I'm 5'11, 205 lbs and I took a chance on this despite being too heavy for the recommendations. Although it may not be able to keep me above water on it's own(untested), it's very roomy and does not inhibit my kayaking movements at all. Ended up returning this item. The buckle at the bottom made it hard to zip up when snuggly fitted. Also the random text that was misspelled reduced our trust in the quality of this item. Wanted to like this vest but it wasn't the right option.
