I am impressed with this box-spring. The quality of the build is excellent, and the craftsmanship impressed me. Years ago I delivered furniture, having put together many different types of furniture, beds etc. I have seen some alternative box-springs and whatnot, but this takes the cake. Unlike a traditional box-spring made with wood, this is not going to wear down over time and squeak due to the grip of the nails in the wood (a common issue with squeaking in construction). First, assembly took me about 20 minutes, and I didn't even need the instructions. I was able to put this together easily by myself and move it by myself as well.The parts are marked "up" conveniently where you might go astray in the build, and it stays together well enough before adding the bolts/nuts so that one person can do it alone, provided you do it on a flat surface such as the floor. I love that this boxspring can come apart too, if anyone needs to get it into a tight area (the worst part of a bed delivery, imo is the box-spring as it cannot bend/fold). I have gone from a two part box spring for a queen mattress down to this and it makes NO sound whatsoever. Craftsmanship is excellent, and the parts fit together like a glove. The "slats" are not attached by screws, rather just sitting in place, but they are wedged in place and do not move out of place. Only weak spot I thought of was having the zipper face down so that the zipper part of it sits on frame (thus possibly cracking the zipper or its mechanism) but the zipper comes toward the center of the box-spring far enough to clear the side boards of my bed, so I will have to see if the zipper takes damage over time from the downward pressure. Certainly not going to knock anything for that. Edit: Dec 1, 2017: This is still absolutely quiet and no squeaks at all over the past couple months. Really highly recommend this box spring to anyone looking for a lifelong keeper. Edit: July, 2019: Still a perfect boxspring!

Technology is going so fast for this baby boomer.I order a box spring which I thought when deliver was ready to put down on my bed.Not too fast they deliver a tall skinny box which was very heavy.Already I thought Amazon made a mistake when I open the box I only saw metal railings which look like rails that holds up a box spring mattress.Also in the box was a plastic bag that had a mattress cover in it with bolts and nuts .I said what the hell is this...lol I was saying where is my box spring mattress?When I look at the instructions that in the box.I notice that I will have to build this box spring mattress.What ! build a mattress ! What happen to the good old days when you order a mattress it came ready.Well baby boomer welcome to the 21st century.I said ok I accept this new way of receiving a mattress.So I look at the instructions which was right up my alley being that I'm a maintenance worker tools was my thing.The instructions was very easy to read.If you can read that A goes into B you can build this metal bed frame which was very sturdy metal.It took me about a hour and fifty seven minutes to assemble the frame.And last but not least you slide the mattress cover over the metal frame zipper it up and walla! You have a box spring.I put in down on my bed put the top mattress on top.It raise my top mattress up a few inches which I wanted instead of that plate form feel of one mattress.With a this box spring it made my bed so more comfortable.It was money well spent.

1st - the person who gave 2 stars put the frame together WRONG. 2nd - It's super easy to put together. Strong & sturdy. I'm very pleased. 3rd - The covering you need to be careful and help it zip up, don't just zip. It may tear. Pull the to be zipped pieces together a little at a time and zip. It is a tight fit, but works and looks nice. Quiet.

I very rearely review or comment on any product that I receive but the Linus foundation makes me change my policy. This is a fantastically engineered and manufactured product. I have been a design engineer in the consumer product space my entire working career (38 years) and I found this to be one of the best products that I have ever purchased . The parts were accurately made so that all of the screw holes easily aligned. Parts that were supposed to fit together actually did fit together! The hardware required was entirely packaged in a blister pack. Not only did this ensure that all screws were sent but Zinus provides spares! The instructions were very well done with pictures detailing each step. They even went as far as marking each part and showed the part numbers clearly in their instructions. My hat is off the the Zinus project team (engineers/marketing/quality/manufacturing) who put this all together. Good work, look for my resume to arrive shortly!

I read just a few reviews prior to purchase, and one rather negative review had to do with assembly. I didn't know there were mattress bases that needed assembly, couldn't even visualize how it would arrive or what would be required. I am a 68-year-old woman and had this base together within 30 minutes! The design is brilliant! And it is solid as can be without any noise whatsoever.

This is probably my favourite company for bed frames and the accessories ever. They really have the customer in mind. They even give you a Zinus brand rachet that works effortlessly. It took about... Hm.. thirty minutes. The bed frame is easier and quicker to put together because a lot of things are pre-installed on that but on this one it takes a bit more effort. It's still great though! The bed I had before CREAKED, it was so incredibly loud but this one is so quiet! I'm only about a month in and will update if it starts to creak. I paired this with the Zinus brand bed frame even though it isn't required with that frame and the Zinus bed frame end brackets turned upwards to hold everything in place well. 2020 update: It has started to slightly creak during certain particular.. activities. If you are just getting on or off the bed, adjusting or anything of the more calm nature it is absolutely hush hush but for blanket Olympics, it is quietly, randomly creaking.
