20% lighter than our standard Omega. With an incredibly smooth 7-bearing drive and premium components for years of great fishing. Comes with spare spool and extra dual-paddle handle. Forged aluminum provides strength and durability while the double anodization causes the front cover to be anti-corrosive and scratch resistant. The forged aluminum and double anodized front cover looks great while also protecting the inner components of the reel. The triple-cam dial-adjustable disk drag provides evenly distributed force on the drag disks, causing smooth drag performance in high-lockdown or low-end drag situations. 3X positive pick-up ceramic pins provide 3X the opportunities to pick up line in a single revolution for catching line even faster than before (versus a single-pin system). Better Than The Cheap Stuff

I own lots of reels from ultralight spinners to heaving baitcasters and these sit somewhere in the middle. I use spincasts when kayaking down rivers because I can operate them with 1 hand leaving my other hand free to control the yak, etc. They never tangle and work with any lure weight (i.e. light stuff for streams). Unfortunately, the cheaper Zebco models simply do not hold up over time when used in frequent casting applications. I've gone through too many 33's (and micros) to count and could barely make it through a summer with the cheaper models before cranking/casting became so rough as to be unusable. Enter the Omega line! The bearing system and brass drive is built to last even when used heavily in casting applications. Out of the box, these reels are just as smooth as my expensive Shimano baitcasters. Plus, they cast a country mile and never tangle or catch on the edge of the spool cover (no plastic!). Pros: The oscillating spool actually does work. With the cheaper models, landing any fish over a pound (or getting snagged) would screw up the line on the spool. The Omega does a much better job keeping the line nice and even for long, smooth casts in between fish. The ball bearings and metal gears are silky smooth (not unlike a baitcaster) making it much easier to detect bites and get the fish in. The drag works smoother than the cheaper models (although still not as good as a baitcaster). Dialing in the correct setting on the cheaper models can be frustrating (and hard on the finger). The drag roller and the drag itself works much smoother on the Omega. These are relatively lightweight. The push button is sealed (rubber cover) so dirt and sand cannot get into the gear chamber like it did/does on the 33's and cheaper models. As with all Zebco's, these are very easy to disassemble for cleaning and service. Cons: I wish the gear ratio were just a tad higher. The 3.4 actually does a decent job and is a good middle ground and very versatile, but I would prefer something right around 4 to 4.5. That said, the Bullet with the higher ratio is not as smooth as the Omega, so given the choice, I would prefer to keep the smoothness of the Omega over the higher ratio. The drag, while smooth, is a little on the weak side. Even at the max setting on the dial I cannot get the line to fully lock to the point I can break the line without the drag activating. Technically, some might see this as a Pro since we don't want our line breaking while on a fish right? I personally would prefer a slightly stronger drag. Overall, these have a quality feel and there really isn't anything else out there better in a push button spincaster. ... show more

This is a Great Reel

I have one I bought about 10 years ago, and it is still going strong. I recently started fishing again (serious not casual) and found I was constantly getting aggravated but baitcast issues and spinning line twist. The only constant, no-issue reel was the Omega Pro. Little line twist and no snarls or backlash, and casts a mile. The retrieve speed is a bit slower than a casting reel but I think the new version is a bit faster. It has lasted 10 years with no issues, just have to change the line out. I bought a second one for about half of what I paid 10 years ago. If you are looking for a quality reel that rivals high-end spinning and casting reels, this one is a steal for price. It comes with an additional spool and a second handle (at least both of mine did). At the price they are selling for ($56 last I saw) it is hard to go wrong. ... show more

At Least It Cast Good

It is a shame you can't just walk in your local discount store any longer and buy a good quality regular fishing reel. All they sell are those kid reels that strip the gears if you catch a fish larger than a bluegill, or they sell those expensive bait-casting reels. Years ago I bought one of the bait-casting reels. It cost a lot of money, but I was told that they really cast out far. In my experience they only cast out about half as far as a regular reel. Although it is the smoothest to "reel-in" that I have ever used, it cast terrible, and if your thumb ever slips off the spool while casting, the backlash is so bad you have to restring the reel almost every time. Fishing is supposed to be fun and relaxing. For the first time I bought an open face reel. It cast good, but you still have to use you thumb to stop the string or else your stuck in the cattails. It would be so nice to have a boat! I have wasted enough time with these two reels. I finally went online and got a regular reel (spin-cast reel). This Zebco Omega 3 made fishing fun again. It has been a pleasure to be able to pin-point my cast again. You have to get right up against the cattails without getting caught in them. I could never do that with the bait cast or the open face reels. If you see you are getting too close to the cattails or to the bank, you simply push the button back in to get you out of trouble, although I guss you still use your thumb. I gave this reel a five star rating because it cast so far (even better than the open face real), and it is so easy to use. I have read where people compared these reels to the Zebco Rhino. The Rhino does cast good, but I never got over two years before they would not reel-in any longer. I hope this reel out last the Rhino many times; it cost over twice as much. Moreover, I could not even buy the Rhino in the stores. If they still sell them, they are always out. I can not say how long it will last, but it cast great now. ... show more

