Casts well with no binding, Easy to use if your beginning fishing and looking for an inexpensive reel. Bought this for use of just dropping my line from the kayak, which the trigger system works well. You can't go wrong buying this.

    • A little disappointed; not 2016 model
The listing for this item was for the 2016 model; I was fully aware that model might not be available, however, the new 2021 (I assume) is an excellent ultra-light trigger spin reel. That mid-2000's range of Zebco reels were really exceptional, I have several in my collection; purchased a newer platinum 33 model and it's not of the same quality, though not terrible. There's too much plastic on the outside. This newer trigger-spin model has a small footprint; it's very compact, fits the hand nicely, and casts smoothly and far. Tried it on the lawn with about a 1/4" teardrop weight and it casts really far. Used a 1/16 spinner bait this morning at the park pond and it did pretty well casting that light weight. The line, 4 lb test clear Cajun seems to be good quality monofilament line. I'm overall happy with the purchase; however, I'll have my eye out for an old stock 2016 or so ultra-light Zebco triggerspin reel ... show more

I use for small poles. Very easy to cast and control the placement of the cast. Perfect for light weight lures. Cant go wrong as I've had and still have several of Zebco trigger spinning reels.

I love everything about Zebco reels. They are easy to use, intuitive, durable, and an excellent value for the money. My lovely wife caught this nice fish with a 33 micro and Hotcast combo. I have some spinning and baitcasting reels too, but Zebco spincasting reels are always my favorite reel to use. Every single Zebco I use, and I have ten, is a winner and a fish catcher. They never fail to cast, retrieve, and function properly. Every angler should own one! Zebco has transformed me. If you're expecting a competent real, this is not it. I use it for small fish when I'm just messing around, I use it on a 5' ultra lite rod. Got this for my wife to replace a crummy spinning reel that came as a combo "storebought purchase". The drag didnt work on the original reel and she was not getting the hang of it.
