Got a 30MG, apparently "opened box" . Spindle scraped on inside, returning. Reel foot too big for a lot of rods. Maybe half of them? How can this be? This is model is absolutely not ready for production! Geeze Zebco! The bullet reels are however the next thing. Who would want to be screwing around with spinning and casting reels with the tangles and backlash if there is an alternative? I do streams. Every cast is a different distance, every step is tripping on boulders, fighting brush, fighting current. First of all, the push-button are one hand. Complete casting with one hand. No transfer from hand to hand either. See? Then on conventional setups, the minute you miss on your spool tension or aren't handling the line with full attention and (4) hands for your spinning, it's tangle city. Plus all new reels have added at least 1,000 sharp edges, facets and crevices so that your new stiffer flurocarbon will securely catch on at least (3) areas the second you slip up. People designing these things are either idiots or believe fishermen are. Not so with the bullet, I saw a pic of an old 300 Mitchell and remembered back to 1970. No area for the line to catch, then a brush between the spool and frame so line could not underwind your spindle. Rarely had issues. Nothing like that is made today. So Zebco can take over. On their bullets, the the (2) winders are ball bearing, and larger diameter than most of the winder on spinning reels, so they solved one major drawback to spincast reels. The line stopping is instant with reeling, or when you push the release button while in a cast. All one handed for any function while casting. No one wants a double handle, but Zebco insists on that so whatever. Plus no one make a reel in a solid neutral color, because they want the fish to be able to spot you, so Zebco has the obligatory fashing surfaces. Same with rods. They can't break up the coloring on the blanks so fish see a solid rod swinging above the which they immediately know is not a loose branch, again, giving them an edge. So Zebco is just being normal here. up the These aren't particularly water proof or sand proof, but whatever. Too much challenge for them right now I suppose. If you drop this and the spool cover hits a rock, the reel may not be very usable. Have an extra ready. I exegetically like the fluorexcent white tip on Ugly Stick rods. Who want's to catch fish in low-light conditions anyway? On spincast, like with spinning, there's no startup inertial, so close in casts and casts at all position with all wrist geometry are always easier and accurate. For a bass pro in a tournament with you always have 360 degree clearance and stable footings, uniform water depths, sand bottoms and no current, and a beer holder for the 4th hand you need free to manage your reel, any $5 reel will do about as well as their $500 one. When no one's around they could use the bullet I suppose, and continue to drink the beer while casting. So while Zebco and their 15 y.o. Chinese engineers who have never fished are figuring out the fine points, I'm am ordering (2) of the MG, only come in 30 size, and (2) of the 20 size bullets, which are not MG, and will try to navigate their system for ordering parts and get an extra spool cover for each size. And I will file down their finely plated but huge magnesium reel seats to fit my G Loomis rods, and am looking forward to fishing and not getting better at untangling line. The engineering is supposedly done in Tulsa, so I am wondering if they are video conferencing from there or they have the Chinese living there. Send those guys out to fish with these. Have them stop by Bass Pro and spend $300 on a rod, then when pondside, learn the reel seat won't fit the rod. The drag isn't that great, but that's rarely a problem unless you have big fish that run, or very light line. Then you just need to improvise. Again, beats untangling line all day long. So I am on the Zebco team. I gave this 5 stars because maybe it's like bitcoin and the company will be worth something someday, after they fix these up a little. In a few years, hopefully I will be able to upgrade to their improved model. For now, I will be happy to do without the tangles. The 30 models btw belong on heavier rods, where you'd normally fish 10# mono or larger. The 20# is fine for 8# mono. With fluour or braid, then the 20 size would work for anything up to Tuna. I am over 70 btw, and after 65 years am world-class at untangling line, but woke up one day and asked myself "why?" At 8 years old I got twice the time with the line in the water with those early spincast.

Smoothest Zebco out there. I don’t think they will ever stop line hanging up when casting it though. Dew to catching a fish. No fault of Zebco they all do it…I have 2 bait casters 2 spinning reals and 2 Zebco spin cast… Omega pro and Bullet MG. What I still choose the bullet over all for now. Just wanted the feeling of the Zebco 33 I grew up with.. 40+ yrs ago. Them days are gone and done spending 200.00 or more to fish. The bullet and omega pro are close but 😔 UPDATE STILL NUMBER ONE IN MY BOAT AKA BACK UP AND GO TO! Omega pro for slower a black max bc along with a the Sol J bc! Just no mo YT videos! Fishing equals 💰

Ordered two reels. Both arrived defective. Handle does not retrieve line freely. Something is broken or catching inside it. It says "Made in China under strict quality control" on the box. Right....

I've used this to fish for probably 50 hours now and caught everything from small bait fish to game fish (all under 5 lbs) in freshwater lakes. I paired this reel with a Ugly Stik GX2 Casting Fishing Rod - 6'6", medium heavy power, moderate fast action rod. In my first takeout with this reel I was stunned at how smooth the cast was. It's absolutely silent when casting as the line glides out of the reel. When the line is loose, it still reels in smooth without tangles. The exception was only after many, many hours of fishing. Your line will bring in small amounts of muck and grime which builds up inside over time so it's important to take the reel off and apart and clean it well to extend the life of the reel (and of course change the line out). Installation on the Ugly Stick rod takes literally 20 seconds to take on and off. My only complaint is that the thumb grips are not going to last very long. They are a hard material but on the flat sides there are two pads glued on with adhesive that doesn't hold up over time. As soon as I noticed, I've covered them with SAMSFX Rubber Fishing Reel Handle Grip Sleeve Non-Slip Baitcaster Knob Covers for Casting or Spinning Reel. That should help this reel have a much longer life.

Great reel I gave it 4 stars because for the price they could improve by replacing all the cheap plastic parts especially on the casting button which is still cheap plastic and broken on the old bullet.
