  • The ability to carry it around when you need a quick cleanup is important
Style: Wet/Dry Vac Only
Is this as powerful as the big shop vac in my shop? Well, not remotely so. But being able to run on a battery is a huge plus. If I want to clean out the inside of my car or boat, this is the perfect tool. And being able to use it as a blower can sometimes be nice too. It is easy to drop the tank to empty it, though if it was full of water, be careful. Finally, it was pretty quiet. From 3 feet away, I measured 66-73 Db, depending on where I was standing, around 70 on average. Looking directly at the blower port might be the highest volume, but that would be expected. Finally, I did listen to the volume when run on the cord versus a battery. It seemed to be slightly more throaty on the cord, but not by a lot. I could probably rig up a way to compare the two power choices. ... show more

  • Great vac!
Style: Wet/Dry Vac Only
This thing is awesome. I would say it's slightly less powerful than a corded shop vac, but way more convenient. The only thing this hasn't been able to consistently pick up is small nails. When it does they sometimes get stuck sideways in the hose so I probably shouldn't vacuum them anyway. I was a little leery about the smaller size but it hasn't been an issue at all. My only beef with it is my beef with all wet/dry vacs, the filters get full of saw dust or whatever particulate matter is floating around and then you lose suction. This is where the vac being small comes in handy. My old corded shop vac never got more than 1/4 or so full before the filter clogged up. There was no point in taking it apart to clean the filter and then not emptying the thing, so the extra space didn't really matter. Depending on how much dust is around this thing gets 1/2 to 2/3 full before the filter needs to be cleared out. So the size is just right. Being able to carry it around without a cord is huge though. I use it on my car and around whatever job I'm working on. I can easily carry it around with one hand and it makes light work out of cleaning up. I wouldn't mind having a longer hose or a few other attachments for it, but I'm overall very pleased and would recommend in a heartbeat. I'm using a 60v 6ah flexvolt battery, but the battery life has also been very good from my experience. I also appreciate that it has a cord too. I have a few batteries so I only needed the cord the first day I got it before my batteries arrived. But I'm glad that in many years when dewalt changes up their batteries this will still be a useful tool. ... show more

  • Dewalt Vacuum a big win .....
Style: Wet/Dry Vac Only
Best portable vacuum. The dual Power source application makes this wet dry vacuum multi purposeful. Great suction and surprisingly long battery life during use makes it even better.

  • This product sucks (in a good way)
Style: Wet/Dry Vac Only
This is a good vacuum device. However, its strength of suction is a bit lacking. It is helpful, for sure, as are almost all DeWalt products. However, I do wish it was somewhat more powerful.

  • DeWalt 20 volt shop vac
Style: Wet/Dry Vac Only
The shop vac works great and is perfect for small jobs or just vacuuming out your car. Plug in or battery operated.

  • Works well and the battery operation is handy.
Style: Wet/Dry Vac Only
I bought this to use for minor, quick cleanups where a power outlet is not available. It works well on the 20V Dewalt batteries compatible with my tools so I didn't need to purchase expensive additional batteries. Is it a replacement for a full size corded shop vac? No, but for quick cleanups when drilling a few holes, etc it works great. It does also work on 120V but I only tested that, I have not used it in that manner. ... show more

  • This vacuum hardly sucks--which makes it useless
Style: Wet/Dry Vac Only
This vacuum barely--no significant suction when cleaning--and that makes it practically useless. Yet, despite not being powerful, it has a short battery life. How poor is the suction on this pump? When I was cleaning up after repairing a large paper shredder, the vacuum missed pieces of shredded paper, as well as the paper dust, that had fallen from the shredder and were flat on the floor. This vacuum has trouble picking up things like spilled rice or popcorn on a linoleum. It doesn't even do a very good job of picking up the little piles dust and dirt that you leave when you use a broom and dustpand These are all things a Bissell plug-in upright vacuum I had bought 5 years ago for $42 on sale at Target can pick up with no problem. I bought this DeWalth cordless vacuum because I wanted a portable vacuum for cleaning up my work areas and my car. I chose DeWalt because I had two other cordless DeWalt tools, a drill and an air pump, that I liked. I figured I could share batteries with these. I've been more than happy with my DeWalt drill and my DeWalt pump. Both the drill and the pump have worked well and have had good battery lives. (The battery life for the pump has been especially good.) This qualities of this vacuum as a tool stands in stark contrast to those of the pump and the drill. This vacuum fails to be a good tool due to it's low suction, short battery, and mediocre design. I find the battery life to be very short. I haven't measured it but I now take an extension cord with me on the infrequent occasions when I use it, because it the battery often fails before the work is done. (Part of the reason the work isn't done before the battery is dead is because the vacuum's lack of effective suction means that any job takes about 3 times as long as it should. Actually, I usually just take another vacuum. Further, the vacuum's overall design isn't great. The accessory mounts are fussy, with the accessories falling off easily. The cord management system is not very good, as the cord easily comes free. I use a velcro strap to keep the place. (You can run this vacuum on battery or on corded power, but its suction is poor no matter the power source.) The vacuum is also not particularly easy to keep clean. DeWalt has a reputation for excellence. My prior experiences with DeWalt cordless tools had uniformly been consistent with DeWalt's reputation for great poor tools. Consequently, the inadequacies of this vacuum has been a great disappointment. Perhaps all cordless portable vacuums are this bad, but I find that hard to believe. I've used small corded vacuums that work better than this vacuum. Notably, this vacuum doesn't work any better when it's running of corded power. Its suction's just inadequate. I'm not asking this vacuum to perform as well as a $1000+ Miele, but I think if might work half as well as my $42 Bissell--but it doesn't. If you want a portable vacuum, I'd suggest trying it out in person first. Based on my experience with this DeWalt vauum, I recommend buying a brand of cordless vacuum other than a DeWalt. This vacuum is terrible and it has tarnished DeWalts good reputation. ... show more
