Bought this XE Pro to upgrade from my 4040 XE. This machine is a beast compared to the 4040 XE! It is solid and heavy! It takes longer than 30 minutes to set this up but simple and easy just following the pics. After set up, I checked for level and plumb and everything was spot on! I made a throw away spoil board to go on top of the machine bed and ran a 25mm surfacing bit and the cut was perfectly level! I can also tell you that after having the 4040 XE for almost 2 years that Fox Alien's customer support is fantastically awesome! You email them and their back at you the next day! The listing says 220v power. There is a switch on the bottom of the control box that allows you to select 220 or 110. Great little machine!!

I purchased this CNC as my first hobby CNC Machine. I am decently familiar with CNC routers from my job, so it's pretty similar! I would recommend paring it with Vcarve and GSender as this Machine is GRBL based and uses .gcode files. Setting the machine up was fairly easy, and i would recommend watching the how to set up your XE-Pro by James Dean Designs to get it all set up l. Right out of the box, however, my machine was perfectly square and calibrated perfectly as well. The build quality is more than what you would expect for an "entry level" hobby cnc router which is nice too! The max cutting size is listed incorrectly on the pictures though, as my limit switches make it to where I can cut a 16in x 17in instead of the listed cut limits in the description and photos. Some reviewers state that they have had issues with the motherboards going out or something else going out, but so far no issues after a month of running it. Will update if anything changes! I would say if you are on the fence about buying it, get it! It's a very nice machine to have!

Current rating is based on prior to working with customer support. Will be updated after working with them. Get machine delivery is on time. Set up machine and use locktite on moving axis bolts to ensure nothing comes loose (foreshadowing) First issue was dealing with all the software requirements. Be aware this unit does not come with any software to design or run the machine. They recommend Candle but I had absolutely no luck with it as the machine kept crashing each time I tried to start a job. Ended up using G sender and Vcarve desktop (an additional $350USD so your aware) to begin running first job. Run some simple jobs to verify square and integrity of machine. Have less then 30min run time and homing failures. Notice the Y axis is not moving and found the rod has popped out of the stepper motor adapter. I am a person who fixes things before complaining that being said I loosened the set screw and reinstalled the rod hoping for a quick easy fix. Not a chance. Next test it separates again with set screw tightened as much as my 30 year old man self can get it. I am very disappointed with this specific unit but I have watched a ton of YT videos and this seems like an exception. Overall the unit is of good material quality and sturdy. I would love to keep the machine and not have to begin the return process but that will all be based on their customer support which only has an email. Will update review once there is a resolution. Update: Customer service is very responsive and got back to me quickly with a solution and mailed out the replacement parts. I recieved the new parts about 10 days later and while replacing those found another broken part. The ball bearing carrier for the X axis is coming apart and loosing bearings.

I started with a pretty solid 3018 to learn this hobby, then after a year moved to lower priced 4040. I had so many issues with the cheaper machine I spent some time researching and settled on the FoxAlien XE-Pro and went for the linear rail and 8040 extension upgrades. I am tickled! I am off and running with confidence! This machine was 4x what I one spent on my 4040 but it is 1000, better. Worth every penny in my book. My only complaint would be that there are so many useless leftover parts after the upgrade such as the gantry, cables and spoilboard. FoxAlien needs to sell this all as one upgraded kit and maybe charge a little less. I had to buy all three items separately.