Good reel in its class

As spin cast reels go I rated it fairly high. I use a spin cast as I drive a tiller steered boat when take out family members, or go myself. It is nice to have a reel that gives no fuss. I have landed quite a few crappies and bluegills and other pan fish with it and have boated Northern pike and bass. After a little experimentation I use it on a lighter rod with 8 pound mono. It is not as good as the Bullet, Zebco's top spin cast but it functions. In addition, the reel has to stand up to pulling in big gobs of weeds which one catches while trolling as well as sometimes fish and weeds. My daughter gave up on spincasts which she liked, after seeing the less expensive reels break down, one in one trip. I use spinning and bait casting reels and in many instances prefer them such as a bait caster for bass fishing in heavy weeds. The Omega drag system is not the best and as others mention, I find that I have to keep an eye on it more than with the other reel types. I use a spinning reel for the lighter weight tackle due to that. When replacing the line, the level is fussy and one tends to over fill. It also has a slower retrieve than my other reels which may not be a bad thing as the bigger crappies tend to fight all the way in instead of being skipped on top. More fun that way. The reel is not as smooth as my spinning reels or bait casting, but they are noted for their smoothness. Paired with a good rod its a worthwhile reel, At least has stood up where the other spin casts have broken down. ... show more

A durable and reliable reel!

I am having so much fun with this reel! It has turned into my primary, go to, fishing reel because of its durability, light weight and due to the fact that I have caught so many fish with it. I bought it 5 months ago and have taken it out on at least 20 different fishing trips so far. It has been with me in some of the most extreme weather conditions my state has to offer. I have used the reel, and the ultra light fishing rod I have it mounted on, in hot weather, heavy snow, ice, rain, and in high wind. In fact, I caught a trophy sized, 25 inch, 7 pound rainbow trout in high winds and extremely cold temperatures with it recently! I was shocked that the reel, rod and light line I was using for that matter held up but it did. What really made the difference I think was the ease of setting the drag on the reel. Since the drag setting is on top of the reel it was really easy for me to set the drag with my thumb so that the big trout played itself out. I have also not ran into any line problems whatsoever that I have with spinning reels. The reel does have some difficulty when retrieving if ice or mud builds up on the line or on the reel itself but in my opinion that is to be expected and easily remedied if the reel is cleaned afterwards. The reel also does not cast light weight lures well either. If casting lures is your primary fishing method then a spinning reel may better suit your needs. However, if you use fishing rigs designed for live bait like night crawlers, leeches, minnows and so on, then this reel is for you. I like to use a slip sinker rig with a small sinker attached to give it some weight. I have had no problems casting my rig out 30 yards or more with this reel in even high wind. A classic spincast reel

I purchased this Omega Pro as a backup for another Omega Pro (size 30 rod and reel combo) that I purchased back in 2022 and have absolutely loved fishing with these past few years. This reel gives me both the spare ez change line spool and extra double end reel handle that were not part of the Omega Pro rod and reel combo. This particular reel arrived on time was nicely packaged in its box and just as described by the seller in the listing. Spincast reels may be unfairly labeled as only for beginners and/or children but reels such as the Omega and the Zebco Bullet (which I also own and enjoy using, particularly with topwater lures) are definitely crafted to a much higher level than an entry level spincast reel. The Omega is ultra smooth on retrievals and a joy to cast. I have never had any problem with line twist, gear jams, etc that I have encountered with some of my other spinning and baitcasting reels. When I just want to get in a no-stress, no finesse fishing session I often find myself reaching for my Omega Pro or Bullet. I fish small streams from the banks. I’m in my 60’s so not a kid either. Loads of trees around me and on the far side of the stream. Also many logs and rocks and potential snags. About half of my casts are underhanded from the raised bank under tree branches meaning the rod tip is at or lower then my belt line during the cast. This reel makes fishing like that trouble free. I can make underhanded flip casts easily and if needed a simple push of the button stops the line from unspooling if my aim was not so great. When casts are unencumbered by trees this reel really shines. The line unspools very easy and the thumb control shines. This is not a toy reel for kids. It is a serious fishing reel that is meant for adults who have had it with the deficiencies of regular spinning reels for stream bank/lake bank fishing. The best feature is that it only requires one hand to make the cast. No need to get the bail positioned in just the right place and flip it over with my other hand. This is the high water mark for fishing reel design- maybe under spin design is slightly better but they share the same beneficial features. ... show more
