    • Excellent backdrop tarp for absorbing heat in my raised winter garden bed

This thick canvas tarp obviously has many uses, whereas I used mine to seal the north side of our 5’ tall raised winter gardening bed wooden frame. The tough loops of webbing made it easy to install onto the frame in just minutes. I’ve already transferred 14 of my five-gallon grow bags into the bed for the winter, and noticed that this sturdy black tarp absorbs a lot of heat from the sun — a big plus for a winter garden. That said, my arugula, spinach, kale, beets, rutabaga, and radish plants actually wilted due to the excess heat so I’ve added a shade cloth until the weather cools down (probably next month). When the weather gets really cold in November I’ll cover the top and sides of the frame with greenhouse plastic, and this heat-absorbing black tarp on the north side will certainly keep temperatures warm inside during the day while preventing the soil (and our plants) from freezing. I’ve removed one star since 8’ long is a standard size for most other tarps and 2x4s used for garden frames as well as most outbuildings, this same tarp offered in 8’ standard increments would certainly earn a solid five stars. ... show more

This is a heavy and strong tarp (appears to be canvas with a waterproof coating)- using to cover our sailboat during winter time. Far superior to the standard blue plastic tarps that erode and fall apart after a few months. This tarp is *heavy* and strong.
