  • I really impressed for the price per value ratio and recommend these cameras for anybody who wants a cheap and simple solution.
Size: 2 Count (Pack of 2)
I bought Zmodo 720p HD Outdoor Home Wireless Security 2 Cameras about three weeks ago. First few days I've spent to login these cameras to my home network. That was not straightforward. First I've tried to link them through zlink as was recommended in some reviews. Cameras were working for some time than went offline. Have no idea why. I have tried Livechats. They were quite responsive and suggested several ways. But the cameras still worked unstable. I was rather disappointed for I like these cameras. They give quite good picture at day light and very satisfactory picture at night. Actually I was quite impressed for the quite good night picture from such a cheap devise. So, I did not want to return them back and continued my efforts. Finally, I have linked them as wireless devices. They both logged in as a group. I gave them different names and over more than a week test at different linked devices. The primary device is my cellphone. They work well on my computers - home and at work. So I can see a clear picture from both of them at any time. I have sheared them with my wife and daughter - they also do not complain. Moreover, wife follows all motion detections and informs me when I did not have time to notice this myself. Overall conclusion: 1. It looks like they are sensitive to the local network features. One should try different ways to connect them. 2. If the power was interrupted, they came back online on their own. 3. The picture is quite good both at daylight and at night. 4. I have found that the time I've spent to set up them worse to have the result: for $90 I have my backyard viewed at any time. I am going to buy two more to cover the whole area I want to be controlled. It really gives you peace in mind when you are out - you see what is going on at your backyard. 5. The only one "complain" - when motion is detected the recorded time is too short, only five frames. Then motion is not detected over some time after (so far I did not found how long). ZMODO, in principle, suggests a solution for this through they clouds. I'm thinking to try this - one week is free. I really impressed for the price per value ratio and recommend these cameras for anybody who wants a cheap and simple solution. My friend subscribes with a surveillance contract and pay $40 per month. My two cameras cost me $90 and I have practically the same result without monthly payment. As I understand I can use up to 8 cameras in such a simple way. ... show more

  • One Word.....AWESOME!!! One Word.....AWESOME!!!
Size: 2 Count (Pack of 2)
For what these do I have to say these Zmodo cameras are awesome in my book. They don't have audio which is a bummer but then again...my primary purpose was mainly being able to monitor our property. To that end...these cameras are a solid product with very good imagery...whether you're looking at the imagery while in Infrared mode or during the day. Day time imagery is better of course but the Infrared is darn good and you can still see well enough if someone or something is around you're property. The wireless works very well...although I might suggest adding a WiFi extender to your home network if you need to install one of these in a location which is at the outer limits of your wireless network. That's what I did...and between the main router in our office space and the extender I was able to install several of these around our home and they all work seamlessly. We also purchased an indoor monitor camera (seen in first picture attached) and a NVR (Network Video Recorder - not pictured) which allows all the Zmodo cameras to wirelessly connect to the NVR. The NVR is connected to a TV which also serves as my computer monitor and is hooked up directly to the router. This allows all cameras to auto-record onto the NVR's internal hard drive should we need to review footage...and I can easily go from the input on the TV in which the NVR is using and the input my computer uses. Not only that but you can view your camera feeds through the Zmodo website directly via your Zmodo account or the Zmodo app which works really well. There's few things I wish Zmodo would do such as allowing audio from their two-way cameras to be recorded along with the video onto the NVR but currently only video is recorded. So...all that said...I still give these cameras 5 stars because all of mine work well and have exceeded my expectations. Zmodo has many options available and is constantly growing and adding new features. And...best of all...these are priced very well compared to others I've seen. You get a lot for a little dough. If you're in the market for some security cameras but want something easy to install and use...I highly recommend giving these a try. With these around our home I feel so much better knowing at a flip of my finger I can check a camera...whether I'm in my home...at night...or away from the house. I can keep an eye on things. I rather be prepared in the event something happens...but at the same time having these around our home can also help deter those who might have mischievous intentions. Try these out...you wont regret it!!! ... show more

  • Effective and Great Value but Improvements Still Needed
Size: 2 Count (Pack of 2)
