  • Great Substrate That My Ball Python Absolutely Loves
Color: Natural Brown-10LB
I switched to this ZeeDix coconut husk chip substrate for my ball python, and it’s been a great choice. It looks natural, works well, and clearly makes the enclosure more comfortable. A few details that stood out, Comfort and Behavior, my ball python immediately seemed more at ease after the switch. He burrows into it, moves through it easily, and spends more time exploring instead of hiding constantly. That alone tells me it’s doing something right. Moisture Control, the coconut husk holds humidity very well without becoming soggy. This makes maintaining proper humidity levels much easier, which is important for shedding. I’ve noticed cleaner, more complete sheds since using it. Quality and Texture, the chips are a good size, not dusty and not too sharp. They don’t compact into mud and still allow airflow through the substrate. Once expanded, the volume is generous and evenly textured. Odor Control, it does a good job minimizing smells compared to other substrates I’ve tried. Spot cleaning is easy, and waste is simple to remove without disturbing the whole enclosure. Ease of Use, expanding the compressed block is straightforward with warm water. It fluffs up quickly and is ready to use after draining excess moisture. One bag goes a long way. Value, for the amount you get once expanded, this is a solid deal. It lasts a long time and performs better than cheaper bedding options. Pros Comfortable and natural for ball pythons Holds humidity well for healthy sheds Low dust and clean texture Helps control odors Expands to a large usable volume Cons Needs time to hydrate and expand before use Can hold too much moisture if overwatered Bottom line, this coconut husk substrate is a great choice for ball pythons and other reptiles that need humidity and comfort. It’s high quality, easy to work with, and clearly appreciated by my snake. Best for, ball pythons and other reptiles that benefit from good humidity control and a natural feeling enclosure. ... show more

  • Good buy
Color: Natural Brown-10LB
I love buying the compressed blocks. The amount lasts a good bit for all my reptiles and it’s cheaper in the long run, than buying loose substrate bags. No issues with it :)

  • Good spreadable substrate
Color: Natural Brown-10LB
Good stuff! It comes well compacted and easy to break apart for you terrarium. I have a 50 gallon tank and used about 1/2 of this block to provide a substrate base layer. I expected it to be more fuzzy snd less like bark but it really is somewhere between that.

  • Lasts long, not the neatest
Color: Natural Brown-10LB
This expands a lot more than you think it would so it’ll last for months. It does have a lot of little stringy bits and a few pieces of dried leaves here and there, and leaves behind a layer of little bits that look like dirt. Not the neatest substrate, but it gets the job done. It’s very absorbent and has a bit of an earthy smell. ... show more

Color: Natural Brown-10LB
Do not use this product!!! It smells of fuel/chemicals. I tried it in a few enclosures and they wouldn't even lay on it. I removed it all but the lil that remained also stained the animals. Terrible product
