    • Ridiculous Illuminator
If you've ever been disappointed with the illuminator on any of your IR devices this thing might be for you, with some caveats. This puts out an absolutely beautiful amount of IR light with an easy to use pattern adjustment that goes from a very useable medium flood to a narrow spotlight that easily reaches 300 yards. Only thing I wish it had would be a diffuser cap, but I'm pretty sure I can fab one. For $230, it's phenomenal. Downside is it's big, especially on the 18650 body, like really big. I think I might have to drop down to the 18350. But if it's going on a 16"+ rifle it might not be an issue for you. Another quirk you'll have to deal with is setup to get a full night fighting setup; there aren't many good standalone IR only lasers with the only real options being the Holosun LE/LS117 and 221 IR, the OTAL-C, and the 3EIR DIR-ONE. I tried this with an LE117IR d honestly, the illuminator is so powerful, it makes the dot from the 117 really small and faint. I think the only real option to pair with it would be the DIR-ONE. The other quirk that might be a deal breaker for some is setting up the switchology of having separate ir illum, ir laser, and vis illum, and having three separate things mounted to the front of your gun. It can be kinda of a mess with wires and switches. All that being said, the zbolt head itself is phenomenal and if you can deal with some less-than-standard setups, you can achieve some top notch night performance, on par with some of the best for much less money. ... show more