Overall I am pleased with this product. I bought two to try them out and bought two more. A lot of the reviews you will see on here are prior to many improvements that have been made and the introduction of the cloud access which combined, all make a huge difference. I have a total of four of these at various places around the exterior of my house. . The video quality is good enough to where if someone was at one of the entrances I could enlarge the picture and get a positive identification on the face. On the other hand, the camera I have pointed out towards the front, approximately 50 yards away to the end of the driveway, isn't clear enough to make out a license plate number. The night vision is very good and works best if you have some small amount of light in the area it can draw from. With the cloud 7 day option, I can rest assured that all of the recordings on all four cameras are kept for 7 days if I need to go back and review something that happened in the past. They also have a 30 day plan. The monthly cost for this service is very reasonable - for my four cameras less than $15 a month on the 7 day plan. The motion detection, which alerts you when there is activity from one of the camera feeds is accurate without many false alarms. Zmodo has developed an algorithm of sorts to minimize false alerts based on type of activity and frequency. So for instance I have a flag hanging in view of one of my cameras. At first, I kept getting alerts every time the wind blew the flag but it automatically adjusted that due to the frequency and type of motion. The only downsides I have is this application is really meant to run from a phone and not from a computer. I can view the cameras and watch video clips from my pc, but many of the settings and features have to be done through your phone. There isn't a lot of online support in terms of Q&A or a library of information so many of my questions remain unanswered. I tried the online chat and there was a language barrier that made the chat useless. I have not tried the email or telephone support yet. There are some obvious needs with the software that one would think would be automatic - like being able to view multiple cameras live feed simultaneously - that haven't been implemented. There is a volume control for each camera but yet, the cameras don't record sound. But for the money and ease of installation, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and effectiveness of the product. ... show more

  • It is a $50 camera after all.
Size: 4 Count (Pack of 4)
For a camera with a cost of $50, they are good. Several issues with my order. First, two of the four did not work, but technical support on the phone was EXCELLENT!! Tech assistance on the phone quickly created an RMA and sent a prepaid return shipping label. Down side is, "RMA" was to troubleshoot the two defective cameras with possible replacement. They could have saved us all time and sent me two new ones with the understanding of additional billing if the problem was on my side. Downside, shipping is via ground both ways with me in Oregon and them in Illinois. So, minimum of 8-10 day turn around without any bench time regarding repair. Poor business model now days. Again, it is a $50 camera and at least they are stepping up to the plate for repair/replacement inside the USA. Don't bother with the online technical assistance, I waited over one hour for a "chat" and never did hear back other that a return email that came three days later in English that was equal to a second grader message. Very poor and very obviously not from the USA. Yes, yes, I understand that the cameras come from China or wherever, so, I highly recommend the telephone tech assistance which is 8-8 M-F CST. The application for smart phone and the web site viewers could really stand a update. REALLY!! Apps that I have used before for IP cameras, IP Viewer by Robert Chow, should be the template for a real viewer via smart phone. Again, these are $50 IP cameras and expectations may need tempering. Yes, the cameras can be viewed in 720p and the quality is good. The cameras can be programmed to send email messages indicating motion in their view area and the email contains several screen shot images of about 2-3 seconds of elapsed time. Although, the field of view can not be set up for areas to be ignored and areas to be watched and viewed area has no sensitivity adjustment. So, be prepared for lots of emails of leaves blowing in the wind. After all, the technology of "motion detection" in CCTV is pix change not real presence of a human presence. Again, these are $50 cameras. When the app or web based viewers are used, the cameras do not come up in a view function for a specific camera. You must click on an image that was saved from the first time, or possibly the last time, the camera was powered up and then the real time view is active. The smart phone app comes up in a Low Def version and it must be switched to High Def for a quality view. Not selectable or changable in the VERY limited programming via phone app or online app/viewer. Again, a $50 camera coupled with an app/viewer with an equal value interface. I gave this a "3 star" rating due to the frustration in dealing with a 50% order success. If I were asked, I would give the telephone tech support 6 stars as she REALLY new what she was doing and was not just going through a list of troubleshooting steps for a dummy. If and when I get the other 50% I certainly will repost to this review. We shall see. 1/27/16 - Cameras are back from repair by the distributor and they work perfectly, or at least like they should. No cost for return shipping or repair. I highly recommend the product and the supplier. I CHANGE MY RATING TO FIVE STARS. THANK YOU!! ... show more

  • Good cameras. Great value.... BUT....
