As a member of Vine I have reviewed a lot of mattresses and of all of the mattresses I have received for review, the Zinus mattresses are the ones that have seemed to impress us the most and stay with us the longest. My son still has the very first one we reviewed from them for his bedroom and refuses to part with it. So when it came time to buy a mattress for our master suite there was no question with what brand we would be buying. I already knew I liked the brand and could count on the quality. While I had not personally had this particular cooling mattress before I am a very hot sleeper so it was the one I decided to go with and their 12 inch mattress had served us well in the past. If you've never ordered a memory foam mattress online don't be surprised when it comes in a very heavy but smaller than might be expected box. When you open it, it looks like what I call the beef jerky of mattresses in there. Don't let the looks deceive you. The mattress will expand quickly. You want to get it into position before openining the seal. Once you do it's going to start to "inflate" at a rapid pace. We put it on the box spring (also made by Zinus) and as we had anticipated it began to expand. Within an hour I could lay on it comfortably (if it was a bit firm). By nighttime it achieves more softness and takes about 48 hours to a week to achieve full softness but you can indeed sleep on it the first night. I did not notice any odor with this mattress, and trust me I'm prone to odor induced migraines so I'd notice if there was a problem with chemical smell. I had a mattress once that I had to leave in the lanai for a week to air out. This one wasn't a problem at all. It may have a very mild odor that I didn't notice because I'm stuffy but if there is any it's really not at all noticeable enough to comment on. As far as comfort, I love this. I suffer from chronic pain. I need a mattress that bounces back to form quick so I can roll over to another spot and not sink back into the spot I was in. This does that. I would call it a medium firm. Soft enough to cushion but firm enough to give support. In my book it was money well spent. I was lucky enough to have the luxury of testing a few different brands before making a purchase but I have to say that even if this cost more than it did I still would have chosen this one. Well worth the price when mattress stores are charging five times as much if not more for comparable mattresses. If I run into problems I'll update my review as always but so far so good. Edit 1: So I've been having severe hot flashes at night for a while now. Before we got this mattress I'd wake up at least four or five times a night having a major night swear and unbearably hot. Since getting this mattress that hasn't happened to me once, so (at least for me) I can attest to the fact that the cooling effect does indeed work. I'm by no means cold but I no longer wake up feeling as though someone has suspended my body over a lava pit. What has happened however is that I now wake up with a sweaty head and am now in search of the perfect cooling pillow to go with this mattress.

The mattress ended up being about what we had expected. More firm than a traditional spring mattress, but softer than others we have either slept on or tested out in a store. We, like most, were tempted in spending much more money from either a store or a bigger name brand online, but overall are very satisfied with our purchase. We also purchased the normal Zinus frame, which went together easily and has been doing a good job for us so far. Packaging. It was easier than expected and the box wasn't as heavy as I thought it would be. It was easy enough to open, get the mattress out (that was nicely packed) and into our bedroom for opening. At some point during the process, we must have torn a small hole in the plastic bag and we could hear air starting to get in. Thankfully, we were able to get the mattress on the frame and the plastic off before too much expansion happened. Set up/Expansion. We slept on the mattress the first night we set it up after about 6-7 hours of expansion. We felt like it was around 11", so we wanted to try it out. After sleeping on it over this past week, it has grown to 12" all the way around. We slid some cardboard (from the shipping box) under the mattress and on the frame to prevent the foam from leaking through the slots. It's worked great so far! Smell. I hesitate to actually say this, but my wife swore for the first couple of days it smelled like Peanut M&M's. She has a weird sense of smell, but it did have a smell, although not bad or overpowering at all. After a week we don't notice anything at all. Firmness. We decided with this mattress in particular because it was supposed to be softer than others. We're glad we got this one, because it is still more firm than we are used to. After a few adjustments to how we sleep, we both find the bed very comfortable and it is great. Movement/Support. Although we haven't tried the wine glass test shown on older commercials, we have tested seeing if we can tell if the other is getting in or out of bed. For the most part, we can't tell. Like almost all foam mattresses, if you are too close to the sides, you will find there isn't a lot of support. I sleep pretty close to the sides and haven't had any issues. Overall impression. I am VERY satisfied with our purchase. Not only did we save HUNDREDS (if not thousands) of dollars, it was delivered quickly and easily. We haven't had to deal with customer support, but hopefully between Amazon and Zinus we could resolve any issues if they were to come up.

