    • Can be used with 2" barrel telescope eyepieces
I purchased this as a "test" to see if it would work on a conventional 2" barrel telescope eyepiece, equipped with standard 48 mm threads. YES...it can actually help increase the magnification (a bit; depends on the eyepiece for the exact result) if you need it. A 2" telescope Barlow lens can cost well over $100. If you have one or two 2" oculars and don't want to spend that much, you might consider trying this. I found that I got added magnification that varied from around 1.5x to as much as 2x, depending on the design of the eyepiece: just what I needed to "fix" some bad Erfle 2" oculars that had lots of coma; with the screw-on Barlow, the image quality improved dramatically (of course, the power goes up -- slightly -- and the exit pupil is a bit smaller, so the brightness of image MIGHT drop a bit; but it's a good trade off if the hideous edge-coma is almost completely eliminated! ... show more