Size: 2 Count (Pack of 2)
This is an update (11/4/2018) to my original review, now that I've been using these cameras for several months (almost a year now). I originally purchased these cameras in January of 2018. My first impressions were that these were really good cameras for a decent price. Much smaller than they appear in the picture, which was actually a pleasant surprise. They exist in a durable metal housing and have a quality feel to them. When operating, a soft green back-light is noticeable through the lens and red when infrared is active. The color is not overly bright and does not draw attention to itself at all, but just enough light (if you're looking for it) to indicate this is a live, operational camera. Cameras seemed to work great, though I had a few challenges setting them up, getting them to pair with my network. Sadly, they don't work with Samsung SmartThings at this time, nor could I get them to work with other camera applications such as TinyCam Pro, Blue Iris or IFTTT. Alexa will recognize them once you install the Zmodo skill, but they can only be viewed through FireTV and NOT through the Echo Show or Spot, sadly. There is also no 2-way audio. I knew that going in, but now that I have other cameras with audio, I realize how much I miss it. Still, that's not a negative, just something to point out and highlight. Color video in daylight (720p) and infrared black and white in dark settings. You can toggle the night mode on and off or set it to auto in the app. The app also allows you to select a specific area of the screen to trigger recording. Overall, the video quality and features of these cameras are pretty good and night vision is very clear and generally impressive. The bad is that the connection status is very inconsistent. If you intend to place the cameras a significant distance from your router (i.e. more than 50 feet) you will absolutely need a WiFi repeater (which I do have)... Even with the repeater (strong WiFi network access, and 5 full bars of high-speed Internet accessible throughout my entire property) the connection status is disappointing. I have a high-end AC router with plenty of power and an AC repeater to boost the signal out in the backyard and garage, yet I would say I'm getting 35%-40% consistent connection status and that is being optimistic. At the time of writing this update, I just tried again to access both of my installed cameras, and they offline... part usual. What I will have to do to remedy the situation is to go out and unplug power to the cameras, then re-plug them in and wait for them to boot up before they will (hopefully) come back online (for who knows how long). I am extremely disappointed with this aspect of the cameras... After all, if you can't get access to the picture, what is the point of the camera? Also disappointing is the fact that there is no onboard SD card and no option for customizing cloud recording options. You are stuck with Zmodo's proprietary offering at a cost. If the cameras provided a reliable connection, I would consider the cloud option even in light of the lack of other features I would prefer... but since I cannot trust that these will even provide me access when I need it, it would be an utterly wasted expense. For all the positive elements of this camera, and after testing it thoroughly for the last eight months, I am giving it a thumbs-down and reducing my original 4 stars to 1. Sorry Zmodo, you lost me on this one. Sadly a disappointing camera offering. I doubt I will be interested in opting to try another Zmodo product after this. There are far better options out there for the money! True story! My recommendation, get yourself some Wyze Cams and buy the additional weatherproofing housing (even though they aren't rated for outdoor use). Even if you have to throw one away and replace it after a year or two, they are still better and cheaper than a camera that doesn't work at all most of the time! I've been using my Wyze Cams outside in the sun and heat and rain and cold and weather now for a few months and they continue to amaze me! They work beautifully! The Wyze cams cost less, have better image quality, more features and are far more reliable! I think that any time you're using a budget WiFi cam, you're likely to experience disconnections due to either limitations with the camera itself or network quality issues now and then; however, I experience far less issues in this department with the Wyze Cams (to my pleasant surprise) than with any other WiFi or IP camera I have tried thus far (and I've tried a few)... I now have Wyze Cams throughout my property (outdoors and indoors) and they are fantastic. They work with Alexa, IFTTT, and TinyCam Pro (of the products I've tried them with so far) and the Wyze app itself works beautifully and reliably. Wyze Cams also give you continual 14-day cloud service on Amazon's AWS servers (12 second action clips for two weeks) and you can install an SD card for cloud-free recording that is easily accessible through the app. I also use the TinyCam Pro app and record video to the cloud service of my choice, or hard drive, or FTP server and it works awesome! The Wyze Cams also offer less lag than even more expensive cams like my $230 Nest Cam! That was a surprise! If you're asking my advice, save yourself some money and hassle and get a Wyze Cam! Keep in mind, they are a budget camera too so don't expect them to be completely on par with the big boys (all budget cameras have some quirks), but they are amazing offerings for the money! No exaggerations there! I hope this review was helpful to some. ... show more

  • Don't let the negative reviews fool you...
