  • Good vise, great price
I really like this little vise. it holds small parts nice and securely. All of the parts seem fully formed and in good shape. All of the plastic parts have a bit of flashing on them, but they all clean up pretty well with a utility knife. All of the screw threads are well formed, on both the soft jaws/posts and the main screw. I haven't had it for a very long time, so I can't say how it will hold up in the very long term, but for the short while that I've had it, it seems to be doing pretty well. I don't have any machine table or other surface with T-slots, so I can't test out the bolt-holes, but a small pistol-grip clamp does a fine job at holding it in place at the edge of my desk. For anyone wondering, the screw heads are Phillips #2. Unfortunately, I've lost my thread tester, so I can't say what the thread size is. All in all, this is a pretty good vise. I'm sure this will get a lot more use. ... show more

  • Reasonable value
This clamp is as weak as possible AND still functional for small & very light duty tasks. Poor machining and tolerances make it awkward to open/close, but it is usable. You will likely need to "help" the vice open/closed with a second hand since the jaw has too much play and can jam. I expect this vise to have a short life expectancy, even for very light work, only because the material is soooo soft that the threads will wear easily simply removing and replacing the different holding posts. (I can not confirm this speculation yet). Summary: I did not immediately find an alternative vice in the $20-30 range with better build quality. At the price point of this vice I believe it IS a good value and will serve my purposes. I rate this as good value, poor sturdiness, mediocre ease of use, because the jaw function isn't smooth. I rate the product as functional enough for super light duty work. ... show more

  • Nice little hobby vice
Works well for holding cabochons and pendants in my jewelry making. Item arrived in good condition and all parts shown were there. I would recommend this to anyone.

  • Smart vise concept - poorly executed
The Z-COLOR combination vise is designed to hold small workpieces. The painted jaws are not ground, i.e. there is some tolerance in holding parts. The movable jaw has a cast guide with about 2mm lateral play, 2mm axial play and 2mm torsion play. The drive spindle connects to the jaw with a screw (yes, a regular screw, untapered) that protrudes in a radial recess cut into the outer 6mm of the spindle. This design natively allows for a lot of slack and play. The vise comes with two orange plastic bolt-on jaws, flat with a horizontal groove on one side, and a radius groove on the other side. The plastic jaws bolt on the top of the vise jaws - they do not cover the inside of the vise jaws. There are four holes in the plastic jaws, countersunk on one side, that allow to bolt the plastic jaws to the vice jaws. The threads in the vise jaws were cut very poorly, it was difficult to attach the screws that hold the plastic jaws - I ended up re-tapping those threads. Said threaded holes can also hold up to four plastic cylinders to grip non-flat workpieces. All plastic pieces had mold burrs that required some sanding to assure that workpieces can be held securely. Overall, the vise is useful, but the fit, finish and function are surprisingly poor. And it looks and feels like you have to handle it with care to avoid breaking it when you use it - certainly a hobbyist tool... ... show more

  • Much Heavier Than I Expected
This little vise is heavier than I expected it to be. The metal seems much sturdier than I thought for the price. The slide is adjustable from underneath so you can tighten up any slack in the mechanism to make it hold more firmly. If the screw is binding, the adjustment can be loosened. The plastic jaw adapters work great to hold tight, without marring the work. It works great with my Dremel drilling press. Good value for the price. ... show more

  • Small mighty
If you want a giant of a small vice, this is it the price is right

  • Not to bad
So I was in need of a small vice and quick to finish a project. Finding this on Amazon I decided to buy it. Knowing it was a bit small for my needs, but it actually worked well. FYI - I would suggest NOT using on a full size floor standing drill press. A bit too much torque. Though it did the trick, it is more suited for smaller table top drill presses. And even after being pulled loose from the clamp and spinning around the drill head, it held on. I used the jaw heads with the V-notch. It did put a little stress mark in one side but never gave up it hold on the workpiece. The handle knob was a bit stiff when turning. Wasn't sure if there was a misalignment or possibly just may need some grease on the through bolt threads to make it move more smooth. All in all it is a good, sturdy and 'little' vice. ... show more

  • Perfect for my needs
This is a very inexpensive small vice ideal (for my needs) for the Dremel Workstation drill press. It is cheaply made, which should certainly come as no surprise to those who were cheap enough to actually buy it. Having said that, it works great for holding things down while you drill small holes in them. I like the plastic jaws, and the "mandrels" or whatever the correct term is for the posts that hold circular objects. As cheap as it is, it's just basically a bolt and a couple of hunks of metal, with plastic jaws and mandrels. So I expect it to last a long time. I can print new plastic parts. ... show more
