I’ve been using the Onyx MoveVent Dynamic life jacket for kayak fishing, and it’s easily one of the best choices out there for paddlers. What really makes it perfect is the high-back design — there’s no thick padding on the lower back, so it doesn’t interfere with my kayak seat at all. I can fish for hours without feeling cramped or uncomfortable. The mesh lower back keeps it breathable, and it stays in place without riding up when paddling or casting. The front zipper, adjustable straps, and pockets are all well thought out too. It fits securely without restricting movement. If you’re kayak fishing or paddling with a high-back seat, this PFD is a game changer. Highly recommended.

Haven't tried it in water yet, but the fit was very good. I measured my chest and picked the appropriate size off the chart, worked like a charm. Feels lightweight, has the ventilation areas, and range of motion seems really good. I'm in Georgia so hot weather is the norm in summer. We'll see how well I like it after a kayak trip or two...more to come. Update June 24, 2019: took a 4 hour kayak trip down the Chattahochee River, the vest was very comfortable even though I did have to unzip the front during smooth water to keep from getting too hot. The vents in the front are good in theory, but the padding is so thick that it closes on itself on the inside and stops air flow though. Still a nice vest though and worth the purchase.

This is the first paddle vest I've owned, as I've only used traditional life jackets. It's easy to adjust and get a good fit. I use it paddleboarding and is comfortable and easy to move in whether I'm standing or sitting. The attached whistle in the pocket is great since I'm good at losing emergency whistles! I hate wearing life vests, but I have super low lung capacity currently and am concerned about being able to expend a lot of energy for long in an emergency situation. My first time with this jacket proved its worth and may have saved my life. I took an unexpected spill into frigid, choppy water and while I'm a decent swimmer, the cold water took my breath and energy quickly. Thanks to this vest, I was able to stay afloat through the multiple attempts it took to stabilize and get back on my board and keep my paddle from going downriver. I was also pleased to discover when I took the vest off, my sunglasses had been caught inside the vest and kept safe after thinking they had met their fate at the bottom of the river.

This is the most comfortable life vest I have ever had! It's light, open, supportive (I tested the functionality in the lake and it works great). My favorite thing about it is the shoulder/neck design that does not ride up and choke you like most life vests. The range of motion is amazing, I can row in my kayak for hours with complete freedom. I honestly forget I am even wearing it! My only complaint is that you really do look like a total potato with it on. It sticks out quick a bit in the front so it *looks* a bit bulkier than most life jackets, though it does not feel bulky at all. I personally go for comfort over fashion any day and do not mind the trade off at all, but fashion lovers should beware. Otherwise, this is a 5 start product. I love this vest and never want any other kind!

This is my second purchase of this vest. We bought it in purple first then ordered a second in aqua. The vest arrived today but it isn't aqua - more like a bright green. We'll keep it anyway but considering this was $10-$13 more than the other colors I am disappointed in not getting aqua. As for the vest, it is comfortable for kayaking as it doesn't bulk you up around the middle, all flotation material is around the chest and upper back. Easily adjustable too. Has a small pocket with an included attached whistle inside. The style is awesome and quite comfortable. Purple is a true purple. Aqua is more of a bright green.

I hated wearing my previous life jacket kayaking. My hips would push the life jacket up when seated and it would raise off my shoulders. It was bulky and uncomfortable to paddle in. More often than not I just didn’t wear it. But THIS right here is how it should be. It’s sits above my waist so it stays in place when I sit down. There’s no bulking padding under my armpits so paddling is much easier. And the back is vented so I stay cooler. Won’t go without a life jacket now that I have this one. Thank you!

Its a little bit bulkier than some of the more expensive ones that are more than twice the price, but not enough that it matters. It is well vented and i dont get hot while yaking the lakes of FL. Has multiple tabs for a custom fit. Tried it out on quick dip into pool and it definitely keeps my head above water if needed for its intended purpose...a life preserver. I hope this review will encourage more to buy/wear. My heart breaks every time I hear that someone drowned needlessly after falling out of a canoe or kayak. Three I've read or heard about in past year alone...so get it and wear it no matter how good a swimmer you are! So paddle on and be safe with this affordable option!💓🚣♀️

This is a great, reasonably-priced PFD. So far I’ve only used it for paddle boarding but I think it would also be great for kayaking. The arm holes give great range of motion and adjusting the various straps to fit different size individuals is really easy. The PFD is both snug-fitting for safety and also pretty lightweight and breathable. I’ve worn it in 80-90 degree temps so far and although it’s warm it’s not so bad that I think I’ll overheat. Definitely a good value for money. Haven’t actually fallen in yet so I can’t really speak to its flotation ability.
