I started with the XE-PRO 40/40 and was happy with the machine but wanted a bigger work area so I added on the 80/40, and the 1.5kw vfd spindle upgrades. WOW what a difference. I wish I had done this much sooner. FoxAlien has made it so easy to install the upgrades. I am very satisfied with this machine.

This machine is solid and precise. I use Vcarve Desktop to produce Gcode and Candle to make .nc files to run on the machine. The controller works well in either controller mode or PC mode. It is smooth, moves as commanded with no backlash or misalignment. The work space has clamp holds every 9mm apart, leaving plenty of room for small or full size projects. I'm new to CNC and had no problem assembling it or running programs. The Z axis has plenty of room to work those thick carvings I like to create. I have used many tools: Vcarve 60 and 90 deg., end mills 1/8" and 1/4" and two size ball mills. I wish the controller screen was a bit larger, but it is easy to use and functional.

Current rating is based on prior to working with customer support. Will be updated after working with them. Get machine delivery is on time. Set up machine and use locktite on moving axis bolts to ensure nothing comes loose (foreshadowing) First issue was dealing with all the software requirements. Be aware this unit does not come with any software to design or run the machine. They recommend Candle but I had absolutely no luck with it as the machine kept crashing each time I tried to start a job. Ended up using G sender and Vcarve desktop (an additional $350USD so your aware) to begin running first job. Run some simple jobs to verify square and integrity of machine. Have less then 30min run time and homing failures. Notice the Y axis is not moving and found the rod has popped out of the stepper motor adapter. I am a person who fixes things before complaining that being said I loosened the set screw and reinstalled the rod hoping for a quick easy fix. Not a chance. Next test it separates again with set screw tightened as much as my 30 year old man self can get it. I am very disappointed with this specific unit but I have watched a ton of YT videos and this seems like an exception. Overall the unit is of good material quality and sturdy. I would love to keep the machine and not have to begin the return process but that will all be based on their customer support which only has an email. Will update review once there is a resolution. Update: Customer service is very responsive and got back to me quickly with a solution and mailed out the replacement parts. I recieved the new parts about 10 days later and while replacing those found another broken part. The ball bearing carrier for the X axis is coming apart and loosing bearings.

It has very solid and high-quality components, and putting it together was a breeze thanks to the user-friendly manuals. I have carved and cut numerous projects, and I haven't encountered any issues. On the customer support side, they are very responsive and provide helpful basic troubleshooting advice on their website. I would definitely recommend this machine.

I purchased this CNC as my first hobby CNC Machine. I am decently familiar with CNC routers from my job, so it's pretty similar! I would recommend paring it with Vcarve and GSender as this Machine is GRBL based and uses .gcode files. Setting the machine up was fairly easy, and i would recommend watching the how to set up your XE-Pro by James Dean Designs to get it all set up l. Right out of the box, however, my machine was perfectly square and calibrated perfectly as well. The build quality is more than what you would expect for an "entry level" hobby cnc router which is nice too! The max cutting size is listed incorrectly on the pictures though, as my limit switches make it to where I can cut a 16in x 17in instead of the listed cut limits in the description and photos. Some reviewers state that they have had issues with the motherboards going out or something else going out, but so far no issues after a month of running it. Will update if anything changes! I would say if you are on the fence about buying it, get it! It's a very nice machine to have!

I have owned the Foxalien XE pro for a little over two years and I upgraded the machine from a 4040 to an 8040 machine which gives me more ability to make wider projects. I find the machine to be very accurate easy to set up and easy to use. I’ve been using G sender to run my G code projects making it very simple and intuitive. This machine is a great value for the money. My next endeavor will be to upgrade the rails not because it needs it, but it only makes the machine even more accurate. I’m a hobbies so I think that this will be my forever machine.
