Description

Best for achieving smooth finish on Hard plastics. cutting diameter: 3/16" cutting Height: 3/4" shank diameter: 1/4" overall length: 2" flutes: 3 low helix bits perform a more lateral movement with less upward or downward motion resulting in a smoother finish on single layer materials. These bits are a better choice for hard Plastics such as acrylic and phenolic. Down Cut End mills Shear in a downward direction causing the uppermost layer of the material to be pressed down against the material just below it. This motion leaves a perfectly clean top surface edge. A concentration of wood chips in the work path will occur. Hose away excess wood chips to prevent bit breakage.

  • Solid clean-cutting bit in plywood.
Size: 1/4" Shank Style: 1/4" Diameter - 1" Cut Length
II needed a 1/4" downcut bit for my CNC to cut plywood for toys. I need to cut up a sheet each of 3/4" and 3/8" ply to make toy cradles. That is a lot of cutting. If I use upcut bits on the top surface of the plywood, the edge of the cut is splintered and rough requiring a lot of post-cut cleanup. This Yonico downcut bit makes a cut that leaves just a bit of fuzz on the edges that can be easily sanded off with a quick swipe. The bit is a good value, too. ... show more

  • Perfect Cut
Size: 1/4" Shank Style: 3/16" Diameter - 3/4" Cut Length
It made a perfect 3/16th cut in some Rosewood. It did a good job. I don't know about it's longevity, but it seems to be a high quality bit. I was pleased.

  • Dulls unacceptably fast
Size: 1/4" Shank Style: 1/4" Diameter - 1" Cut Length
I used this end mill in Aspen wood boards (which is very soft for a 'hard wood'), but it cut so little I can actually calculate almost exactly how many feet I got out of this cutter before it dulled to the point of smoking while cutting. It cut about 160ft of total at about 25% the maximum feed rate for a 1/4" endmill in wood at 10,000rpms. My chip load per flute was far lower than this should be capable of, and it only lasted about 160' of linear cut at an average depth of about 1/8". I'm making essentially square shapes, 2' x 2' and I cut out about 20 of them before the cutter scorched a board and was smoking so badly we had to shut it down. It's never hit a nail or screw, never been dropped, and always had a dust collector and a separate vacuum running on its cutting path for chip clearing... I would've thought in WOOD this cutter would've lasted longer. It cut nicely for what little cutting it did, does an excellent job of preventing tear out on our boards, but didn't last anywhere NEAR long enough to be worth it. ... show more

  • Yonico Continues to Impress
Size: 1/4" Shank Style: 1/4" Diameter - 1" Cut Length
Bit performs very well. Yonico continues to amaze at a price lower than its competitors even with more high performance products.

  • Good Bit With One Caution
Size: 1/4" Shank Style: 3/16" Diameter - 3/4" Cut Length
Nothing wrong with the bit. It cuts cleanly. But the shank is short on my 3/16" bit with 3/4" cutting length. On my first use I chucked it into the collet as I usually do, with all of the shank in the collet and all of the cutting length exposed. The bit drifted out of the collet and ruined my workpiece. It turned out the shank was not completely through the collet. I had to insert it further, burying a little of the cutting length in the collet, in order for the shank to reach all the way to the bottom of the collet. This may not be a problem with most routers. This is a huge Porter Cable motor under a table, and its 1/4" collet is deeper than any other one in my shop. But be aware it could happen. ... show more
