I got this to use for my business to scan a bunch of different things from IDs to label barcodes to upload them to a google document. I used these for all sorts of barcodes from boxes to ID codes. It is pretty easy to just scan something and automatically get added to my google document list inventory system. I am not entirely sure if who the actual manufacturer is as it is zebra on the scanner but it says ANY so I am not sure. Regardless, this actually works pretty well. This can easily set this up and there is software involved which can easily be installed. It also scans code a lot faster than other scanners. The device is not too heavy and there is grip on the bottom so you are able to placed this without it sliding on the table surface. It can be easily connected to your laptop as well via USB. Although the cable ends are different so can be harder to replace. It was a little difficult to plug in for me but it is pretty secure once it is plugged in. This does use laser so do not point it at anyone's eyes or look directly into it. This does use my laptop battery but it is not that much. It is constantly on but you can set it accordingly. This is a great way to easily scan a bunch of barcodes quickly and efficiently. I actually generated my own barcodes and QR codes and they work pretty well. I can easily access the list of items on my computer and see when it was scanned and such. It works great with different kinds of software. This does make organization a bit easier in my opinion. Overall this device is good if you are looking for something to scan barcodes/QR codes quickly and efficiently. It is good for daily use if you need people to scan in every day. The device works well and I have had no issues with reading. The microfiber cloth works but it is nothing too special. It is nice to use to wipe the dust off the scanner. The device lens can be easy to scratch so try not to drop the item. The cable is durable and thick so I am not expecting it to bend and fray.

This scanner immediately feels like professional-grade equipment designed to work quietly and reliably in the background without demanding attention. Setup is straightforward and uneventful in the best possible way—plugging it into a computer results in instant recognition, with scanned data appearing directly in whatever application has focus. The compact footprint makes it easy to place on a crowded desk or checkout counter, and its clean, modern design blends in well without looking industrial or bulky. Despite its small size, it consistently reads a wide range of barcodes quickly and accurately, including damaged labels, small tags, faded prints, and codes displayed on phone screens, which makes it suitable for both retail and administrative workflows. In daily use, scanning performance is fast and forgiving. Items can be passed in front of the scanner without careful alignment, and reads register almost instantly from different angles and distances. Hands-free presentation mode works especially well for repetitive tasks, allowing items to be slid through the scan field while keeping the other hand free. When using the trigger, the aiming spot provides confidence that the correct barcode is being captured. The scanner maintains consistent performance even in dusty environments or during extended use, and it does not appear to overheat or slow down over time. The base has enough weight and grip to stay in place during constant activity, and the overall construction feels sturdy enough for all-day operation. Compatibility is another strong point. The scanner behaves as a standard input device and works across multiple operating systems, including Windows and Linux, without requiring special drivers. It integrates smoothly with common POS systems, inventory software, spreadsheets, and simple text editors alike. The USB cable is thick and durable, resisting kinks and accidental pulls, which helps in busy environments where cords often get snagged. Configuration options are available for users who want to fine-tune behavior, such as adjusting beep volume, though the default settings are usable out of the box. While the scanner excels at reliability and ease of use, there are a few minor practical considerations. The scanning window tends to attract dust and benefits from occasional wiping, making the included cloth useful. The audible confirmation beep can be loud in quiet settings until adjusted. The recessed cable connection is secure but somewhat difficult to access if frequent cable changes are needed. These are small trade-offs that do not detract from overall functionality. Pros • Extremely fast and accurate scanning of 1D and 2D barcodes, including damaged labels and phone screens • True plug-and-play operation across common operating systems with no driver hassle • Compact footprint with a stable base, ideal for limited counter or desk space • Reliable hands-free presentation scanning for high-volume workflows • Durable build and cable suitable for continuous daily use Cons • Scanning window attracts dust and needs occasional cleaning • Default beep volume may be loud for quiet environments • Recessed cable connection can be awkward to unplug Overall This scanner delivers dependable, commercial-grade performance in a compact and unobtrusive package. It prioritizes speed, consistency, and ease of integration over gimmicks, making it a strong choice for retail counters, offices, labs, or home organization tasks where scanning needs to work every time without fuss.

I ordered this Zebra DS9308 because I needed a fast, hands‑free scanner for daily barcode and QR code work. I wanted something reliable that could sit on my desk and instantly read items without having to pick up a handheld scanner every time. When it arrived, my first impression was that it looked professional and compact. The midnight‑black finish blends in nicely on a counter, and the base has enough weight that it doesn’t slide around. The USB‑A cable and cleaning cloth were included, and the scanner felt well‑built right out of the box. Setup was plug‑and‑play. I connected it to my laptop, and it was recognized immediately with no drivers or extra software needed. I tested it with product labels, shipping barcodes, IDs, and even codes displayed on my phone screen. It read everything quickly and without needing perfect alignment. What I liked most is how fast and forgiving the scan engine is. You can pass items in front of it at different angles, and it still picks them up instantly. It also supports keyboard wedge and serial modes, which makes it flexible for different POS or inventory setups. The hands‑free presentation mode is a huge time‑saver when scanning multiple items in a row. The only thing I didn’t love is that the recessed USB port is a little tight to reach if you need to unplug it often. Not a deal‑breaker, but something to note. Overall, this is a dependable, commercial‑grade scanner that works exactly as advertised. If you need a compact, fast, and accurate 1D/2D presentation scanner for retail, office, or inventory work, this one performs extremely well and stays out of the way while you work.

This Zebra DS9308 Presentation Barcode Scanner (1D/2D, USB) is a reliable and efficient option for retail counters, offices, or any setup that requires fast, hands-free scanning. Its compact design and presentation-style operation make it ideal for checkout environments where speed and ease of use matter. What I like most is the hands-free scanning capability with strong performance. You can simply place a barcode in front of the scanner, and it reads quickly without needing to press a trigger. It handles both 1D and 2D barcodes smoothly, including those on screens like phones or tablets. A personal example: using a presentation scanner like this at a checkout station makes transactions feel faster and more streamlined. Items scan almost instantly, and it reduces repetitive hand movement compared to traditional handheld scanners. The USB plug-and-play setup is straightforward, and support for keyboard wedge and serial modes makes it compatible with many systems right out of the box. The included USB cable allows for quick installation without additional accessories.

I've been using this product for a few days now, and it's been a huge help in streamlining my workflow. The setup process was incredibly straightforward, and I was scanning barcodes in no time. The build quality feels solid, and the midnight black finish looks sleek. The USB-A interface has been a breeze to work with, and the serial and keyboard wedge support has been a big plus. The only minor gripe I have is that the standard range might not be ideal for larger or more detailed barcodes, but that's a minor quibble. Overall, this product has exceeded my expectations, and I'm glad I made the purchase. 👍
