I needed a backpack quickly for an overnight stay in the hospital. I ordered this because it was to arrive quick but it's a great back pack I will get a lot of use out of. It holds a substantial amount of items, I packed 2 days worth of cloths, a large text book, several papers I had to read, and my laptop. It also comes with a built in lock which I did use. I've spent a lot of time searching for a laptop case/bag that locks securely! About a year ago, I purchased leather women's bag that didn't have a lock, but I bought a small padlock with a cable & locked it by inserting the cable through the zipper hole & metal strap connector. This wasn't effective at all, because the zipper broke - not the zipper pull but the actual zipper. I just bought a new laptop, so went on a search at the same time to find a better solution for a secure bag. This was literally the only thing I could find on amazon. The reviews seemed good & the price was excellent! It wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. I wanted something feminine and cute & preferably more like a bag than a backpack, but it meets my needs. Pros: The lock is awesome! You can easily change the code to something private. The back of the backpack has plenty of padding for comfort. There are two straps at the top for carrying - the standard twill loop & a sturdier padded handle. I always use the handle with padding. There are lots zippered compartments for storing things. I love that there's a separate compartment for the laptop that has a strap that Velcro's in place to hold it securely. I also love that the laptop compartment is located at the back of the backpack, where the extra padding is! There are also features that I haven't figured out yet. They almost appear to be speakers built in? I've only had it for about 2 weeks & haven't read up on it or used everything yet. Cons: The backpack is made of fabric, so if someone were determined they'd just cut the fabric to get in. I know they were likely trying to keep the weight down, but I wish this were made of something sturdier & harder to cut. I also wish that they offered feminine colors, like maybe pink. It would be wonderful if the company offered a bag for women with a lock, rather than just a backpack. I hope that they'll consider that in the future & that when they do, it will maybe have cute feminine designs built in - kind of like a big purse. This is a decent backpack with two good-sized larger main compartments. One of the large compartments has a raised sleeve for your laptop to keep it from hitting the ground, but I'll probably pad the bottom with a scarf or something for extra protection. In the other large zippered pocket, there is an open pouch that looks like it's meant to put a spare power source that you can plug in using the attached USB cable and then, from the outside, connect a tablet or phone to charge. That's handy, but I think I would've preferred to just have a small access hole there since the USB cable could go bad. (And likely will after a few years.) It also has 2 smaller main zippered compartments, one being a long sleeve on the front. It's good for putting things you need to get to quickly. It's probably designed to slide your passport in, but honestly, I don't think it's safe enough for that in larger crowds. It would be too easy to slide it open and get to it. The other smaller front zipper goes to an area with smaller pockets inside for your pens, wallet and other small items you want to keep sorted. One complaint in this part is that inside that area, it would be a great place for lots of smaller zippers (or even velcro-closed pockets), but unfortunately, all of the little pockets are wide open. (Pictured) I have no doubt that my stuff will fall out of these in travel and end up on the bottom of this pouch. On the outside, it also has a couple of net stretchy pockets for water bottles. I expect those to be the first thing to wear out... It also has an adjustable strap on each side that seems pretty pointless. (Pictured) I'm not sure what they are supposed to secure. All in all, it looks to be of good quality. The fabric so far appears durable and the stitching looks secure. I will update this review if that ends up not being the case, but so far, so good! ... show more

I commute 2.5 hrs 5 days a week. I pack two meals, a laptop, my umbrella (Oregon) and a book, my kindle, plus personal care items, and still lots of room. This backpack has a combo lock built into the bag for the laptop area; the zipper toggles fit into the lock. It's just an extra deterrent when traveling, so my valuables go in that section. Zippers are heavy-duty, and so is the bag! With a coupon, I paid under $21 for the grey bag. It looks professional, packs all my important things, and has a handy USB port cord with an external power source. You supply the power pack. A pocket on the inside holds the power pack near the USB port built into the bag. I plug my phone into the USB port built into the bag's side and charge my phone or laptop. The external power pack was separate, but the bag came with a USB port built into the bag. Totally worth the price. Wide shoulder straps are adjustable.
