  • Good, solid frame for the money.
Size: Queen Style: 14 inch
After perusing many reviews for a queen platform, I decided to go with the Zinus 14' metal platform bed. The assembly was simple and took about 45 minutes at a leisurely pace. The instructions show pictures; there is no written explanation. I did not find this to be a problem. You begin with the 4 corner pieces, bolting them to each side rail, and then to the front and rear. After that, you bolt the center legs to the 2 sides. Then you attach the legs to the center beam, then bolt the beam to the front and back. The last step is to pop in the metal crossbeams. I had to start each end into its slot by going back and forth evenly. This might be accomplished more easily with 2 people. In the end, they pooped in with no problem. The package provides one extra each of the 2 kinds of allen-wrench screws. There were two wrenches included, one for each size. A few of the holes didn't line up exactly, so that the screws had to be started at a slight angle, but they soon straightened out just fine. An earlier reviewer complained that the mattress slid around, because there's no lip around the edges to hold it in place. Apparently someone at the company was listening. Four of the cross-slats had peel off strips revealing adhesive. These I distributed evenly. So far, there's no slippage. When the adhesive wears out, I'll just get some 2-sided tape and cut it into strips. The combined weight of my partner and me is 360 lbs. The bed is even and solid with no squeaks and is fine with boisterous activity, although the unit did scoot across the floor a bit. The legs on mine are smooth on the bottom and do not seem to scratch my hardwood floors, though I will probably put something under them anyway. The unit is easy to slide for cleaning underneath. All in all, a good deal. Who needs box springs? My mattress sleeps just fine without them. A final note: I would say my mattress feels slightly firmer on this platform than it did on the box springs. Also, watch out for major toe-stubbing if you're not used to legs on the side of your bed! ... show more

  • Great frame, awesome assembly.
Size: Queen Style: 16 inch
This is a really great bedframe! Looks nice, really sturdy construction, and they really thought through the assembly. About that assembly. Every screwhole has a number next to it; you start by matching up the two that have the number 1 on them and inserting the screw. The allen wrenches needed to turn the screws are included, as are a few spare screws (labeled as such so you don't think you're messing up when you don't need them). Then you proceed to the ones that have 2 on them and so on. After number 11 you put the slats in and you're done. None of the numbers are visible once you're done. I recommend just going finger-tight on the screws and then going back around and tightening them once they're all in (but before the slats) because otherwise it might be tough to get some of them to go in. But I did it by myself in about 20 minutes, and I was moving fairly lazily and misplacing stuff and whatnot. All in all I was pretty impressed with the ease of the process. As for the frame itself, as I said it's sturdy and good looking. It's also a good height in my opinion; I put a Casper mattress directly on it (no box spring) and it ended up right at the height my old "crappy fold-up metal frame+box spring+regular mattress" setup. To quantify that, it's 26" from the floor to the top of the mattress. It also has 14 1/8" clearance from the floor to the bottom of the frame, which is exactly enough to fit a Sterilite 19889804 70qt storage container underneath. As I bought a 4-pack of those the same day I bought this frame with that intent, that worked out just as I'd hoped. Anyway, really happy with this frame. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed. ... show more

  • Exceedingly easy to assemble; the "non-slide tape" is a little obnoxious
Size: Queen Style: 16 inch
I'm giving this five stars because it's sturdy, was inexpensive, and was incredibly easy to assemble. I (regular lady) assembled it alone with zero problems. The package as delivered was heavy and unwieldy, though, so it can be hard to navigate with stairs and such. The instructions are super clear. Everything is easily numbered on the instructions and on the pieces themselves. All required tools and screws are included, and there are extras included. I made sure to tighten everything very tight and I haven't had any issues with squeaking or anything like that. Lots of storage space underneath, which is perfect. The placement of the central support legs is not the most convenient for storage, but I'll take it. Be warned that the actual underbed storage of these "storage platform beds" is not always as listed on the product page--sometimes they list the total height, which includes the actual top of the platform. The real storage is often an inch or two less. The clearance on this bed frame is just over 13.75 inches, meaning that a 13.75-inch-tall box can fit under it, and the total height is a couple inches more than that (16 in). The one thing I don't like is that the non-slide tape is a bad way to keep the mattress from sliding. I haven't had issues with sliding, so I suppose it works, but having tape sticking to your mattress, and unsticking it every time you need to change the sheets, seems like a bad idea. I feel it would have been easy for them to build in some strips of rubber on the slat pieces, instead of using tape. It feels like they cheaped out a bit here. Otherwise, great product--I'm very happy I bought it. ... show more

