I can’t believe how easy this was to put together. I did it all by myself with no issues (I’m a petite woman so this doesn’t take a lot of strength to build). The package arrived un-damaged and everything inside was in perfect condition except for one metal bar that was bent. I simply took a pair of pliers and bent it back into place and everything was fine from then on. I believe I just got a defective one or else it was a returned item that got sent to me. I’m still giving it 5 stars based on how nice this item is and the ease of putting it together. Unfortunately, when I put it on my daughter’s bed, I realized it was the wrong height box spring. I received the 7.5 inch one and actually needed the 4 inch one. Amazon was super helpful with the return process and I now plan on ordering the 4 inch for both of the twin beds in my daughter’s bedroom. We bought a fancy, hoity toity bed from a snooty retailer. Putting form over function, this bed is either a low rider for our mattress without box springs or a monster truck with the standard 9" box springs . This 4" unit was the perfect height to get us into a comfortable sedan. Now we ride all night in comfort, even if me and the mrs decide to take a drive on a bumpy road. Assembly was easy although you kind of need a lot of space since once it's put together you have to get it into the cover, which zips on. Unlike most box springs this one comes unassembled! Super easy to put together and easy to take apart when moving. Fitting a California King box spring through several parts of my house was not an option, this box spring made it possible! The platform is very sturdy once it's put together.

No question - this is a solid foundation. But putting it together and the quality of the wood slats are issues. I see no way one person can put this together completely. One side of the metal rail was slight twisted, enough that the screw hole was just off and that made it hard to finish putting in the main support. Then the middle bar (and why there is a middle bar for a full size foundation is a mystery to me) cannot be screwed in unless you have someone or something propping up the other end. If they gave you some blocks that were the right height to prop it up, then okay, that part is single person friendly. Next, the weight of this thing when it's done (and again, I ordered a full) is very heavy - which is good, but not good if you have to lift it to put on bed rails. If those rails are metal, okay, little easier. But if they are wood, you run the risk of damaging them. Next problem, after you put on the slats, and trying to do that yourself is not easy as you have to press down on the velcro (52.5" wide for a full) at the sides to get the slats to lay properly. Next problem, when you go to put the cover on, how are you going to hold the frame up to put the cover on? You have to remove a couple of slats, lift the foot side up, slide the partially unzipped cover on, then place the frame down, re-attach the slats, and then lift it up from the center bar at the head end to finish pulling up the cover. Then you have to zip the cover. The ratchet they give you is ok, but it doesn't work that well. They should say what size square bit you need, then you could just pop that bit in a cordless screwdriver and you would be done faster. In the end, it's a solid foundation and I'm glad I ordered it, but for $200 this was expensive and a pain in the neck to put together. ... show more

I have to admit that I was very impressed when I got it put together.. This thing will probably last forever due to its construction and the frame being made of steel. Came with very simple and easy instructions, everything is labeled properly. Works very well with the foam mattress we have because the slats are spaced close together. I am far from Bob the Builder, but I can read a diagram. This was by far one of the easiest thing I’ve assembled. The box was well packaged and the pieces were labeled so that I could easily identify how to properly assemble the box spring. I was able to put it together without assistance.

Second review I've written for this - not sure why the first was removed.... This has been a great box spring/bed base so far. It's been in use for several months and I have yet to hear a crack, squeak, or even a peep out of it. After years of dealing with crappy wooden box springs that always broke due to the wide slat spacing, I decided to give the metal setup a try, and I'm glad I did! First, let me say the 9 inch foundation is TALL! It was an adjustment at first, but now that we're used to it, we like having a taller bed. Using this in combination with a 14" mattress on an elevated sleigh bed, we're nearly 3 feet off the ground! Second, after reading some reviews prior to purchasing, I saw where others noted that the velcro slat system left a lot to be desired. Once user added screws to the slats to hold them in place and prevent noise, so I did the same when I was putting this together. Drilled holes along the frame and slats and then secured the slats to the frame with screws, and everything is nice and tight. Granted, this took quite a bit of extra time and effort (not including the mess in my living room from drilling), but I'm glad that I made the modification as it seems to really have improved this product. Again - I have absolutely no noise coming from the foundation - I've tried and I can't make it squeak! Getting the cover on was very easy - I did have help but it wasn't a fight at all. Overall, I'm very pleased with this. It provides great support for my gel mattress and is silent. Total game changer when you're used to the traditional pallet-board box springs. I plan to purchase another one in the future for our guest room bed, and I have absolutely no reason to look elsewhere. This is a great product and it's really not hard to assemble, even if you do the modifications like me and several others. Highly recommended! ... show more