Size: 4 Count (Pack of 4)
Purchased this set through amazon recently. To be honest I was skeptical at first due to some reviews. After using them myself for a couple weeks I could not be happier. These cameras were extremely easy to set up. Turned them all on near the router and downloaded the app. Within 10 minutes they were all connected to my wifi. --Install-- The longest part was figuring out where to install. Installing them is easy, just make sure you got decent wifi signal and plug it in. Yes, like other reviewers stated the power cord is not very long. Maybe ~10ft or so. This makes it so you will probably need to use some sort of extension cords. But nonetheless as long as you expect it, it should not be a surprise. **Update 12-18** As mentioned the cord is short so you need to plug it in close to power source. I found I very simple fix for this. if you search Micro usb Male to Female Extender Cord. Any cord with that setup will extend the length of your cord, I bought a 16.5ft one for around $10. easy peasy. --APP-- Alot of reviewers complained about the application for zmodo. I found the app to be very easy to use with a lot of different settings and options for the camera. Maybe the app was recently updated, I am not sure. But my experiecnce with the app so far is great. I occasionally notice minor bugs in which i notfify support right there on the app. It is nice someone is always there to answer questions. --Motion-- Again, I was worried about buying these because people complained about motion detection, which is most important feature. If you follow the instructions for install there will be no issues with motion. I have tested my setup multiple times and the motion is always working. Hell, it even sometimes goes of if tree branches blowing around in the wind. One of the top reviewers stated "i feel less safe". I have no idea how that is even possible. The motion works if set up properly. Even if some chance it misses a motion the fact you have cameras is a huge crime deterrent. Plus if you are worried about motion alerts you can always buy the cloud which has now been released for 24/7 recording. I feel the cloud is over priced for my budget at around $7 a month per camera I believe, but hopefully that cost will go down. I initially did have an issue where I was not getting motion alerts but I found it was user error. In the app you can click to say if you are home, away, sleeping, etc. Each of those options has specific alert settings. My "home" setting was default to not give motion alerts. This is easy to change but if you are not aware it may confuse you. Overall I am very pleased with this system. You can definitely not find a better system for the price. With the new cloud feature, you can't go wrong. I have no issues with motion where my cameras are installed and the setup and install was a breeze. I did not post pictures/video for privacy concerns. Any questions feel free to ask! **UPDATE**7-8-18 I have had these cameras for almost a year now. They are still going great and everything stated above is accurate. In the past year, I have caught on video a hit and run accident which occurred outside my house on the street. I was also able to assist police in getting video footage of a possible suspect in a burglary which occurred at my neighbor's house. The motion alerts are still going as expected and I am pleased with them. I do wish the motion alerts recorded longer than the 8sec or so. The app is still working perfectly for me with no issues and seems to be getting updates very regularly. ***Update 11-23-18*** I recently had a bike stolen out of my garage. My camera I have set up back there caught them on video running from my garage with the bike. I also found them up front scoping out my house (they apparenty did not do very good if they did not see the cameras). The bike was only around $100 value to me but I posted the video on facebook and someone was able to identify the suspects from watching the zmodo video. It was super easy to download video to my phone and post on facebook. I was in contact with police and am happy to say the suspects are caught and my bike was returned all in less than a week thanks mainly to zmodo. Now that being said I did miss some important motion alerts fro the incident but got what I neded. I am highly considering getting the 24/7 cloud recording. I have not had a major issue with motion alerst but I know it does not get everything. I am hoping to purchase a 5th camera for the holidays to get even more protection. ... show more

  • Functional and cheap, but limited
Size: 2 Count (Pack of 2)
