We recently purchased a Dream Cloud Premier Hybrid Mattress two weeks ago to replace the mattress we had had on our king size bed for the last 10 years. This new hybrid mattress we bought from the Dream Cloud web site is great, but at a height of 14 inches, it was 5 inches thicker than what we had. After it arrived we decided to keep and use the current double box spring we had been using, which were 9" thick, and metal bed frame with headboard that we already had. But we found with that 5 inches of increased height with our new hybrid mattredd that the top of the bed was now much higher then we liked. We love our new mattress, but with having our mattress 5 inches higher it was a little more effort to get on the bed and our feet didn't touch the floor when we sat on the edge of the bed. We were new to the hybrid mattress requirement of not needing a regular box spring, so we decided to see if we could go lower. I read all the reviews for platform bed frames designed for a hybrid mattress. Many of these reviews, the ones made out of wood, complained about their platform bed frame not holding up, with their wood slats cracking, breaking, and making noise, legs breaking off, etc. We surely didn't want any of that plus we wanted to keep out headboard at the same time. Those reviews helped us decide on trying this metal box spring by Zinus. We selected the 4" thick choice for our king size bed cause we wanted the bed top lower. Let me tell you, we are 100% satisfied with the way it is constructed, the ease of putting it together, and the way our new 14" hybrid mattress fits on it. Everything fit like a glove. It doesnt make a sound if we get up or toss and turn, and the mattress stays in place. Here are a few pictures we took as we put it together from start to finish. Before we put the new 4" metal box spring together, we removed those two 9" box springs we had to make room for the new metal one. It took us about 30-40 minutes to put the metal pieces together but it all went smooth. Everything fit nice and easy. The small rachet wrench that is included was a big help in tighting everything. And it only 16 screw bolts were required to fasten everything. Once finished, this new box spring fit right inside the original metal bed frame we had. The fabric cover went on next and fit over the top like a fitted bed sheet. Next we placed our new 14" mattress on top of everything and were very excited with our it fit the bed now. We actually had more mattress support when we laid on the bed. My husband and I were also now able to sit completely on each side of the bed with our feet on the floor. Having the top surface of the bed 5 inches lower on a metal frame strong enough also to support everything has made all the difference. We couldn't be more satisfied. If you have a king size hybrid mattress and want it lower to get on easier with plenty of support underneath this is the metal smart box spring to get. UPDATE: 7 days later. Both of use are enjoying our new mattress very much, thanks to the 4" metal box frame. No moverment what so ever, solid as a rock. The lower height we now have has made all the difference. One thing I wanted to add if you order the king size box, is the box is heavy. My husband had to use a 2-wheel dolly to move it from the front door, through the house and into the rear bedroom. But once the box is open, all the pieces are marked and easy to connect. 2nd UPDATE: Box spring frame is still doing good. Has been a month since we received this, and we'll still 100% satisfied with our purchase. The upper mattress does not move at all, and makes no noise getting on, moving about on it, or getting off of it. We like it enough that we're going to purchase a similar box spring like this for a twin bed that we have in another room sometime this year.

This comes in a box weighing about 60 pounds. You can lug the box, or open it and cart the materials. Might take 4 trips. No big deal. Comes with extremely easy instructions, extra screws, and a small ratchet. No other tools needed. It goes together in about a half hour with one person. I got the king size and it fits fine. Very solid, no wonky give and no squeaks. People who write that it is hard to assemble likely struggle with making coffee. Hand screw the bolts everywhere, stand it on its edge, and tighten everything down. This way there is a little “play” which makes inserting bolts easy. Then lay it down and snap in the cross members. No hammer, no mallet. Just push in place and if needed, use your foot. There are no legs, it simply rests atop the existing wooden bed frame, headboard, sideboard. Fits just fine. I left the existing 1x4 slats and put this on top. The end result is a 4 inch deep frame that has cross members 3 inches apart. Plenty sturdy and very supportive. We replaced two 9 inch box springs and were able to lower the bed height with no loss of comfort. I did not bother with the cover because I simply saw no need for it since the sideboards hide the frame.. But if it is exposed, i suppose it does dress it up a tad, so do as you please. I’m very happy with it. BTW, the mattress is a 14 inch Satava pillow top if you were wondering.

