I kept this mattress in the box for like 2/3 weeks to have ready in my new house, despite the directions saying to open it soon after receiving it. Safe to say it still expanded to its proper size (12in) from what I can tell visually at least. It’s a pretty tall mattress but not too tall to the point you need deep pocket sheets. I normally have awful back pain but it seems to have been lessened a lot since sleeping in this mattress and I’ve only been using it for a week. I am a side sleeper and I love it. I fall asleep quickly and it is still “cool” even with a waterproof protector on it. I overheat easily and have had no problems with it being warm. THIS IS NOT A PLUSH/SOFT MATTRESS. It is firm to the touch, you will only sink in a little, and I’m sure those are factors that go into the pressure relieving properties of this mattress so I’m not surprised by this. I’ve never had a mattress this dense feeling but I honestly really like it, and how it makes my body feel. I’ve been sleeping like a baby. I recommend it personally. Be warned, the sides are not as dense. Before my bf and I got our bed frame, he rolled right off the edge and onto the floor after getting too close to the edge. After that incident we made sure to stay inward a little more and it hasn’t been an issue since, even less now that we have our bed frame in use.

Update: 3 years later, I still love this mattress. It’s held up, is supportive and comfortable and never sleeps hot. It’s been a very good buy for me. It’s a very good inexpensive mattress that has proven to be a great value. I replaced a 20+ year old Sleep Number mattress with this mattress. I've had it over a week now and love it. The mattress is medium firm, which I like. The top layer of gel-infused foam provides a bit of sink in comfort, but not to the extent that it's hard to move or change positions. Mine expanded to a full 12" within 2-3 hours of putting it on my bed (I kept the Sleep Number foundation on the bed under this mattress). I don't wake up with back or shoulder pain at all. My old Sleep Number mattress was giving me both. To give you an idea of the give in the top layer, I have attached a couple of pics of my dogs on the mattress. I will say, they LOVE the new mattress and I have a hard time getting my Pittie (Black & White pup) to get off of it. The Rottie/Shepherd weighs about 92 pounds and you can see, the mattress has a good amount of cushioning for joints and pressure points. It's been a GREAT buy! I will check back in 3 months and a year so I can say how the mattress holds up over time. Can't beat the price on this and I will be buying another one for my son soon. A month and a half later - STILL loving this mattress. It is still very comfortable. I sleep great. I don't think it sleeps hot. I don't wake up with back or shoulder pain. I bought a second one on Prime Day for my son. I don't think you can go wrong with this mattress. Four months later - this mattress is still great! My Pittie races me up the stairs to the bedroom and jumps in the bed first. When I'm at work, she sleeps on the bed. I love it. It's firm, yet comfy. I'm never hot and my room is the hottest room in the house during summer. I've recommended this mattress to all my friends and family. This has been an excellent value. 14 months later - This mattress has held up well over time. It’s still firm yet with enough cushion to be very comfortable. It has continued to be an excellent value for the money paid. No backaches or shoulder pain after sleeping on it. Both my son’s and my mattress are in excellent condition. I continue to recommend this mattress.

I had to downsize to a queen bed and didn’t want to pay thousands for a mattress and bed. I was scared to buy a mattress that comes in a box because I was worried about comfort, it being too soft, or not what I needed in general. I got it in the mail today, took it out the plastic and it literally got to its full size in less than 5mins. When I laid on it, I was surprised how comfortable it was. The bed literally wrapped around my body but has a firmness to it that I love. I am the only person sleeping on it and I weigh 165. It's great for me. If you have a partner in sure it can work bit I got the 8” so maybe a thicker bed would work. I'm very happy.

This is the second 12" Zinus mattress I've bought.The first was a king for the master bedroom.This one is for the second guest room.My third bedroom also has A Zinus mattress but its a 10". I had a full size 10" that I gave to a family friend when we cleared my parents home after they passed away. I kept the one 10" mattress for guests who prefer a bit firmer mattress but they all sleep really comfortably. I've also recommended Zinus mattresses to several friends who purchased their own. Everyone who I know who bought one has loved it. The truth is that after a few years they do develop indentations where you sleep.This can be delayed by spinning the mattress from time to time. Honestly they don't fair any worse than the $1800 name brand pillow top I had before the Zinus wave hit our house.And the truth is even if you had to replace them a time or two to get the same service life....you'd still sleep well and have money in your pocket left over. After all the mattresses we've bought,none have ever failed to "puff up"to the correct thickness.Nor has anyone I know every experienced the "chemical"smell some have mentioned. All in all,as you can tell I am a huge fan.By the way I am a retired construction work. so pressure relief is a great help to my over 300 pound frame.

I don't sleep very well and a poor mattress exacerbates the problem. I had bought one of these for my son when he went to college and he raved about how good it is. I was pretty skeptical because I'm pretty sure college boys could sleep on just about anything, but he is very tall and does sometimes complain about his back hurting when he sleeps at home. At his recommendation, I bought one for our ranch house, which I sleep on about half the time. It was very reasonably priced, easy to transport and really easy to set up on a bed frame. Best of all, it is one of the most comfortable mattresses I have ever slept on. I'm a stomach or side sleeper and slept through the very first night on it, pain free. Way better than the temper-pedic that I have on my other bed. Thinking of buying yet another one in the near future to replace it too.