  • it is a great frame. It is super sturdy and was very ...
Size: Queen Style: 14 inch
Aside from this frame taking forever to arrive, it is a great frame. It is super sturdy and was very easy to assemble. It was packaged well and arrived in good shape. The assembly instructions were very clear and each part is labeled with a number that you literally follow step by step as you put it together. We've slept on it only a couple of nights, but so far it is completely silent and does not wobble one bit. I really want to give it 5 stars, but I feel I have to take off a star for the following three reasons. We did have to modify it a bit. Our mattress warranty calls for slats that are at least 2" wide and no more than 3" apart. This frame has neither. We ended up buying a couple of sheets of peg board and cut them down to fit the frame. We zip tied the board to the frame and it is solid now. There are quite a few mattresses that call for slats no more than 3" apart, I'm not sure why there are not more options out there to fit that requirement. Another issue we did have was that our headboard posts were a little too wide for the frame so I had to purchase a couple of posts to bolt onto the inside of the headboard to give us something to bolt it to the frame. It is nice to have the holes in the frame to accommodate a headboard, but I think that a lot of people going from a headboard fitted to an older style frame may run into the same problem as us and have to do some modifications. As far as the build of the parts, most were welded nicely. There were a couple of rough patches on the frame itself, but really not too big of a deal once a bed skirt was in place. There was one of the middle posts that was welded off center and that was a little bit of a concern for me. The other two were welded with the top part centered perfectly, but the third one was off by about 2 cm. It will probably not be an issue in the long run, but you never know depending on how the weight on the frame is distributed. One last thing to mention, and I will try to preempt the review police by saying that this problem is NOT reflected in the star rating I gave. The item did not ship for almost two weeks. Originally when we purchased it, the listing said it would ship in 3-5 days. But after 5 days, Amazon updated the arrival date to say it was delayed one more week. Then when that week was up, we got another email notifying us that it was delayed yet another week. The confusing part about all of this was that on the current products page, it was listed as in stock and shipped and sold by Amazon. I really don't know what was going on with this whole thing, all I know is that it took a total of 15 days before we finally received the product. Again, this is in no way impacting the star rating I gave. I just wanted people to be aware that this item may take two weeks to arrive. It wasn't too big of a deal for us because we were not in a hurry to receive it, but I feel this is still useful information for others that may be under a time constraint and in need of a frame in a hurry. So far this is a great frame and we are happy with it. We will update this review if anything changes. ... show more

  • Bed Frame is Fantastic
Size: Full Style: 16 inch
I am a very satisfied customer regarding this purchase. The bed frame by Zinus is A-OK, I recommend this product to anyone reading this review--If your thinking of buying a bed frame get the Zinus. #1. I do not need mattress and box spring, you can get by with a mattress, this is great for studio apts, roommates with excess stuff, etc. Right now I am only using an air mattress. My Zinus frame is Full Size model. #2. OK here is the hard part. Assembly was minor job for me I did not have a helper. Zinus sends an excellent illustrative assembly guide ( kind of like a blueprint ) its very easy to assemble ( a cave man can do it ). I suggest if you are mildly mechanically inclined then this will be a piece of cake, it took me two hours, but again, I did this by my self. I recommend having a friend help you. The assembly instructions are numbered, very easy, please read/study assembly guide 1st this helps reduce the anxiety. Also if possible, do not take apart your old bed and mattress first use them as a work table to lay the parts on etc, that's how I did it. Everything is numbered, all the frames, posts, are numbers and lettered . Go to Youtube and see if any videos are there, this might help. I had fun doing this, If you have to call someone for assistance it could cost around $50--$75. #3. Finally, there are 12 slats/bars for the bed frame, they are real easy to attach to the frame, they go on last your mattress will lay on them, these slats have a thin strip of adhesive that goes across the entire part, I removed the adhesives, I recommend you just insert the parts and do not take the white strip off the metal slat, this is no big deal, the adhesives is suppose to keep the mattress from sliding/moving around at night while you are resting. Shipping was great, I am Prime member, it took 2/3 days no problem for me. I hope this review helps you. Happy Sleeping!! ... show more