I really wish I could give 4.5 stars or some other qualifier. So first, 5 stars for what I perceive to be a high quality, sturdy, simple to put together piece. I have typically built my own platforms for memory foam mattresses in the past but rolled the dice on this. I am impressed and extremely satisfied with what I see thus far. I'm a big ole boy and this is solid as a rock with no squeaks or discernible movement. Wife and I put it together, cover and all in about 15-20 minutes and it sat perfectly in the frame where our very old box springs were. Not sure I could have built anything this quality, easy to move, and for the same money all in one package. Will try to update after I have had it longer. For the half star or so loss. I kept waiting and waiting for the arrival with update (was to be three days) and about a week out started sending emails to the seller. At about day 10 or 12 finally contacted amazon and they graciously refunded the money and ordered another (same seller?). After all that took place finally received an email from the seller starting they figured the shipping label came off and it was lost. Communication could have been a little better. That generally chaps my behind, but the quality of this (still new mind you) really is so good as for me to suggest you purchase this instead of box springs for a memory foam mattress. Should out last my mattress and maybe even me.

New bedroom set needed better support. Lots of options available at big and small local furniture stores. But relocated to an area that didn't have previous stores. Decided to take a chance on it because it was on sale and the vendor offered a return if not happy with it. (don't think they do for Amazon anymore). The shipping box was unwieldy but everything was very well packaged. It didn't take a lot of time to assemble and was quite easy. Just keep in mind you need mattress sized space to move it or better yet assemble it near or within the boundary of the bed frame. Didn't read any reviews prior to purchase. Just looked for what item met the needs of the new bed. Mainly low profile, solidly constructed and with a decent lifespan. Almost three years so far and no complaints.

My daughters share an attic bedroom and there was no way I was getting a standard store-bought box spring up the stairs (they have Full size beds). They both have memory foam hybris mattresses so the slats need to be closer than the standard inner sprind mattress so I was pleased when I found this product. Delivery via FedEx was delayed 2 days past the original guaranteed by date, but we did have a snow storm so I won't hold that against them! The packaging is long, not super heavy and I was easily able to hoist it up on my shoulder and carry it up to the attic by myself. It was well packaged and despite the box being a bit dinged there was no damage done to the foundation. Assembly was super easy. The pieces are clearly and well labeled and the instruction are simple picture instructions that are very easy to follow. Only 16 bolts to tighten and the cross slats easily click into place. Other than scissors to cut the tape on the box, there are no tools required, as it comes with a standard allen wrench and a really neat ratchet type allen wrench too. The cover zips on easily and once assemble, with help from my daughters, the foundation was easily placed onto the frame. It feels very sturdy and we are all pleased. Bonus... if they ever have to be moved, they will come apart just as easy. Only Issue I had: One of the boxes was missing the center support piece that goes down the middle of the foundation from head to foot. Through the Amazon orders screen I clicked on the product support which brought me to the manufacturers website where I could either call or fill in an online form. I filled in the online form, attached my proof of purchase and clicked submit..... I will update this review as to how they handled the issue. UPDATE: Same day I wrote the review and same day I contacted the manufacturer through their website: They promptly emailed me back. Since the seller was Amazon and I am within the Amazon return time window they advised me to contact Amazon directly. They provided the phone number and explained that Amazon would ship a full unit to me, I was to take the parts that I need and return the rest. I called Amazon and after verifying my information she was able to enter the parts exchange. I am receiving the new unit in 4 business days and have 30 days to return the parts that I don't use (or else they would charge me for another one - makes perfect sense). I am also able to call Amazon when I'm ready to return it and they will call into UPS to have them come pick it up. I feel like so far, it has been handled very well and quickly. I was afraid they would have me return the whole thing in exchange for a new one... so I'm very pleased at their solution. I will update again once everything is all set.

It was easy to put this together, with another person helping. It worked perfectly to place under a novaform memory foam mattress , replacing a traditional box spring, to reduce motion transfer or "jiggle" of the mattress when either bed partner moves. Once assembled it feels solid and is great support for the mattress and allows it to "breathe" as recommended by the manufacturer. it cost more than I would have liked, though in the end is a durable and stable mattress support.
