Let me preface by saying that I am not normally one to write product reviews, positive or negative. But I am so impressed by this bed! My husband and I have been looking for a bed for months, but the idea of furniture shopping with our two young children in a store with pushy salespeople stressed me out so much that we just kept putting it off. I was equally nervous about buying something online, sight unseen. How sturdy could it possibly be? Would it look cheap? Would it arrive undamaged? This bed exceeds all my expectations. It was well packaged and all the pieces were so well organized. I love that all the parts were zipped up in the headboard itself - that’s ingenious. I’m the furniture assembler in our house (I actually really love doing it) and it took me by myself less than an hour (I watched 2 episodes of Superstore while I worked). The bed looks classic and well-made, with sturdy fabric and careful stitching. And it’s solid - no wiggling, no matter what racous bedtime activities you may partake in (of course I’m talking about pillow fights). Lastly - the little blank note cards that came in the box were a sweet and whimsical touch. They’re actually cute and I do plan to use them! Get this bed if you like great value for the price, well-thought out packaging, easy assembly, stress-free shopping, and peace of mind during your pillow fights. I have trouble turning on a light switch. Enclosed was a terrific small ratchet that is so helpful. Bed looks good, and is sturdy. Well-designed. I was surprised how inexpensive it is. Meets my needs perfectly. Bought for rarely used guest bedroom where I had queen-sized mattress on floor - unappealing. Box is heavy so I unpacked parts downstairs and carried them up. Please assemble with a partner as recommended. I was solo 98% of time and that made assembly slow. Dark pictograph instructions were sometimes hard to figure out initially. No written explanation, which would have helped pathetic me. I thought it was missing 4 one-inch bolts. Went to Lowe’s to buy equivalent but not exact. Decided I’d finish it next day. Put on my jeans and found original bolts in my pocket. LOL. This taught me to leave all parts close together and not in my pocket. I am impressed and pleased with Zinus. Michael ... show more

    • I’m Pleased but You Get What You Pay For
I searched many online shopping sites looking for a king bed frame. I was beguiled by the look and reviews and the price of the Shalini bed. After all, all tufted/padded headboards seem to look the same. PROS: My king-size light gray bed is attractive. It came in a relatively small box, cleverly stuffed with everything needed to assemble the bed — all parts, etc., attractively ensconced in the headboard itself—cool Allen wrench included, which is the only tool you’ll need. The finished bed is very sturdy and, at least so far, noise-free. It’s definitely a lookalike to more expensive beds. CONS: The “tufted” headboard design is merely diamond-stitched on a flat piece of fabric with buttons attached in appropriate places. There’s nothing tufted about it. But it is padded! Due to the design, there’s a middle supporting “leg” on either side. Though somewhat indented a bit, these legs have already been responsible for a stubbed toe or two. I’m thinking of wrapping them in bubble wrap. The online assembly video goes too fast to be of much use. At least the printed instructions are there and are certainly more understandable than IKEA wordless instructions. And, fortunately I’ve assembled several pieces of IKEA-esque furniture, so I knew enough to know that no bolts were missing— because you had to know that these bolts were already screwed in place but you had to unscrew them a tad in order to attach the other components to complete assembly. ... show more
