how it works then it is fairly easy to use but at first it might look intimidating. I love that no internet is needed unless you want to remote view the cameras or to use email. The place where the cameras were installed have a slow upload speed of ~1Mb at most hence I went for a system that requires no internet and can do 24/7 recording with no fees. Enabling e-mail alerts was relatively confusing, non-tech users will definitely have problems enabling it and most likely won't be able to do it without extra help. You can google for "zosi e-mail setup" for instructions, but if you are using TLS select the correct port instead of using the default. For gmail this is 587. Remember to create a new email as the notification sender and do not use your personal one (for security). You can then specify your personal emails as the receiver of emails. Pros: - Good customer service, they reply very fast to any questions via email. - Easy initial setup, if you don't want to configure it then anyone can use it. However I do recommend to try to customize it to get the most out of it. - Can work both wireless or via Ethernet (wireless as in only power cables are needed but no internet ones) - Works really well for places where internet is slow - Can record 24/7 if desired. - No fees Cons: - If you select "continuous" alarm when motion is detected. You need to reboot the system to turn it off.... I ended up putting alarm for 10 seconds only and just use the app notification/email notification instead. - Software of the NVR is poor. Will be a problem if you are "non-tech savvy", even for tech savvy users it might be hard to understand without some patience. - If you want to change default software language from English to something else, the translations are probably done with Google translate word to word so some labels do not make sense. While most of them can be figured out I had to switch back to English on some of them to understand what the labels were. - The customer service English does not seem that well, so you need patience and careful wording so it is clear to them what the problem is or what you are asking for. - Resolution is ok. If you plan to put the camera very far away from what you want to want you will have problems seeing faces/license plates (although these cameras are interior only so you shouldn't be using them to look outside anyway). However for rooms they work well and you can distinguish faces. Warnings/Suggestions: - If you update the firmware from the NVR (suggested), the manual that comes with the system has instructions for the old firmware so the screenshots will look different. Be ware of this. The general instructions and how to get to the functions is the same, but the interface is not. If you don't like spending some time to get used to the rather ugly interface, perhaps its best no to update the firmware so you can look at the screenshots they provide on the manual. - Remember this is an NVR system, so all recordings are on the box that comes in the package. If that gets stolen then you lose all your recordings so make sure to put it in a safe place. - Enable e-mail alerts, they provide a initial screenshot for any motion based detection the camera does that could be useful should the NVR box be stolen. - Remember to change the default password of the system and to enable auto logout and auto screen off if you leave a screen plugged in the system. - Remember to also enable overwriting old records when disc gets full. You can configure what is considered old, the default is 30 days but needs to be enabled. ... show more
