  • Great Taste, Fast Cleanup, So Simple to Use
Size: 3-Cup Style: Modern
After considerable pressure from my daughter, whose Asian friend says their family's rice cooker is in use pretty much 24/7, we decided to buy one for our family. After researching quite a few models, I went with the Zojirushi because of its simple design and good reputation. It was a fine decision. We use this thing all the time. My kids love being able to cook rice for themselves. Pros * Controls - strike that, control singular - so simple that even your grandma who could never quite bring herself to use a cordless phone can't mess it up * Very easy to clean * Rice tastes much better than what you get with the stovetop * Works well whether you're cooking a lot at once or just one side serving Cons * Does not require you to hook it up to WiFi, install an app on your phone, and confirm your identity just to make it stop impersonating a WiFi access point [OK, this is only a con according to engineers who work for LG] Other Thoughts *Saying it cooks 3 cups is a poor translation - it cooks up to 3 gou of rice, with a gou being a standard measure in Japan of enough dry rice for an entree-size serving. A gou is 180 cubic centimeters, or roughly 3/4 of an American "cup" measurement. Americans tend to serve rice as a side dish, and I find half a gou per person works well. As far as I can tell all rice cookers, even American and European brands, measure their capacity in gou but confusingly call it cup in English. The bottom line is that if you want to use American measuring cups with a rice maker, then figure a 3-cup cooker can only take 2 cups. *Don't worry if Uncle Ben isn't familiar with measurements in gou. To cook rice, all you need is the ratio of water to rice, which is usually 3:2 but can be different for certain rice varieties. In other words, if Uncle Ben says put in 2 cups of rice and 3 cups of water, but you just want to cook a 1/2 gou, you put in your 1/2 gou of rice and add 3/4 gou of water. *The cooking bowl lifts out for easy cleaning. I clean it along with the lid and accessories with a bit of soap and a sponge [sponges without an abrasive side are available on Amazon or at many Asian grocery stores]. A few quick swipes, rinse twice, and it's done. ... show more

  • Quality unit for little money
Size: 10-Cup Style: Rice Cooker and Steamer 10 Cup
Could we have gotten a more expensive version? Of course. But this does exactly what we bought a rice cooker for…and does it very well. No messing with endless controls, or settings. Just rinse your rice well…until the water is clear. No muss, no fuss. Perfectly cooked…fluff…and serve!

  • Works surprisingly well!
Size: 3-Cup Style: Modern
I've resisted getting a rice cooker for many years. After all, most cooks have a pot with a lid, right? Rice fixed that way has almost always turned out great and who wants another cooking gizmo to take up counter or storage space? Well, this Zojirushi NHS-06 3-Cup Rice Cooker is small enough to tuck in a cupboard and yet turns out a surprising amount of cooked rice. It's not speedy -- I can cook rice on the stovetop in 16 minutes; this rice cooker takes about 40 minutes. But it produces a great result (fluffy rice) and clean up is a snap. With a little advance planning, you can have rice for dinner without much trouble and you don't have to keep an eye on it to get perfectly cooked rice. NOTE: as others have mentioned, when this rice cooker refers to "cups," they mean their little measuring cup (about 3/4 cup), not a standard one cup measure. Recommended. Hope this helps! ... show more

  • Something broke inside the main compartment
Size: 10-Cup Style: Rice Cooker and Steamer 10 Cup
I received this a couple days ago and went to pick it up and there is something rolling around in the main compartment. I will try to see if it works, but if not will be looking for an exchange. Once I cook with it, I will update this post. The three star rating is simply for the condition of the rice maker and the broken piece rolling around and does not reflect its use. Update: I tried to use the rice maker for the first time to make a batch of Puerto Rican rice and it came out perfect. I don't know what is rolling around in the main unit, but it makes a heck of a batch of rice. Great consistency, only browns at the bottom if you leave it on warm longer than necessary (which is a great thing for Latinos to get the 'pegao'). Only hope is that it keeps working. ... show more

  • Zojirushi NHS-06 3-Cup Rice Cooker: Small but Mighty!
Size: 3-Cup Style: Modern
I just got the Zojirushi NHS-06 3-cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker in white, and I absolutely love it! This little rice cooker is incredibly easy to use. Just flip the single switch, and you’re on your way to perfectly cooked rice. The see-through glass lid is fantastic because you can keep an eye on the rice without lifting the lid, and the knob stays cool, so no burnt fingers here. The handles also stay cool, making it super easy to move around even when it's hot. The nonstick inner cooking pan is a total game changer. No more rice sticking to the bottom, and cleaning up is so easy. Plus, it comes with a handy measuring cup. One 6-ounce cup of uncooked rice makes about 2 to 3 cups of cooked rice, which is perfect for small meals. Overall, the Zojirushi NHS-06 is an awesome little rice cooker. It's perfect for small kitchens and cooks rice perfectly every time. If you’re looking for a reliable and easy-to-use rice cooker, this one is definitely worth it! If you're having issues with starch-laden water spitting out of the tiny vent hole in the lid or water spraying out of the vent spout, it usually means you put in too much water or didn’t wash your rice thoroughly enough. I just cooked 3 cups (uncooked) of rice, and it came out perfect—no oversprays or water coming through the vent. Check out my pictures for reference. ... show more

  • Cute, easy to use and great rice!
Size: 3-Cup Style: Modern
We purchased this to replace another rice maker and what a cute little device. It's perfect for the 2 cups of rice we typically make, cooks it perfectly, and is simple with just an on and off switch. I always wanted a Zojirushi but had no need for the large models.
