It comes mostly assembled. Once you've unpacked it, then it's just a matter of moving the arms out to a full circle and then determining how long an extension you need. You then feed the wiring through the extension into the mounting bracket and cover. The wiring is always inside and unseen. It is suitable for an angled ceiling. The down rod does have an angle joint. The lampshades are held on by small plastic rings and that means it can use any lampshade that size. That means, when fashion moves on to a different style of shade, you can simply change out the shades and keep the chandelier part. There are no bulbs included, but since they're hidden in these shades you can go with most any that fit the E12 base. That's not a standard light bulb size, but they're commonly found on chandeliers. The linen shades do look good when illuminated. It is all steel (it's magnetic) which has been plated - at least it looks like plating and not paint. It's a good quality finish. ... show more

This is a beautiful fixture. It’s not exactly “no assembly required” as they claim, but it’s pretty darn close. All you have to do is fold the arms out, and then decide on how high or low you want to mount it. I was taken aback by the bulb slots at first. I could t figure out what kind of bulb would fit into something like that- it seemed inside out! However, it just takes an E12 (candelabra). The shades aren’t clip on, they screw down onto the fixture (better for stability!)- that’s what the threads are for. Apparently, the way this socket works is, one of the leads touches the bottom of the bulb, and the other touches the side, to complete the circuit. It feels a little less secure than I’m used to, but it works. Overall, this is really nice- I plan to put it on a dimmer over my reading book! ... show more

It took me about 15 minutes to put it together, and another 15 minutes for my husband to hang it. Everything went smoothly, and we didn't have any issues installing the light. It's the perfect size for our dining room, and probably for most standard-sized dining rooms. This light fixture is a great value for the money. I have been looking for months, and many are 4-5 times this price for fixtures that I would never even consider.
