This terrarium is very spacious and it's very well made! Set up took around 20 minutes and was relatively easy, it may seem like the screws aren't going through/stripping but it just takes some force to screw in. I love how the mesh is metal instead of fabric of plastic, it's really sturdy but light! If anyone is curious the bottom part is 15 1/2 L x 5 1/2 W. I love this product and will definitely buy again/the larger terrarium! ... show more

This is the second open air screen cage I have bought. I already have the 24x24x48 by the same maker. Despite it seeming a bit flimsy, it works great. The downfall is there is no where to hook anything. You have to attach stuff right to the screen. I use the tiny zip ties which just fit if you make the screen hole a little larger. Be careful though as the screening breaks easily if you push too hard. I have placed sticks etc right up agains the screen and so far none have broken through so it's sturdy enough if you are careful. You can sit the lighting fixures right on top and it holds up well. I have a gallon milk jug that I cleaned out well and filled half way with water that I use for a dripper. This sits on the top of the cage and I have had no problems with it or the stick that is next to it that actually touches the top of the screened cage. It has not poked through at all. So, you can figure out how to hang stuff if you are creative. Oh, bread ties that are coated in plastic work great too for attaching stuff. The doors have very tiny cracks around them and none of my live feeders have escaped. I have read issues with this from other posts and I would reocommend returning it if the space around the doors is big enough for feeders to escape. I would recommend this item. The box came opened. No tape or anything, just an opened box. I was afraid it was damaged but it was fine. People say it's flimsy but I disagree. While putting this together I made sure not to tighten any of the screws until the whole thing was assembled. Then I went around and tightened all the screws and everything fit into place perfectly. The only thing I'd change is I'd make the top screen thicker so lighting domes can be placed on it. That and I'd make the back panel glass because almost everything I have for my habitat uses suction cups and you can't use those with this. I'm actually wondering how to hang anything in there at all🤔 For now I used some thread to hold the hanging stuff in place but it shouldn't be permanent. But overall it's great and it's way bigger than I thought. My frogs love it so far. It's light and way easier to clean than a glass tank. ... show more

When I received the cage it was shipped just in it's box and nothing else so the box was really beat up and was tore open at the bottom so I was worried some pieces might be missing. When it arrived I happened to be out of town so my husband set it aside for me. When I returned I was unable to get to it right away so once I did and had a chance to look in the box everything was there and believe it or not nothing had been damaged during shipping. However during manufacturing the back panel screen either had not been caught correctly or when they cut the excess screen off after pressing it in border around the screen they accidentally cut the screen. I did contact the seller but in hind-site I realized it was past the 30 days and I should be contacting the manufacturer. The seller was kind enough to respond quickly and let me know that I needed to contact the manufacturer which by then I realized I did. I reached out to Zoo Med and they responded with in hours and said they were sorry for the problems I had and if I would send them my address they would happily ship me out a replacement panel and they shipped a new on right out. The screen in these is very fragile so you need to be careful but for the price they are great. They are very easy to put together and the company is awesome to work with. I would highly recommend this cage. I looked long and hard and did a lot of price comparing before settling on this and this was by far the most reasonable for the money. ... show more

Very well-made and assembled easily on my kitchen counter in about 15 minutes. PERFECT Monarch caterpillar hatchery! I saw a lot of reviews noting damage, and I would suggest the box they use should be a bit heavier since it also ships in that retail box; my box came tore open but luckily no damage.

I ordered this cage for my female jackson chameleon. It came in a very timely manner. Packaged wonderful. My 11yr old son and I put it together in about 20 minutes, very simple and great instructions. I like the bottom opening seperated from the top. Easy to clean. Looks very nice. A little flimsy feeling when having to move it around but other than that it has met my expectations. I didn't have a humidity system so I bought a warm mist humidifier for the house I put it in her cage and she has room to move around on the floor of it if she would like. The humidifier on high will get the humidity up to 90%. My Chameleon acts very happy in it. I would recommend the zoo med cage to anyone interested in a reptile cage. ... show more

    • Decent, but has logistical problems

My female veiled chameleon loves this terrarium, as it gives her tons of room to move around, and has plenty of space for three or four one-gallon-potted plants. She currently has a lemon tree, hibiscus and bougainvillea in her terrarium, and I've set up grow and basking lights above. It does feel moderately fragile, but is of sound construction. Assembly was easy, and if you have trouble, it's because of limited visual/spacial skills. My primary complaint is that the base is just a plastic square that sits in the bottom. It is sort of flimsy, and cannot support the weight of several potted plants, and certainly not a nesting box full of sand like one needs to provide a female chameleon. I will probably build a box to fit inside the bottom securely, that I can waterproof, and then sink the potted plants into with a substrate of sand and moss to retain humidity and give my girl a place to lay eggs. It will also prevent the problem I currently have of being unable to use a water drip system for her - this is how many arboreal lizards find water, and it doesn't work to have an open, unsealed bottom in a terrarium with a drip system if one doesn't want dirty lizard terrarium water leaking out of the terrarium at a regular rate. ... show more

Upon arrival, I immediately assembled the product. My only gripe when assembling this cage, is that there was a few mislabeled pieces. Easy mystery to solve for the average-assembly-minded person. The cage itself is made up of typical screen material. If I had spent the $80 that Petco asks for, I would be ticked. I am pleased with the product considering what I paid. This would not be a recommended product for anyone having cats! The screen could easily be torn through I am sure. If you used anything electrical inside the unit, you do not have access holes of any kind. That said, for the price I do kind of wish I had purchased the Zilla Fresh Air Screen Habitat for Reptiles instead. The description for this cage is fairly uninformative. It does have a top to it (was unsure about that at the time of purchase), which is a fixed piece of screen. The 4 sides of screen are attached with an aluminum (or the like) frame screwed together. The bottom does not have a screen, but a white plastic type of material (would have preferred black, brown or dark tan instead of stark white). One drawback I am experiencing with the screen is if you would like to use any sort of vine (be it Exo Terra Jungle Vine, or natural vine etc.), you have to concern yourself with overextending the sides potentially or figuring out a way to affix them to the sides securely.