I do not typically leave reviews for items. But, this is a mattress. Which is not an easy thing to purchase without having tried it. So I’m going to share our updates over time here in hopes to help the other indecisives like myself. A little background- I am currently 36 weeks pregnant. I tend to have painful pregnancies. My hips hurt, I have symphysis pubis dysfunction, I usually need help getting out of bed, I have to wake up to roll over, etc. I tried to convince my husband to try a new mattress during my last pregnancy, but it was a no go. This time, he agreed. When it arrived, I immediately took it out of the package to begin inflating. It shouldn’t be left in the vacuum seal any longer than needed, but definitely not any longer than 72 hours. Within the first couple of hours, it had inflated to about 9.5 inches. Later that night it was around 10-10.5. The next morning it was at the full 12. The corners on one end of the bed curve up a little at the bottom- I haven’t checked the other end. This doesn’t affect the function of the mattress, and if that’s the only complaint to be had, I’ll take it. This is a firm mattress. There is cushion in that top layer, in which it molds to joints and pressure points. We may purchase a topper in the future, but we’re currently content and need the support given. The first night I slept on this, my only complaint would be that there seemed to be more heat where my torso lies. The next morning, I woke up with minimal pain. I was actually able to get out of bed and walk without my husbands help. That is big for me, especially at this point in pregnancy. I did not have to wake up constantly to readjust myself. The second night, I did not notice the heat issue. Regardless, I will be purchasing cooling sheets because I like to be on the colder side when I sleep and we planned on doing that anyway. The second night was my husbands first night. He woke up the next morning and said he actually got a good nights sleep and also experienced less pain upon waking. He said his alarm startled him, as he was in such a deep sleep. He seems to have more energy today as well. He’s looking forward to sleeping on it again. He was quite hesitant to use this mattress and chose to sleep on our old mattress the first night. Our three year old wakes up and ends up in our bed often. On the old mattress, she tossed and turned, kicked, would lay sideways, ended up at the foot of the bed, etc. The two nights she has been on this mattress, she picks a spot and Does. Not. Move. At all. That’s quite crazy for her. I’m not sure if it’s the mattress’s doing or just a coincidence. Because I know people often look, we got a platform frame from Zinus. I looks like a box. It has wood slats and comes in a couple of different heights. We chose the 10 inch. I will come back and update at the end of the week and later in the future.

I've been sleeping well lately on my Zinus 12" mattress. Both my wife and I like it a great deal. First off, we like a nice firm support, and this is definitely a firm mattress. No matter what they say about the plush feel of the memory foam, this is a mattress that -- at its core -- is darn firm. That's good for us. May not be good for someone expecting to "sink into" the soft top layers of memory foam. Won't happen. My comments are the result of my purchase, on Amazon, of a defective one that had to be disposed of, and finally a replacement that works beautifully. I would suggest that the comments from the manufacturer are very iffy as to "truth content." Yes, it's a good mattress, and we're comparing it to a Spring Air brand (spring type and box springs) that we had for 20 years previous, and that Spring Air cost a number of magnitudes more than the Zinus. My issues are the BS they load the sales information with . . . such as, expands in 48 hours (takes a couple of weeks in our experience to fully expand), or the "smell goes away in 72 hours" or something like that. We're still experiencing that chemical foam smell, a couple of weeks into it. I sure don't smell any essence of green tea or whatever that was supposed to be all about! This is just one stinky piece of foam -- but we kind of expected that, so it's not a disappointment. But I do believe that the photo their marketing people use (of a perfectly squared off corner, and a perfectly expanded foam mattress) are a bit over the top, and that has led to some of the griping you find in the lower star reviews. I've had two now, and neither one expanded properly in the corners. Nor was either one 12" high . . . They are about 10.5" high when they appear to be fully expanded. The defective one we had was 9" in some areas, and 11" in others, so that's not acceptable. But the replacement we have is perfectly inflated, and the same height (10.5") all around. The corners don't look like the corners in the photo that is used here, though. And I don't think that matters personally. The ultimate goal of a new mattress is to give you an improved sleep. For my wife and I, this one delivers on that promise and represents a good value. I would suggest, however, that they start marketing it realistically and they will avoid people complaining about each and every little thing. There's one negative review here with photos and believe me, I'm sure thats still a darn comfortable bed to sleep in, and that the corners being slightly goofy looking has nothing to do with the sleep performance of the bed. I've downgraded the review from 5 stars to 4 stars because of this tendency the company has to make all kinds of statements that just aren't true. Are they selling a good mattress with a great value? YES. Are they selling a non-stinky mattress that's cool sleeping and that has a wonderful green tea gel and that perfectly expands when you take it out of the box? ABSOLUTELY NOT. It's up to you what you decide, but you certainly are going to get your money's worth here, as long as you enjoy a firm mattress. It has a pleasant soft and cushy feel when you lay down, coupled with the feeling of firmness that you need if you have back issues. My only disappointment is their marketing description and the tendency to go with significantly overblown statements.

