Update: going on nearly a week of daily use and have had no issues at all! Also, I found a way to avoid putting stress on the hinge and extending it’s life. If you hold the case upright with the hinge edge on a flat surface, and then pull down by the keyboard to lay it flat, this reduces the strain on the magnetic clips so the iPad won’t pop out. Putting a little bit of WD-40 on each metal hinge also helped A LOT. The small ‘globe’ button on the function key row doesn’t seem to do anything on the home-screen of iPadOS. I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to pull up a browser like Safari or Chrome. HOWEVER, I have found that it pulls up the emoji keyboard when typing!! So technically this keyboard does have a dedicated emoji button! I’ve only used it for a week at this point, but I love this thing! I purchased this fully knowing the issues with the hinge breaking after a short amount of time, but at $100, this is fine. I love how sturdy everything is, everything being fully encased in solid rubber. I LOVE the holder for the Apple Pencil being laid into the keyboard itself, although it does rattle around a little bit. Also, when the case is detached from the keyboard, technically you can magnetically attach the Apple Pencil to the case on the bottom side, just like with the 2nd gen Apple Pencil! The keyboard is great, although the keys are a little click-y for my taste. It’s so cool how there are 7 colors to choose from for the keyboard backlight, and 3 levels of brightness. The keyboard doesn’t have the ‘instant-on’ feature like others as it is Bluetooth based which naturally makes it turn on slower, however, I didn’t find the extra 1 to 2 seconds annoying. I have not found the typing experience to be laggy and have not lost connection (yet). I love how the keyboard charges via USB C! I was fully expecting micro USB so that was a happy addition. The only issue I have to complain about is the level of effort to put the iPad itself into the detachable case. There are two extended lips on the case where it attaches to the keyboard that the iPad has to clear for it to snap into, and I honestly thought I was going to crack the screen trying to snap it in. Additionally, the case is so tight around the iPad (not necessarily a bad thing), that a screen protector would probably get messed up when inserting (unless it was one of those softer film-like screen protectors). Also, the headphone jack and lightning cable port covers don’t lock into the case at all, so they will start to poke out of the case after many times pulling them out to charge/use headphones. This case hits 99% of all my requirements for the BEST iPad case ever. The only thing that would make it 100% perfect would be a hinge stand on the back of the detachable case like the Logitech Combo Touch case for watching media or taking notes without the keyboard attached. Also, if they made this exact keyboard case for the 12.9 inch iPad or any of the newer models, I would throw my money at Zagg. ... show more

I usually buy this case at Best Buy, but bought it off of Amazon. This is my 4th case purchase and everytime, the case only last 6 months... just long enogh for the zagg warrenty to expire. This time I thought Id be smart and purchase it through Amazon and get the Assurion 4 year warrenty. The keyboard crapped our again in less than 5 months. Tried to file the warrenty claim to find out Assurion warrenty is still through Zagg. So i asked for the warrenty to be refunded. But no, that has to go through Zagg also. So this is a worthless reliable keyboard and I will never purchase an Assurion warrenty again. I now have ordered a completely different manufacturer keyboard. To add.. the woman at Amazon hung up on me when I became insistant that Amazon should be replacing this keyboard or refund my warrenty. ... show more

