My tortoise loves to burrow in this bedding. Downsides are that it's hard to initially break apart and it doesn't hold moisture which is important for my red footed tortoise. Also, she covers herself in it and then it washes off in her water dish. But overall, it's healthier for her and she loves it.

This is the first time I have used a compressed bedding, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but it was pretty cool to see how much bedding was actually there once it "fluffed up" after it got hydrated. I got this for my daughter and I's snake enclosures, so I got 3 blocks, total, for 2 snake enclosures and it was more than enough. I am not sure that my snake likes the new bedding, though, as she has been laying on her climbing branch ever since I put this in her tank. I will see how she adapts in time, but I may have to go back to her original bedding if she doesn't start using her hide again soon.

The coco block is easy to use. I keep them for whenever I change my snake's substrate. At first I was worried about adding too much water but the fiber absorbs a lot of water. Allow for the block to absorb the water and it expands and easily crumbles apart. If you add too much water you can squeeze it out of the fiber as well. I typically mix the coco fiber with coco chips and helps with the over watering and it gives a variety of substrate in the enclosure. Keeps humidity well.