I had my doubts about this mattress, but my wife insisted. One of our sons had a lesser version of this mattress, and he seemed to like it a lot. Our traditional name-brand mattress was probably five years old, and it was developing ruts. It had a memory foam top built-in, but it would more or less swallow you. I also get overheated nearly every night, waking in a sweat. I thought a full memory foam mattress would be even worse, but I could not be more wrong. The mattress arrived a few days early via UPS. I had one of the kids help me slide the box up our carpeted stairs and into the bedroom. We made room for it and let it out of the box. I was surprised that it only took five minutes to fully take its shape. There were no high and low spots. I expected a strong smell, but there was only a faint one, and only for the first few minutes. I have not smelled it since. We left it alone for a day, as instructed. After letting it rest, I removed our old mattress from the platform (no box-spring,) put a protective (yet breathable) cover on it, and got the new one in place. It was actually an inch or two longer than the old one, so it fit very snugly in the frame. Our fitted sheets went on easier, since it was 3” thinner than the old one. Getting into bed for the first time, I was struck at how I felt I was on top of the mattress, not inside it. How on earth do they make memory foam so firm? I expected to sink into a rut, but it never happened. I fell asleep quickly and slept through the night - something that rarely happens. No sweat, no ruts. Just blissful comfort. It has been several nights since, and I look forward to getting into bed. No night sweats, no body aches, and almost always a full night of sleep. I’m hitting snooze again and again. I’m sleeping past eight hours for the first time in years. My wife has echoed my comments. Go for it. You will not be sorry. I can’t believe how awesome this is. It’s by far the best mattress I have ever owned.

I bought a queen size mattress in 2018. I loved it it was very comfortable. I noticed after a month of having this mattress I needed to do laundry and wash my sheets. I did. And was so tired I just laid down on top of the mattress and took a nap. A few hours later my whole was on fire itching. I thought I had mites or fleas. Put the sheets back on. My husband thought I was crazy. He loved the mattress. So we kept it at the time. I never got used to the itch. I never took the cover off of it. So I ended up buying a different bed and slept in the spare room. My husband was always itchy. A year later we got rid of my bed because it was causing problems in my marriage. So I went back to sleeping on this memory foam mattress again. I suffered from open sores blisters etc I thought it was psoriasis. My wounds took forever to heal and just always had them even when one healed another would form. I thought we had a mould problem in my house I couldn't breath well. Went to the er multiple times over it. My animals were coughing. My chihuahua had been on meds for her breathing.. I was always sick. Always. Moved into another house. Brought the mattress with us. Let my roommate sleep on it when I was out of town. He was very sick went to the VA for what he thought was allergies. He was having trouble breathing and itching like crazy. He thought it was bed bugs. I wish I would have known it was filled with fiber glass. I have no idea what I'm facing medically yet I just realized what was going when I went on Amazon to buy another one because my husband like it. And he's been away for 2 years to surprise him with it. But I saw the fiberglass review and shine my flashlight on it. It was everywhere. Woven in my pillows sheets blanket all my clothes. In the dogs water bowl. My life may be shortened because of this. Idk yet. Who would make a mattress with fiber glass in it. What a dick move. I have no bed now. Had to throw everything away. I can't afford a new wardrobe I'm sitting here with fiberglass in my clothes still itching still having trouble breathing. I hope this saves someone else. 2018 to 2022 review. And come to find out there's a class action lawsuit. I wish this wasn't happening but it is. I'm so sad. Frustrated. And most of all scared.

