I really like the Zinus Queen Green Tea Essential Memory Foam mattress. I would buy it again. What I don't like is when the price is lowered a week after I buy it. I opened it up and put it on the new platform frame within 8 hours it was at 10 inches, I slept on it and the next day it was 10.5 inches. After 3 days it is 11 7/8 inches. So close enough to 12 to make me happy. It's a little firmer than I am used to, but my older mattress was a very nice 12-inch double pillow top that I purchased 27 years ago. It held up for 25 of those 27 years. It was hard to sleep on for the last two years and I did not look forward to laying on it. I have insomnia and sleep is hard for me anyway, so I decided to purchase a Zinus after I sat on my son's and his wife's bed one afternoon. I can honestly say it does take a little getting used to (memory foam) if you're not accustomed to it but I sleep well on it. It just takes me a little bit to get comfortable at first but when I finally do get comfortable, I sleep really well on it. My husband laid on it and said " I like it" he definitely likes a little firmer mattress than I do. I would say it's about a 7 on the soft to firm scale. I have a friend who purchased a memory foam and she said she hated it until day 29, then she loved it. I am going to buy a twin for our spare bedroom. ... show more

I was a bit nervous after all the mixed reviews I've seen and heard. Glad I got it! First off I didn't have any weird chemical smells, the mattress fluffed up to full size after 2 days. (I slept on first night but the edges took an extra day to fluff up all the way). It's already known that these have fiberglass on the inside as a fire retardent and no you are NOT supposed to open it up! Should be fine if you don't take off the covering. Obviously I put my own washable coverings on it. (I use the stretchy cotton jersey sheets and it's so soft.) Finally yes it's very soft and comfy. It is slightly on the firmer side which is good for me, the memory foam is giving me good support and I sleep really good. Less back pain than my junky old spring mattress. ... show more

It is more firm than I would like, but it's still comfortable; However, it's not one that I would like to sleep on every night because of that. This is pretty firm, which is what i was looking for. I dont like the super soft ones. It expanded fully within a couple days, i did sleep on it first night tho. Helps to have it on a slatted bed frame that way the mattress can breathe and not hold heat. Awesome mattress for the price!

I bought this for my daughter's room to replace a memory foam matress that everyone deemed too firm (her room doubles as a guest room, she does not live here full time). I searched to find one that was just medium firmness and thought that's what this was but this is very firm in my opinion and compared to the temperpedic I sleep on.
