When I was shopping for one of these mats, it looked like there were a lot of lower quality options available, and many of them were non-standard sizes. I really wanted one of these to complete our outdoor batting cage, but bristled at the $400+ price tags from several baseball equipment websites. I had this in my cart for a few days before deciding to give it a try. I am so happy I bought this! My neighbor has the $400+ one from a baseball supply website, and when I opened this one it was the exact same quality! Since our cage is outside, a rubber backing was a necessity. Several options on Amazon have felt or foam, which would not have held up to the elements. This mat has a thick, sturdy black rubber backing which keeps it flat (even during a hard pivot) and prevents any slipping. The pile is good quality and feels like it will last for years. I am so happy I took a chance on this mat! The only thing I'll mention about the design is that the lines are not painted . . . they're actually white turf, which makes them super bright and white - very nice. However, the home plate is painted on, so it's not as vibrant and white as the lines. I don't see this as a negative, but some buyers may be surprised by that. It's still a great product and I highly recommend it. EDIT TO ADD: We just had our first rain of the season, and the paint on the home plate is really coming off. We're going to spray paint it to brighten it back up, but even though this happened, I'm still very satisfied with the purchase. The media could not be loaded. Home plate is cheaply done in paint. I bought a real home plate and screwed it down over the paint. Besides that, this thing is top shelf. If you need a batting/pitching mat you can’t go wrong with this one. We have put it through a lot and it’s held up great. Thousands of swings on this thing and very little wear. Will be buying another one when this one is worn out. I built a wood platform and glued it down for stable footing. ... show more

    • Good mat for the price
The only issue is it does slide some, but my concrete is very smooth and slick. Other than that, it is very large and seems to be holding upnwell.

    • Great outside where my kids tore up all the grass
About a month in with it being outside and so far it’s great. Kids tore up all the grass where they use as home plate for whiffle ball and hitting limited flight balls, and this went directly in the dirt. Our yard is laid out such that there’s no where else to have home, so I figure we need this where it’s at for 4-5y as I won’t be growing any grass any time soon. The plate is fading but we’ll just put a real one over top if it gets too bad. The white lines for the batters box have helped my 6yos learn where their feet should be.     • Great value and function
We use this mainly to practice pitching and occasionally use it for batting practice in the back yard. It's easy to roll up and store vertically in the garage, especially if you have some bungee cords available. When people see it, they always think it's the "deluxe" model and we paid an extravagant amount for it. After I tell them it's one of the cheapest ones on Amazon they're in shock. We do keep this inside the garage unless in use, and then roll it back up and put it away afterwards. I can't vouch for how sturdy it would be under the natural elements being left outdoors but I have a feeling this will last us a few years as long as we put it away after use each time. Lastly, it will be a little awkward carrying it around if you are a small person. However, I think the average grown man could easily throw this batting mat over his shoulder and carry it if it were kept rolled tight. ... show more

The mat concept is fine but when we laid it out on our field the mat is not uniformed. It was cut improperly and is not square. Severely disappointed.

They slide A LOT when using indoor.... have to spend additional money just so they will stay in place. Other than that they are good mats!