My older (10.5”) iPad is running out of options for a keyboard/case. Bought a few cheaper ‘rotaty’ style cases, minimal protection but they worked great for a while, then the hinge broke the case and it was always past the warranty. When the last one went in less than a month, I opted for something better. Read the mostly positive reviews on this guy. Bit the bullet and grabbed it. Well, the Zagg is WELL BUILT!!! It’s now past 90 days and it’s still solid as a rock! I found I miss a dedicated ‘Screen Grab’ key, but I can get around that. My ONLY disappointment is I miss having a trackpad, but I can see and understand why it’s not offered, and it’s not a deal breaker. Keyboard battery life seems quite reasonable. Others commented on keyboard failures after 6 months or so, I guess I’ll find out. But until then, I am beyond happy with this case. Would I buy another? In a heartbeat! UPDATE - 4 months in and it WAS holding up quite well, occasionally missing a space bar click, but nothing horrible. Today the iPad was left on the roof of the car and subsequently ended up on the ground, in the road and lost! Discovered it missing at home and went crazy. Found that someone had picked it up and was wondering what to do. I got the iPad back with just some minor scratches on the Zagg case! Well done to Zagg for the awesome protection of my iPad! The Bluetooth function is great. The keyboard is great. The Aesthetic is great. What’s not great is the weight/heaviness of the product. And protective mechanism of the case overall. The main function of the product has failed me. I bought this case in July 2024. I dropped my iPad WHILE INSIDE THE CASE for the FIRST time this past January 2025. My iPad is now broken. Great case even though it is heavy. It is very durable and has protected my iPad on many trips. The keyboard charge lasts a long the time. However, after about 1 year the battery dies and will not accept a charge (this is my third case and the second one with that problem). So far their customer support has fallen off. I have contacted Zagg and they told me it would be replaced with an improved case for $11.01. I agreed to accept the new case. I discovered that my credit card account was charged twice. Today I checked my order on the Zagg support site and was informed that it was canceled. It seems that their support depends on a roll of dice, sometimes it is excellent, other times it doesn’t exist. After contacting Zagg I determined that they refunded the $11.01 charge. They explained that their bot requires a .pdf copy of my Amazon receipt and explained how to get it. With that I contacted their warranty bot again and a replacement case will be shipped within 2-3 business days. ... show more

If you want fantastic protection for your iPad, this is the case for it. It’s heavy though, but when my friend saw it, he was amazed at the protection and sturdiness of the case. He said he thought I could drop it off the roof and it would be fine. (Do NOT try this though. haha). I almost sent this back when I got it because I tried for at least 30 minutes to insert my iPad into the case the way the instructions said, and they were wrong. It will only fit in the opposite direction. It’s a very sturdy rubber- like material that is quite thick and heavy as I said. So far it has been a bit difficult to open it and close it but maybe that’s because it’s brand new. I expect that it will get easier over time. I haven’t quite got used to using my new ipad along with a keyboard, and I do kind of wish that I had got a keyboard with a trackpad on it. I think that might have made it a little easier to use the keyboard with the iPad. I’m just not used to it yet. But when I am typing on the keyboard, it’s great— just like typing on a laptop. You just have to push one button to join the keyboard via Bluetooth. I highly recommend it if you can live with how heavy it is. It’s not really something that I would throw in my purse and carry around all day because of its weight, but I believe it would be totally safe if you wanted to do that! ... show more

I bought this for my school iPad because the ambulance company I worked for had them and I love them. Lots of rubber around the whole thing for shock protection, I have a space for my Apple Pencil, keyboard is though enough to support the weight of the iPad so I don’t need a stand on the back and I can detach the keyboard to use with my computer. Very compact and handy little work station. Only problem I do have is the covers for the charging port and the headphone jack will lose integrity and fall off over time with regular use. ... show more

This is a good concept from a good brand. However, there are a few design issues you should be aware of before buying: 1) The magnetic hinge does not hold in the tablet well when opening and closing. It holds fine when you are not adjusting the screen angle. 2) The pencil slot is really only useful for an Apple Pencil, not a deal breaker by any means. 3) Being a “Rugged” case, the keys are not as responsive as most modern island keys. 4) Finally, little thought was given to the rubberized covers for the ports. They are stiff covers that would prevent fall damage, but are difficult to move out of the way for plugs. GOOD FEEDBACK: The case is solidly built and does a good job at protecting the tablet. ZAGG products (when they work) still stand out as higher quality that others and tend to last as long as my tablet will last. My experience: I had to order 2 different replacements before getting one with a working keyboard. The ones I ordered from the ZAGG Amazon store, though they seems new, were definitely faulty. Once I ordered a replacement from ZAGG directly (and waiting several weeks for it to arrive), it worked normally and I am now using it to write this review. ... show more