  • Sturdy frame, tons of support, clear assembly instructions.
Size: Queen Style: 14 inch
Before buying a new bed-in-the-box style mattress, I wanted to see if a better bed frame might give my sagging mattress more support - and it did. My economical bare-bones metal bed frame was not supporting my mattress in the middle, and what a difference this metal platform bed frame has made. I have a box spring on top of this frame, which I think is totally unnecessary. I live in a small space and don't have room to "store" the box spring before tossing it, so I'm going with the Princess and the Pea style sleeping arrangement for a while. There is a simple non-skid system of double sided foam tape that keeps your mattress or box spring from sliding around the metal platform. Smart solution. Instructions are clear, and assembly is easy. I came across a hiccup when I was attempting to put the last two screws in the frame. I think my polished concrete floors are uneven, which created sort of a rhombus instead of 90 degree corners, making it difficult to get screws to align with holes. I knew exactly what the problem was, it just took me a minute to find a solution that worked for my situation. Once the frame is together it takes no time at all to snap in the supports. I like the look of this frame and the storage space. I did add felt pads to the underside of the legs. Although they are made of smooth metal, I am quite sure they'd scratch my floor's finish. Hard against hard. The felt pad are sticky on one side, and cut-to-fit. Easy Home Depot solution. ... show more

  • Makes an okay guest bed, but overall not a good frame
Size: King-16 Inch Style: 16 inch
We bought this frame expecting a decent budget frame with good storage space, but in retrospect, I wish we had purchased something different. We have a Smartbase Elite in our master bedroom, and after adding a few washers, it is solid. The Luis Quick Lock, on the other hand, has bent out of shape after two of years of moderate use as a guest bed and the occasional afternoon nap. The thick black outer frame makes this bed look solid, but it is actually thin-walled rectangular steel tubing. Once the tubes bolt together, a little weight easily causes the frame to flex. Since some of the legs are only attached with a single bolt, they are easily (and permanently) bent with moderate force. The bed was not difficult to assemble, but took longer than expected. Some of the bolt holes did not line up with the bolts, requiring multiple attempts to discover which corner leg fit best in each corner. It took careful maneuvering to ensure that the bolts did not cross-thread. Once fully assembled, only the feet at the corners touched the ground; those in the center of the bed, as well as the middle legs on the sides, were hanging as much as a quarter inch off the ground. The slats are similar or the same as what Zinus uses in their bunkie board. This part of the frame is good; I only wish the foam used to silence the slat movement were a little heavier duty, as it has worn away. The feet on the bed are plastic, and they will scratch a hardwood floor. I recommend a rug and/or silicone feet under each of the 9 legs. The bed is very squeaky getting in and out of it. I have alleviated this a bit by disassembling the entire bed and using some heavy-duty tape at every attachment point. Where possible I have used a rubber washer (cut out of gasket material) to eliminate squeaking and ensure all the legs touch the floor. Some of the legs are no longer vertical; I will be adding an L-bracket to reinforce them. There are daily drivers and project cars -- this bed is a project bed, not a daily sleeper. ... show more

  • Wiggly frame
Size: Queen Style: 16 inch
I read through many of the reviews before I bought this, and I completely agree with what many people said here: once you understand the directions, this frame is pretty much a cinch to put together. I wouldn't say as little as a half hour, but definitely within an hour it can be put together completely. On the whole, this is a very solid frame, and I very much enjoy it because it fits both my Zinus mattress and my roommates queen sized bed from a different brand. Not only that, but the 16in allows a lot of nice space beneath the bed. My issues with this frame is twofold: First, when these were sent to me, the boxes were ripped and taped haphazardly as though what I had been sent were merely someone else's returns. I bought two of these at the same time, same order, and they were both like this. Not only that, but my roommate's frame was actually missing one of the pieces! Not one that made the frame unusable, but one that made me question the integrity of it. Roommate still sleeps on it fine. My second issue is what I've experienced from sleeping on it for two weeks. I toss and turn in bed, and because of that, although this is a solid metal frame, I (and my roommate) are finding that with time the screws actually become loose, to the point that one of his actually fell out and had to be put back in. So now when I get into bed and turn from one side to the other, the frame sways and I worry that pieces might come loose or even fall without me knowing ahead of time. I strongly dislike having to retighten the screws every few days. I sincerely love the design of this frame, and love that it feels like a strong frame that will out last my mattress. However, due to the issues listed above I cannot give it any higher than three stars. ... show more