Wanted some cheap security camera for my porch without the hassle of cords and minimal setup. However there are some issues. They do their job at least. I didn't fully read the specs when I bought these so some of my negative opinions are my own doing for not doing proper research. (Legend) [ + = Positive ] [ - = Negative ] [ ~ = Neither positive or negative, situational ] [ +/- = Positive with minor negative ] + Has good night vision. + Decent image quality. + Durable, stays clear even in bad conditions as far as the lens goes. + Easy to physically install. ~ Motion Detection is an enigma, as it seems to be way too sensitive. ~ Yet again with the Micro USB connectors for power. - Zmodo App is just bad and buggy with limited functionality, a lot of features hidden behind subscription. It's also the only way to interact with the camera. And the Windows Zviewer program never works. - No batteries/hardwired in, which is fine. However they give you quit possibly the most insultingly short power cord. Forcing you to either use extension cords or install a new outlet. - No local storage, everything is on the cloud, so just keep that in mind as far as security. - There is NO option to make it wired instead of wireless without expensive modifications. - Randomly need to reboot the camera because it gets laggy or frozen. - Wireless range is less than desirable. - Pairing the camera to your phone should be easy, its just a bar code scan. Yet it can be a real pain sometimes. It is probably better on bigger tablets. - 2.4ghz only wifi band is just dumb/annoying. In this day in age almost everything supports dual. [Edit: 4/8/23] Additional Edit: One way to get live feed to your computer is if you have a phone that is capable of using Link to Windows feature. On a windows machine it lets you control your phone from your computer. You can then open the zmodo app go to your camera and hit live button. Works fine for me, of course it will heat the phone up a bit. But it's way better than working with zViewer. Just a suggestion. For me I have a samsung galaxy s21 ultra and a windows 10 computer. Another Edit 4/8/23: Be warned, if you change or upgrade your modem/router these cameras will refuse to work/connect. Even if you setup the wifi exactly the same it just wont work. Wasn't going to get a ladder and try to scan barcode again no way. Now I am lucky, my second camera actually was never installed yet on my house but was setup. After hours of trying to figure out a way to do it without removing the devices. I came with this solution. -> If you have one that is not installed or easier to get to or anything. Remove that camera from the zmodo app. Now do the setup again with the barcode (for me it was easier because it wasn't on my house) Once it gets paired and you set the wifi settings. Boom both cameras work now. Didn't have to touch the other camera. Don't understand it but I ain't (really) complaining much. Another thing to keep in mind, I upgraded my modem through Cox (Gigablast) their new modem is defaulted to have this automatic wifi band (Only shows one wifi network) You will have to split the wifi so you get 2.4ghz and 5 ghz. So make sure that your phone is connected to the 2.4ghz when you setup the camera. ... show more

  • Great Home Surveillance Camera Great Home Surveillance Camera
Size: 4 Count (Pack of 4)
I have been a Zmodo owner since 2013. I started with the NVR 4 Channel system with 1TB of storage that also allowed me to remotely view my cameras. The setup back then was a nightmare. It took about one week with numerous calls to customer support but eventually they helped me set it up. That system did have its flaws but was a great system that was very useful for the past 4 years. Fast forward to 2017. It was time to upgrade my system and I decided to go back to the Zmodo camera because i had such a pleasant experience. I was hesitant at first to not have a physical harddrive to record the footage but after reading other people's reviews, I decided I'd take a shot at this system and try the new cloud. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the camera. It was compact and easy to install as i simply swapped out my old cameras. I didn't like the brackets that came with the camera so I replaced it with my old set but the brackets that came with this system is just fine. Video setup for the camera was very easy. The Zmodo app allows for a fast and immediate setup. No more paying for a dns service or port forwarding on router as it's done automatically. It's a simple plug and play camera. TIP: When setting up for first time, disconnect your home Wi-Fi connection. This helped me to connect faster with the cameras during setup. One thing that I did not realize until I bought the system was that it does NOT store your video consistantly for 36 hrs but only upto 36hrs of motion detection "events." This is inconvenient when u have a specific time you want to go back to that the motion detector did not pick up. Of course you can pay for this option but that's just another bill. Overall, it's a great camera. Nightvision is great and you can see pretty far compared to my old system. I leave all my camera settings to HD so all the pictures come out clear and crisp. This is a great camera and I highly recommend it to anyone that wants some extra home security around the house! ... show more
