The first jacket I received had a manufacturing defect in the zipper pull (not Onyx's fault since YKK makes the zippers). It broke on first pull, so I contacted Onyx for assistance. I sent them pictures of the issue and they sent me a new replacement, no hassles at all. It was doubly nice to interact with a human in their CS department, not just another useless bot. We bought these life vests to go with our new kayaks and were very satisfied with the fit, maneuverability while in the boat (range of motion), and price. We have had these vests for almost two years now and they have held up to being out on the water, in the water, in the sun and in the garage and still look almost new. They function great and can keep us afloat if we happen to go into the water. I would recommend these to anyone who is getting into canoeing or kayaking; I would not recommend them to someone who is paddleboarding. ... show more

Fit is comfortable. It doesn’t cut in under the arms. Not bulky at all, easy to move around in. I didn’t give it 5 stars because it zips. That is personal preference as I think I’d like buckles better. Definitely great vest and I got it on sale!

I am thicker than a snicker as a size 24 with a 46G chest, so finding PFDs has been very challenging for me. A kayaking group recommended the Onyx oversized PFD. Let me tell you, I ALWAYS have to extend everything to the maxed out looseness possible but not with this! I loosened it up all the way and had to tighten it quite a bit, which was an ego boost for me since that never happens. It’s comfortable, cute, and allows the girls to move out to the side without uncomfortably compressing them. I can actually move around in it and it’s very light weight. I will need to make some adjustments once I’m actually in my kayak but I’m so excited to find something that fits my body the way it should at this price. ... show more

After recently buying a kayak, I needed to find a life vest. The ones at the store were too bulky, too uncomfortable, or too expensive. The ones I found online with good reviews were overpriced. Not this one! I'm female, 5'7", 160lbs. This fits perfectly because it's so adjustable. Every strap can be adjusted to fit your body. It stays off my neck, which was high on my priority list. It does NOT interfere with paddling at all. The bottom half of the back is mesh, so it does not ride up when I am leaning against my seat-back. The pocket is large and easily accessible. Ladies! If you are plus-sized, listen up! This life vest/jacket is the bees knees!! It fits well and is cute and it allows you to do things like row and paddle! The oversize fits big ladies! Woo hoo!