This review is going to be pretty long lol because I feel like buying a mattress is a big purchase. You know you're paying money for something that you can't physically feel or test out. So i want to try and help others that are interested in buying this bed be well informed. I purchased on March 9th and it arrived March 11th. When it arrived UPS left it on my back porch. It was a big box, and it was heavy. I probably couldn't have brought it in by myself. But my husband was able to carry it in. We opened the box and I read the instructions and you could just tell from the instructions that it was awesome quality. It came with a little pamphlet and they had thank you cards that you could pass out on special occasions. (I don't know why, but i thought it was neat they did that) We pulled it out of the box, unrolled the mattress then we took the plastic off and I noticed like a hump in the middle from it being rolled up. But when the mattress started forming it went away a little bit. I can still feel the hump a little bit but I've only been sleeping on the mattress for a little over a week so I'm sure it will disappear. When we took plastic off and laid it out, it started rising already. We opened it about 1 pm and by the time bedtime came around it was already fully developed. But we waited to lay on it like they recommend, just to make sure it formed to it's full potential. I think the bed is a little firm but I think we just have to "break it in". I'm still giving it 5 stars because the instructions were so easy and simple, the bed is really nice quality, I feel this bed will last me years, and the shipping and packaging was good. So i don't want my personal opinion on the firmness of the bed to take away from the seller or the product. I read the reviews before buying and I seen people talked about a "smell" but mine didn't have a smell also it said it was infused with green tea but it doesn't have a green tea smell? My advise is to BUY THIS BED. But if you prefer a softer bed, I would order maybe the 10 inch? But if you like a firmer bed the 12 inch is the one you want.

If you're looking at this, just buy it. Do it. A king size memory foam mattress for $360.00?? It's an absolute steal at that price and the quality is excellent. I, like most people, was extremely sceptical about buying a mattress online, sight unseen, but I'm so happy I did. My girlfriend and I have been sharing a full size bed for over two years and this was a purchase that was WAY overdue. The only thing that stopped us was the hefty price tag from the regular stores. I'm a slim guy @ 6'2" and she's a short little lady at 5'3" but the full bed was just too small for the both of us to sleep comfortably. The first night we slept on this bed I woke up twice because I couldn't feel her next to me and instinctively was worried that she couldn't sleep and was on the couch. Finally I can sprawl out all I want and there's still plenty of room! I gave the bed almost 72 hours to "inflate", or whatever you want to call it. After the 72 hours or was at its 12" height and all the corners were even and the bed was just great. It is a little more firm than our old bed but I suspect we just need to break it in over time by sleeping on it more. But it's still VERY comfortable and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat if something ever happened to this one. Besides, there's something to be said for a memory foam mattress after sleeping on springs your entire life. I can't say enough good things about this mattress. If you're on the fence or worried about the price tag, I'd say, just buy it. You won't regret it! Edit: I honestly can't believe all of the negative reviews on this mattress. For those worried about the smell, It did have a small to it when it came out of the bag, but after letting it sit for 72 hours to decompress the smell was gone. The bed is still on the firmer side but still so comfortable. The firmness is SUPPORTIVE. My ONLY complaint is that the bed is very warm, I counteract this by using a thinner blanket and sleeping with the windows open (per usual). Still 5 stars, and I'd still buy it again.
