We purchased 2 variants of this mattress for my son's new bunk bed (twin over full). The full was the 8 inch ZINUS 8 Inch Green Tea Cooling Gel Memory Foam Mattress. So that has seen the most use. Its probably a bit overkill for a 5 year old. But we wanted something that we could lay in bed next to our child, and still be comfortable. We are now debating getting something similar for our own room. I think the 8 inch is perfect for that. We also got the 8 inch ZINUS 8 Inch Green Tea Essential Memory Foam for the top bunk. It hasn't seen the same amount of use. And maybe that is why I really can't tell the difference between the two. I think I like the gel model more, and its only like $10 between the two. We sleep a bit hot, and I do think the gel version helps. If you are deciding between the two, spend the extra $10 bucks. Its worth it. If you are looking to replace a mattress for an adult, I would suggest getting at least the 10 inch if not 12. I have slept in this 8 inch version a few times, and its well worth the price. But if we were to get a replacement king size for us adults, I think it would be well worth going to the 12 inch. I am 200 lbs and its not like I was maxing out the 8 inch. But I know there would be more support if the 12 inch was my daily mattress. I am scratching my head to try and figure out what you get different for some of these that are double the price or more. I do believe you could make a case for strong diminishing returns. They might be slightly better, but in comparison, not worth the cost. There were reviews about how well it expands. After about an hour, everything was almost completely expanded. Except for the corners. After a day or two, fully expanded, including the corners. And its very close to a full 8 inches. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

The best thing about this mattress is when your partner comes into bed, you don't even feel it. With most mattresses, you bounce around a bit, but you could be sipping coffee and your partner could jump into the bed and you wouldn't spill a drop. The worst thing about this mattress is when you are getting up in the morning, it has molded around your form and you have to climb out of the hollow that it forms around you.

I read a lot of mattress reviews before making this purchase. It is very firm yet comfortable. My husband and I both sleep great on this mattress and it has helped relieve minor back pain from sleeping on an old mattress. It only took a few hours to reach maximum size. After a few months, it is still firm and comfortable.

This is our third purchase of this mattress. I love them. Unfortunately we had a fire so I had to buy them again but they’re great mattresses. It’s been about 4 hours and it’s already expanded to about 11 inches. I’ll update after 72 hours. Our other ones were perfect!

Great mattress. I got a king for me and hubby and my daughter got a queen. I don't mind medium-firm mattresses but my husband and daughter both said it was too firm for their liking. I even had to spend another $100 on a mattress topper for my daughter just so she could sleep. The listing says it's "Medium" but I'd say more medium-firm.
